  • There are simply no words, Lord Jesus, not one!

  • Oh my God! This is extraordinary . . . it exceeds all limits of endurance. A classic spiritual like we have never heard. 1965 is the year, and albeit in ill health, she delivers great singing in a style so pure, so beautiful, and so strong. She's a top performer like Garland, Crosby, et al .. . she set the standard.

  • rest in peace wish that i could have met you

  • So spiritual!

  • She is so beautiful :)

  • RIP troy davis, mark mcphail and all other people who were killed for no reason! I hope you are in that city called Heaven

  • This is representative of the current state of American sentiment. "No hope for tomorrow." How could you dispute that? An economy trashed? Lying narcissistic politicians, self-serving, and odious of the Americans?

  • amber bullocks version my god

  • @ioneking i thought i was the only one who realized that!!!!!!

  • You don't have to be religious to appreciate gospel. I'm an atheist and I can't get enough of it.

  • oh my God. thats what i call singing with PASSION.

  • Shes absolutely beautiful. I just love her. I wish I was born during the time she was alive so I meet her. Beautiful voice. Thanku for ur gifts

  • @ioneking lol...i feel you...such seriousness with that statement too...it truly made me smile..

  • very very movin' .

    Great Mahalia : I miss you !

  • I almost cried listening to this. Beautiful.

  • @moomooford Type in Marie Guillian by Mahalia Jackson She is a huge fan. Be blessed.......

  • This is classically beautiful . . . like the Parthenon, the Pantheon, the Colsseum. Superlative performance of an eternally magnificent Mahalia, whose name in Hebrew suggests "the one who praises God." No accident there, for sure.

  • wow what a voice what a talent.

  • thank you for this. think is my favorite Mahalia song

  • im a sample this for a christian rapper

  • How can anyone reproduce perfection?

  • the first song i heard of her was HOW I GOT OVER i was like 7yrs old and i loved her every since. and u can tell when she gets into the song when her voice sounds more strong and powerful HOW I GOT OVER is one of them. but she sounds powerful in all her songs.

  • Oh Mahalia, When you sing, you tell a story! So glad I have been able to listen to you since I was a child!!

  • This woman just gets better evertime i lisen to her .she is and always will be the greatest gospel singer that ever lived BH

  • @cederontherule209

  • Well I have this solo next week and after hearing this I realize I have to work on it, shes amazing

  • @BLAUR111115 ..Good luck, i am sure you will do fine!

  • @BLAUR111115 Did they record it cause if they have it up here i wanna look at it cause i sang this solo to like a few months ago

  • Mahalia Jackson is the reason why i hate "gospel" music now. Its obvious she was a deep spiritual being, and a loving person. The face, if you will, of a true Christian ( and Dr. Martin Luther King of course). Her voice is moving and beautiful, unlike the "gospel" you hear today, or music in general.

  • @BLAUR111115 Please can you send the text?? It is so good to hear with hearth!

  • The most poweful voice ever. I love her so much. Thanks for posting this.

  • This is magical and awe inspiring. Nobody can duplicate this sound.

  • check out city called heaven knox college for a killer solo!

  • :0)

  • she is the best!

  • This is such a beautiful song...I had the honor of being the soloist for when my HS Choir sung it. Mahalia's voice is soooooooooooo amazing...I only wished I could have done it half as well as she did.

  • in awe... i posted one of my other favorite performances of this song....

  • Dasource, Thanks so much for this great song. I think "Garden of Prayer" may be one of the best if not the best record she made. Thanks!

  • lol, i have never heard anyone express love for Mahalia Jackson like that! God bless you bruh, glad you enjoyed it!

  • Recorded in 1965 in Chicago's Greater Salem Baptist Church, it is a fantastic recording from the album "Garden of Prayer." I wish this would be released again in CD.

  • Mahalia loved singing the old songs - they were so rich with emotion and meaning. Thank you for posting this, DaSourceSpr06!

  • No problem my friend, just tryin to be a blessing! Plus this song is one of my favorites!

  • @PennTrafford ... sometimes I am driven .. sometimes I don't know which way I can run ... this is a song about slavery, which is what makes it so harrowing and at the same time so uplifting to listen to ..
