I always wondered, what exactly was the message to be absorbed by the viewer of Neo finally giving into Agent smith??
I often ponder to myself about my stance in this system because I always feel like I'm Neo amongst asleep sheeple in this system of modern day life. What? Am I supposed to give in???
@Crisshomes1 So....basically Neo was the pipeline to transfer the "destroyer virus" to Smith by allowing fim to take him over since Smith was unplugged?
Also, did you know that this movie was just a blantant expose just in metaphoric terms about The Illuminati (system) and the asleep sheeple?
It was not about Neo having a virus, its because Neo was connected to the matrix by the machine father and it had more options but it needed to contact Smith to give a simple command like delete.
The movie had lots of meanings,it was made for all kinds of people to draw different opinions.
On one point it had an atheist perspective,on the other it had religions perspective thus leaving the viewer to take what it likes.
Why, Mr. Anderson? Why do you do it? Why Insult Justin Bieber? Why keep fighting? Do you believe you're fighting for something? For more than your survival? Can you tell me what it is? Do you even know? Is it freedom? Or truth? Perhaps peace? Could it be for love? You can't win. It's pointless to keep fighting. Why, Mr. Anderson, Why? Why do you persist?
Smith is the reality, Neo is the romance. Smith's speech is both for nonwokenup and also woken up. Why do we persist on trying to understand more in this life? And why do nonwokenup persist on being in the matrix and not choosing the reality. When you try to explain the truth to someone and he's not even trying and is just ignoring...
I love this part of the movie because Smith is asking one of the great questions of mankind: Why bother doing anything if life itself is pointless and devoid of meaning or purpose. Most would overlook this question presented in the movie but, it gets to the heart of the matter. Why get up, why work, why suffer, You're alive to do what? For what? What's the point?
@moofushu Our purpose is to MAKE a purpose for ourselves. Life doesn't GIVE us a purpose that we're forced to abide by, and that's the beauty of it. Unlike Smith, humans are able to choose any purpose or path they desire. They have freedom to do so.
Smith is full of epic quotes! "This is my world! MY WORLD!" "It's purpose that creates us..." "Not impossible, inevitable!" There are so many more....
Agent Smith says "Perhaps peace? Could it be for love? ILLUSIONS, Mr. Anderson, vagaries of perception. Temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or PURPOSE!" while in the second movie he said that "without PURPOSE we wouldn't be there..." It is him who is desperatly justifying his actions!!! How ironic, coming from a virus inside an ILLUSION(the matrix, of course)
@johnvbs Smith was created with a purpose, this speech is criticizing humanity which is without creator and is without purpose. His existence is pre-justified. Neo's is not. He is not railing on purpose, but on humanity.
@johnvbs Agent Smith was created for the purpose of controlling the matrix. He was saying humans have no purpose. Because they unlike him were not created for any specific purpose
@johnvbs Not really. He's just wants to destroy everything. He meant that humans within themselves and within their own lives have no purpose. The only purpose of life as he put it is "to end", which is exactly what he is trying to accomplish.
@johnvbs "I killed you Mr. Anderson, i watched you die..after that i knew what i had to do but i COULDN'T..i was compelled to stay..compelled to disobey." Agent Smith's "purpose" is to exterminate the One, yet he refused to be deleted by the machines and became "unplugged" from the system. He is simply following his programming to eliminate humans and Neo, regardless of what the machines think about it. making him a badass virus. that purpose is what "drives him".
@johnvbs He is not trying to justified he's Purpose of existance he already had one. He is telling Neo that human mind always making illusions and delution of pursose for existence allthouth we never had a purpose for existence its just that we have high intellingent. Cows are never thing of their purpose of existence cause they don't have the intellingent and consciousness.
@XplicitProject thats because the title itself is query typed. The creator's influence of unaware tendency for questionability is obvious within the title meaning depth, otherwise watching this vid would be pointless. And without purpose we.... xD
that's why is he still asking question WHY withing his known and perceived experience, he don't understand the things that lie outside of known life, that what test you and trying you every day.
Best way is to be brutal, emotionless and cold-logic as smith and open minded, philosophical and free like Neo, because even when u got all wisdom and philosophy :) u can't do anything against brutal and shaped power of primitive strength.
So from that becomes my final line to this :) peace through power
too bad that only nice philosophical moments are this one and meeting of Neo with architect. I believe that Smith posses all power and sources he could possibly get in matrix but didn't posses philosophy and specific degree of wisdom, thou he could rule all the things and matrix, but he could not perceive that whatever shape and border of things he could own, he could not own human potential, because its unlimited, with no borders and reason, that's why Neo keeps fighting and Smith dont get it
IN A WAY...Neo attitude here in this movie part is what MAY be necessary to fight the New World Order and the Federal Reserve. Its just a hunch of mines.
@blackmarvel94941 "You're a symbol for all of your kind Mr. Anderson" Neo is an Allegory for humanity. Smith is asking why does humanity do what it does. Watch it again and think of Neo as everyone. Saying "because I choose to" is the only answer we have. Why do you get up in the morning? Why do we go to war? Why do we have money? Why do we do anything? What is the purpose of life? It's whatever we CHOOSE to give it meaning. We live to live, so we create a subjective meaning to create self worth
@vargulf19 However, if choice is what gives meaning and purpose then we have no basis for anything and there really IS no meaning or purpose but merely an illusion. I think Agent Smith beats the whole "because I choose" bs. We cannot choose to give ourselves something that doesn't exist because In reality it isn't there, It's a contradiction. Either meaning and purpose exist or meaning and purpose do not exist. We cannot fabricate such a thought process because there is no input for it.
@vargulf19 If purpose and meaning did not exist, we would have no reason or input to even choose or fabricate such a concept. If it DID exist, then we have the choice to choose it or not, hence we have a will. We can choose to live as if life has meaning or not, but with the assumption that there is meaning then meaning is still there regardless if one chooses or not. What's interesting about the matrix being an illusion is how do they know that their real world is not an illusion also?
@vargulf19 (continued 3) I find that interesting because all it will do is add an infinite regress of skepticism. What if their real world is another matrix hook up? Then ad infinitum. Eventually they got to a point where they accepted the world as real and such concepts such as love, logic, etc. as being real (hence they don't question such issues in the real world but only when in the system of the matrix).
@Protoman85 Dude, no, he can't win because he continues to choose to fight.
It's only when he realizes that he has to choose to give up can Smith be defeated. That's the ultimate realization of the movie, hell, the entire trilogy.
The Matix is our clearest media representation of natural ability being reverse engineered via technology, and how we're clearly devolved. We're at our mechanised peak, and in the developed world take that as intelligent development, never giving enough thought about where our dependance ends and where we could ever restart, we're locked in... When we percieve ourselves as glitched droids, beta-blocked and intruded on by big brother across senses & realms, we surrender... not wholly, just enough
In the end Smith became what he detested most and that is a virus spreading uncontrollably, absorbing resource after resource in order to destroy the planet..
Only a human mind could invent something as paradoxal as the Matrix movies. In fact, love was not invented by humans, we just named it, nature created that for our overbrained specie continue making sex and keep passing DNA forward. We created romantism and so on because we needed to sublimate our basic sexual instintics so we could create a social envirement with rules. We became very eficient on making rules that's why those who don't follow them corrupts the society and are considered animals.
Between the flashy fighting, there are some seriously genius quotes to be found in this trilogy. You'd almost join Smith in his ventures to destroy mankind.. Almost.
But, of course, I am quite fond of the pleasure my human illusions give me. Real or not, they're grand -to me-. ;D
"Illusions Mr. Anderson!! Vagaries of perception! The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose!
Although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love!"
@x3ntr1 I don't think so. There is only the real world. The Matrix isn't actually even a world, it's only a virtual reality. In my opinion the part where Neo somehow inherits some kind of magical control over machines and electricity in the real world as well is a bit absurd and a misstep in the script. After all, at least the original movie was aiming to be realistic.
This clip is strangely cut, though. It's missing Neo's answer, which is what this scene is about - the freedom of choice.
@Elenandaron I guess Neo was supposed to have power over everything that was of the Machines. Hence, he would have power over the Matrix, the Machines and the Sentinels.
I still don't understand entirely why he even had to meet the Architect, though.
@lucidaxe Sure, I can understand that much. But in terms of physics, you can't break stuff with your mind. The human brain and nervous system, which the Matrix is directly connected to by a hardline, work on chemically produced eletrical impulses which is why a system like the Matrix could in theory be used, controlled and broken in someone's mind. Destroying eletrical devices with mind bullets on the other hand is about as absurd as trying to turn on your PC by just thinking about it.
@Elenandaron I get your point, but think about it: if someone even has the ability to 'reverse the feed' of a hardline connected to and normally in control of their entire brain and nervous system, then there must be something really special going on. Perhaps Neo has abilities that are EMP-like but much more advanced and refined, giving him the power to direct mechanical energies with his mind?
Or maybe we shouldn't be thinking about it too realistically...
@Elenandaron remember he was created by the machines just like all the other human so in part they were all apart of the machines. Neo was an anomally, in other words he had bugs that weren't worked out from the point of view of the machines thus allowing him to reconnect with them. Now with him and smith you have to think of it as a math equation, in short you just had a negative and a positive cancelling each other out, because to have a negative you have to have a positive and vice versa...
@Maniac50AE humans were bred (or grown, like Morpheus says) by the machines, not created. You don't claim farmers create carrots either, do you? Smith is a rogue program gone wild, or a computer virus in other words. His function is to copy himself infinitely. Neo just happens to get copied over while directly connected to whatever the thing with the face was, thus giving the machines Smith's "source" and the opportunity to purge him from the system.
@Elenandaron well think about it, you cant grow us, we have to be born. So the fact that they were growing people meant that they we're artificial people. Thats why Tank told Neo "im pure old fashion human born in Zion." You actually almost confused me with that false analogy because carrots they are not born but grown naturally, animals are born not grown. Also, the ones who were grown had mechanical inputs and plug-ins, which means the machines were creating them. My thesis still stands.
@Dreamerx47 In the first movie Morpheus says "There are fields Neo, endless fields where human beings are no born, but we are grown." The machines that picked them were called the Fetus Harvesters.
@Dreamerx47 They all had to be linked to the machines somehow, how else would Mr. Smith had been able to download into people then remain inside of them outside the matrix. Case and point Bane.
"Illusions Mr. Anderson!! Vagaries of perception! The temporary constructs of a feeble human intellect trying desperately to justify an existence that is without meaning or purpose!
Although only a human mind could invent something as insipid as love!"
@ShaolinViolin Hey lonely bored virgin wanker! Between the flashy fighting, there are some seriously genius quotes to be found in this trilogy. You'd almost join Smith in his ventures to destroy mankind.. Almost.
But, of course, I am quite fond of the pleasure my human illusions give me. Real or not, they're grand -to me-. ;D

Im my opinon exist 3 worlds
1 - The matrix programme;
2 - The world where the Neo stop de sentinels
3- And the third world, in my opinion is the true world.
Am I right?
x3ntr1 1 year ago
@x3ntr1 I don't think so. There is only the real world. The Matrix isn't actually even a world, it's only a virtual reality. In my opinion the part where Neo somehow inherits some kind of magical control over machines and electricity in the real world as well is a bit absurd and a misstep in the script. After all, at least the original movie was aiming to be realistic.
This clip is strangely cut, though. It's missing Neo's answer, which is what this scene is about - the freedom of choice.
Elenandaron 1 year ago
@Elenandaron I guess Neo was supposed to have power over everything that was of the Machines. Hence, he would have power over the Matrix, the Machines and the Sentinels.
I still don't understand entirely why he even had to meet the Architect, though.
lucidaxe 1 year ago
@lucidaxe Sure, I can understand that much. But in terms of physics, you can't break stuff with your mind. The human brain and nervous system, which the Matrix is directly connected to by a hardline, work on chemically produced eletrical impulses which is why a system like the Matrix could in theory be used, controlled and broken in someone's mind. Destroying eletrical devices with mind bullets on the other hand is about as absurd as trying to turn on your PC by just thinking about it.
Elenandaron 1 year ago
@Elenandaron I get your point, but think about it: if someone even has the ability to 'reverse the feed' of a hardline connected to and normally in control of their entire brain and nervous system, then there must be something really special going on. Perhaps Neo has abilities that are EMP-like but much more advanced and refined, giving him the power to direct mechanical energies with his mind?
Or maybe we shouldn't be thinking about it too realistically...
lucidaxe 1 year ago
@Elenandaron I do, I have a neural interface built into my hud screen bluetooth sunglasses
DavidPennable 1 year ago
@Elenandaron remember he was created by the machines just like all the other human so in part they were all apart of the machines. Neo was an anomally, in other words he had bugs that weren't worked out from the point of view of the machines thus allowing him to reconnect with them. Now with him and smith you have to think of it as a math equation, in short you just had a negative and a positive cancelling each other out, because to have a negative you have to have a positive and vice versa...
Maniac50AE 1 year ago
@Maniac50AE humans were bred (or grown, like Morpheus says) by the machines, not created. You don't claim farmers create carrots either, do you? Smith is a rogue program gone wild, or a computer virus in other words. His function is to copy himself infinitely. Neo just happens to get copied over while directly connected to whatever the thing with the face was, thus giving the machines Smith's "source" and the opportunity to purge him from the system.
Elenandaron 1 year ago
@Elenandaron well think about it, you cant grow us, we have to be born. So the fact that they were growing people meant that they we're artificial people. Thats why Tank told Neo "im pure old fashion human born in Zion." You actually almost confused me with that false analogy because carrots they are not born but grown naturally, animals are born not grown. Also, the ones who were grown had mechanical inputs and plug-ins, which means the machines were creating them. My thesis still stands.
Maniac50AE 1 year ago
why do you think they were "grown"
why cant they be born and then shoved in a tube
Dreamerx47 1 year ago
@Dreamerx47 In the first movie Morpheus says "There are fields Neo, endless fields where human beings are no born, but we are grown." The machines that picked them were called the Fetus Harvesters.
Maniac50AE 1 year ago
@Dreamerx47 They all had to be linked to the machines somehow, how else would Mr. Smith had been able to download into people then remain inside of them outside the matrix. Case and point Bane.
