  • holy shit 2 dislikes o_O

  • victor wooten is a bass player's favorite bass player. he is monstrous. he is like the best drummer put into the world's best bass player. fuckin nuts

  • jam in G no ? ^^

  • you guys are retards, Victor is a great musician

  • ye me neither, but wat relevence does ur comment hav wit dis vid??

  • lol a toy? Vic does get a good deep tone, it's the video's sound quality you don't like

  • who d fuk are u to say wat bass shud sound lyk,it shud watever huevers playin it wants it to

  • I'm a proffesor of classical proportions in complex theory of universal tones, harmonies and music:)

  • oh really, i'm Jesus Christ, nice to meet you. no ones gonna believe that, this is the internet. you can tell people you're anything.

  • That is called Slap. It creates a sharper tone and a more metallic sound for a Electric Bass. Also I LOVE how you have horrible spelling in the second comment and still misspell Professor in the 3rd, yet the rest is spelled right. And there are Music Theorist's. And universal tones? There are 12 tones in the the language. Get your shit straight before you try to come off as someone who thinks they have divine authority over ALL music. Now go crawl back into your little hole. Burn................

  • Yea YOU tell. It's your opinion and if it doesn't benefit the community than keep it to yourself

  • Haha, dude you're an idiot. You're sitting there trying to diss bass as an instrument, and at the same time acting like you have any knowledge about music or how to play it. Music THEORY mainly focuses on notes and notes alone. If you stopped playing notes, music would still exist.

Also, believe it or not, what YOUR idea of good music is doesn't mean a damn thing to the rest of us who know how to do more than talk out our ass.

  • Music THEORY focuses on SOUND and how to show emotions involved in style as well, especially in SOLO parts like in this case. And yes I shoul not talk about preferences, -DE GUSTIBUS NON DISPUTANDUM-

(some love Theatre, some love circus)

  • Yeah, and music is so much more than "Sound."

It's feel, it's sense, it's everything. I've seen people who are completely deaf jamming to music. How is that? It's more than just sound. That's why theory is overrated.

  • is it fun to know the alphabet, but not know how to read a book?

  • it your phonebook, vic, it could be even more fun for your fans, blang blang slap to-to pritamble ba-boom!

  • I bet u r something around 20 years old... so still many things to learn about, he he

  • Dude you're an idiot. Age has nothing to do with musical knowledge. For instance I know kids who are quite a bit more open minded and musical then you.

Victor slaps like crazy but he also holds down the groove. That puts him MILES ahead of you.

  • In the words of Victor, "All that flashy stuff I do is fun and all, I like to call it the icing on the cake, and just like real icing, it don't last long without that cake"

  • said in a perfect way

  • are you serious?

  • I,m serious.. just like Karlheinz Stockhausen - did you ever heard the name, kid?

  • MILES ahead of me? in what? maybe MILES DAVIS -"miles ahead"- know this stuff? ha ha, if not you never gonna get the thing! and I'm afraid you really don't know single thing about me. And yes - as I was a kid I was the smartest guy in town - just like you:)

  • What makes you think I don't know that? You don't know anything about me either.

My point is this, don't be close minded to ANY technique. They are all part of the language. If you can't use it to speak that's your fault, not the technique's.

If you're gonna keep this going, respond to me so I know you've said something.

Oh and you're showing a lot of immaturity by using obscure musicians to try to be "better" than me. That doesn't mean a damn thing you child.

  • so, here we go, you said something ineresting this time I must admit!

both of us are quite into music I guess

  • 2

about bass: don't like when technique's "oh-oh" goes first, ventilator blowing into Steve Vai's hair to make his solos more spectacular - pathetic! okey? for me is only one option: Central Bass (Bill Laswell's conception) music itself, withoud feeding ego - simplest thhing but hardest to get, 'cos we are egos... but music is free!

don't want to sound like preacher, sorry, take it as... game, funny game, anyway musicians are part of the entertainment:)

  • The "Oh-oh" doesn't come first here. No ventilators are blowing Victors hair around. That'd look pretty dumb anyway.

Vic isn't "playing bass" here. He's speaking, and just because he's not saying something deep and slow doesn't make him "wrong." He still grooves at all times, though the groove may not be conventional.

If music is truly "free" like I and you believe it is, doesn't that mean there isn't really a "Right" or "Wrong" way to speak with it?

  • @dankton1976 You obviously haven't watched any victor stuff other than this. Watch Amazing Grace. Watch Norwegian Wood. Watch his solo with DMB. Tell me he doesn't have soul after that. He can play a "full bass line without feeding his ego (which, by the way, is totally nonexistent if you have ever had the privilege of meeting him)" better than anyone else. The only reason he will do stuff like this is for fun. This is why he's been the "Best Bassist in the World", voted by PROFESSIONALS...

  • You're right,

One of James Jamerson's or jaco's basselines is better than 100 of victor wooten's dumb over-technical, soul-less bass wanks.

however, it's mot good to boast about music theory; it is only a means to achieve an end - it dosen't do anything on its own.

  • @voncoolio I think you're missing the point, it says Jam, not bassline. If you want a bassline go listen to the band he plays in, not a jam clinic.

  • LOL! Its called professor, Mr Proffesor

  • in my native language we cut the bullshit leaving it like "sor"

  • come also in italy please!! we need more groove asd

  • Wooten. so good, even he wants to jam with himself

  • I was there for this clinic. the man is nuts. shortly after he does that loop. he does a loop with a quarter note E, and i think it was a 48 count rest. the man is nuts.

  • Not nuts just Vic haha

  • ...loop or someone else is playing? the ending I mean

  • it's all loop

everything you hear while his hand isn't on the bass

  • he has a reaalllyy long loop and its cool to watch him do it live cause he adds one note to it everytime it comes back around

  • What are you talking about loop? Haven't you seen the cover of Victor's solo CD Soul Circus. He has six other arms that he uses to play all of those "loops." After all, he is the funktopus. =P

  • thats...is quality

  • first to comment this vid oh yeah! this guy is god
