  • 3:17-3:23 oh how wrong they were

  • "Bugati will be making sallons..."

Ah he was so wrong back then.

  • Song at 2:23?

  • as long as small willys are around super cars wont die out lol now where are the keys to my lambo :P

  • As long as Racing is still alive super cars won't die out.

  • The standard spec Diablo is powered by a mid mounted 4 liter V6 Twin Turbo pushing out 425hp@7300 RPM with 535nm of torque at 2300RPM. It offered power doors, windows and seats, and could accelerate 0-62MPH in 7.3 seconds setting a new record at the time.

  • @Riot454di u mean 4.5 from 0-62mph not 7.2 lol a miura p400s could do 0-62 in 6.7 lol

  • What was that song??? at like 4:10

  • @timothypt "The Drugs Dont Work" by The Verve

  • Horray for the second age of the supercar. If you want a supercar these days you are spoilt for choice

  • 1:10 Jeremy Claxman? lol whut? x3

  • @furmaster212 he was parodying Jeremy Paxman and Michael Howard interview.

  • every news conversation ever

  • LOL bugatti now is actually planning a saloon to go along with the veyron

  • Well, Clarkson was right...Bugatti is making a big saloon car now.

  • YYYYYEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHH

  • Clarkson has often predicted the death of the supercar, and then the next year: New supercar, even faster than the old model...

  • <3 radiohead

  • Oh if only he knew what was coming after they made this show lol.

  • Is it skittish?

  • "Bugatti is now own by Volkswagen, and"...if I had a Crystal Ball I could of told everyone that they were planning on making the Veyron - which is quite simply the greatest automotive engineering achievement and expression in all of history. Jeremy Clarkson here, showing much foresight (!)

  • the fact is hes right, it WILL die, someday in the future, just think, NA engines are dying, Us recently announced that all cars MUST do 60mpg in the future and the euro 5 regulations isnt helping either...

  • not a dying breed anymore lol

  • 5:04 Looool at diablo introduction :D Didn't understand more than 10% of what he said with his british accent though :D

  • @MrOrmanley Sounds like "The Who - Won't get fooled again"

  • Wat's the song starting at 4:30 ? please respond

  • Plus as much as I love watching him on car shows, it is hilarious to see his face when hes wrong lol

  • @EVILSPAWN1000

Ok I get it dude dont get so mad lol I worded that badly, I didn't mean to call him stupid or anything, I just thought it was funny how he made that comment about Bugatti and then they came out with the Veyron, and you're right, I had no idea about the Gablier or whatever u said, but btw you said "only 2 turbos", but that's 2 more than my truck has haha

  • The funny thing is, not long after they did this clip, the Zonda came out, and it was as mad as a badger on drugs !!

  • That reg isn't active anymore. I hear it's because so many rich sheikh's bought them and took them over to their country.

  • So Clarkson then thought supercars were too mad at the time.. And now he thinks most aren't crazy enough?

  • could he be anymore wrong hahahahaha

  • 1:09 Jeremy Claxman??? :D

  • @dnbveno Yeah, a.k.a. sir Robert Markson ;)

  • @dnbveno That is a parody of Jeremy Paxman who does interviews like this, and repeats his question one thousand times until it is answered. Look up his interviews... they are hilarious!

  • this video precisely shows the mclaren f1's qualities. an unexperienced driver like clarkson cant drive it, but an experienced driver like tiff can and if you can drive it its THE BEST!!!!!

    stupid veyron...

  • well I guess we know how this played out

  • Bugatti is launching a saloon that will make the RR Phantom look like a Vectra. The Bugatti Galibier.Veyron engine, only 2 superchargers in stead of 4 turbos.Like the Veyron did 4 supercars, the Galibier will do 4 luxury saloons.Raise the bar to a whole new level. So Clarkson wasn`t WRONG,he was just a bit off on the dates and order of things.

  • Bugatti is making now making big saloons now... so the jokes on you.

  • God I wish I could have been there when the Veyron came out and he realized just how wrong his "Bugatti is owned by VW and so will move on to large saloons" comment. If only he knew how totally opposite his prediction was lol

  • @Paaka70 I really wanna be there when Bugatti launches the Galibier and you realize how stupid YOUR comment looks.Get a clue, and THEN rip on Clarkson.

  • "Look at me i have the smallest willy in the whole world!!!!" LOL

  • @Testdrive98 Lol funny as !

  • the super car was just put on hold

  • music from film leon, with portman oldman and jean reno.

  • "The supercar is a dying breed".... and then Pagani came around with the Zonda.

  • super cars are too 80's too in your face ! really huh and now we have HYPER cars lol

  • I'm glad to say that Clarkson's wrong. Lucky for us.

  • This video is from a turning point where the supercar breed was running dry, and shortly afterwards loads of supercars were released. Pagani, Lambourghinis by Audi, Ferrari 360 and Enzo, Koienegsegg, Aston Martin Vanquish, Ford GT, Ascari KZ1, New Maseratis, Noble M12, TVR Tuscan, New Honda NSX, Porsche GT, and Mosler M900S

  • Clarkson is ridiculous. He prefers the just as stripped down and raw F40, but does nothing but bash the F1. The two cars are more alike than they are different and his bias towards one over the other is silly. Getting into an F1 is exciting because it lacks any kind of electronic assists, just as the F40 does.

  • is it sketchy?...hadsahdkasjdhaksjdhahisaf... is it sketchy?...ajsdhsafhafhjahsfuahsfdsafjhasfjksad... is it sketchy???? lmao

  • Clarkson is still right. All this shit we have these days, even the Zonda, Bugatti, Lambo, Ferrari etc are all bollocks.

Take away the ABS, the safety features, the airbags, the traction control all that shit... when I hop in a supercar I want to feel like I might die everytime I drive this machine!!!

This is where the real passion comes from. Before the nanny-state took over. This is to me, why cars like the McLaren F1 and the F40 will always be the greatest supercars!!!

  • @Primowave You just sound like a moron trying to look big and manly on the internet.

  • luckily, we got the koenigsegg, the pagani zonda, the reventon, etc. ....

  • So... *is* it skittish?

  • The supercar industry was only just recovering from economic downfall when this was filmed, it has nothing to do with style.

Now even the Americans are making supercars. Good ones too (no, not the Corvette, that's not a supercar).

  • @C63AMGestate if you don't consider the corvette a super car, then what kind of super car does america makes? The only one i can think of is the ford gt

  • @TheManGuyDude The Corvette is front engined so doesn't really come under the category of supercar.

    Saleen S7, Aero SSC, etc.

  • @C63AMGestate So i guess Aston Martins doesn't consider a supercar to you either?

  • @TheManGuyDude Grand tourer in my eyes. Same with the SLR Mercedes. And imo, the Porsche 911 is a sports car.

The term 'supercar' only really came about after the mid engined Lamborghini Miura and generally refers to a roadcar, although this is indeed 'in my eyes' so others may consider anything in a stratospheric level of performance and price.

  • @TheManGuyDude Viper SRT 10

  • @80sglamfan By c63amgestate's logic, he says cars without mid engine layout isn't a super car. That's why he doesn't even consider Aston Martins supercars.

  • how times have changed lol

  • Clarkson if you only knew you would have eaten your hat. lol end of the super cars LOL

  • I am So sending this vid to top gear... if i can

  • You can always rely on Clarkson being wrong

  • mclarens next car will be a big mercedes..........lol a big mercedes that kicks ass

  • It's discreet *puts on sunglasses* And elegant. YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH

  • Tiff, the Mc'Claren's rubbish aint it? lol

  • the end of the supercar area, if he could only see the competition now

  • Whahah the part with VW that owns bugatti

  • is it skittish?

  • Bugatti is now owned by Volkswagen, and is planning to make big saloons like this... Thumbs up if you thought that was funny.

  • This was first broadcast in June 2000, Clarkson quit Top Gear in 1999.

  • Watching Tiff thrash on the F1 at the beginning was,...well... arousing

  • At least the supercar business came back strong in the early 2000s after this video was made. The 90s had VERY little and the 2000s were LOADED.

  • Jeremy CLaxman wtf and lol is it skittish?

  • @sup3rcars: Car journalists have more of a peek into the future than those of us outside of the industry. Take this video for example - it's from the middle of the year 2000, yet Jeremy already knew about the Mclaren Mercedes SLR, which didn't come out until four years later. People like Jeremy get more information about the future of the car industry than others, so they're more qualified to make predictions about the future of cars than you or me.

  • @sup3rcars lol

  • It was so nice that Clarkson was proved wrong. The Zonda, Murcielago, Carrera GT, Enzo, SLR, Veyron, and on, and on...

He's saying much the same thing these days, that we've peaked and that supercars will either get worse or cease to be made. I hope he's wrong again, and I'm sure he hopes so, too.

  • @TheMrqatar fife gear

  • who is tif needell ?

  • V-DUB in da house holding it down on the engineering tip yo, representing deutschland

  • is that a prototype os the SLR? its exactly the same as the production but at the time of the f360

  • 4:07 WAS HE TALKING ABOUT KIFF THE ONE ARMED SOUNDMAN?????

  • I've driven a Diablo 6.0

Unless you're an astronaut, it's about as surreal as you can get on this planet.

  • 3:20 Bugatti is now owned by VW and plans to make big saloons like this...

    i lolled :D

  • @dunnobutwayne

the thing was, though, was they actually did make a big saloon prototype to compete with the RR Silver Seraph. Only after that fell through that Ferdinand Piech order for the Veyron to be built

  • It's funny to look back at the old videos where everyone was saying the Supercar was dead. And now they're at it again, with Clarkson's emo review of an Aston (can't remember which one, they're all the same anyway) saying once again that it's the last of its kind. The Green Police are going to wipe out the supercar.

Well sorry, that's just not going to happen. Whether the cars become electric, run on fuel-sipping jets, or if gasoline is made out of algae, the love of speed shall NEVER die.

  • Comment removed

  • Oh boy, you'll have a nice surprise when they release the bugatti veyron, the murcielago, gallardo, audi r8, atom, DB9, DB7, DBS, and so many more!!

  • @chalaohp The DB7 was already available back then

  • hahahahahhahahahahahahah

  • It was actually the end of an supercar era, the new one began with the murcielago and it ends with the veyron, 5 years from now we will be in the same situation, until 2017 when new and exciting supercars will start appearing again.

  • Jeremy disagrees because he can't drive worth a damn compared to Tiff.

  • Jezza has clearly NEVER driven my grannies Morrie Minor......nuff said !

  • Is it skittish? Is it skittish? Is it skittish? Is it skittish?

  • I feel like being from the future and staring at jeremy thinking... if only he knew all these supercars coming up...

  • Ironically, When Bugatti was bought by Volkswagen, they made the Veyron and the mercedes slr was an amazing roadcar. This was right before the big supercar boom

  • lambos r beautiful miura diablo murcielago

  • Man he was talking down on Tiff so bad, lol kinda like "Im way better than you and Top gear is way more popular now than when you were here" haha I know he was all jokin but it was funny!

  • I'm not sure I agree with Clarkson on much of this...

  • 3:15 - "Bugatti is now owned by Volkswagen, and is planning to make big saloons like this"

If he knew what would come 10 years later.. o_O

  • @Luff55g Because that's what was happening at the time - they had propsed a saloon car. Volkswagen bought Bugatti in the late 90s, around the time this was filmed no doubt. It wasn't a prediction of the future, it was him reporting on what VW had proposed to do.

  • anybody know the song at the beginning?

  • The Verve . woot!

  • I always liked the look of the Diablo.

  • I remember being very confused as a child because I thought his name was Tiffany Dell. True story :)

  • The F1 designer had an NSX and used some attributes from it on the F1

  • i will never pay 1 000 000 dollars for a car

  • @CCbadboy90

yea, because you'll spend your millions elsewhere? lolz.... XD

  • @CCbadboy90 if u can't afford it

  • @siwuszek who can?

  • @CCbadboy90 Of course you won't, you'll never have that kind of money.

  • @C63AMGestate will you?

  • @CCbadboy90 Who knows?

  • Nobody dares to throw a Mclaren around a track like this anymore. They are just worth too much money.

  • Clarkson didn't explain why he doesn't like the McLaren F1.

  • @taranchula97

    He did on top gear.

  • hahahaha, Jeremy Claxman

  • The Lamborghini Diablo.. The most beautiful supercar ever made. Stunning design and looks by miles..

  • @KbaltRX i think its an ugly car personally im not a Lamborghini fan

  • @KbaltRX you are old

  • I find it Ironic that clarkson finds the mclaren to be too expensive and unrealistic and yet has a perpetual hard on for the bugatti veyron, which now costs almost twice what the mclaren did when it was launched.

  • @CastThyHeretic

not to mention the bugatti veyron is even more impracticable than a mclaren considering how often things break down and need to be repaired with it. Any car loaded with turbos is going to have a relatively short lifespan if not maintained properly. Jeremy is just bias..mclaren and Ferrari have had a long and rival history, Jeremy is obviously one-sided and isn't afraid to show it. There is not doubt the f40 is a great car, but imo falls short of being the best.

  • Skittish is my new favourite word, with that much power in a car so light without a rear spoiler, I would imagine it would be skittish, look at 0:46, thats exactly what a rear wing would car, no weight to put the power down

  • @MegaMrDamo

The mclaren f1 was meant to be used as an everyday car, if it was intended for racing they would have slapped a spoiler on it like they did with the gtr version and sent it off to win the le mans series :P

  • maybe needell is the stig, if you compare photos on google they might at least be the same size and needell is obviously a good driver.

  • Wait, in that sort of car, you would probably be called a cock. But that means your willy would be huge??

  • How wrong they were.

Zonda/Bugatti's are the current supercars along with Lambo's

And the new Ferarri that you can only drive on a track...

  • that song brings back wierd fellings to me because it came out when i was about 2 and i can remember it as well as the feelings of when i was a toddler, or i just heard it for the first time when i was 2 it might have been out for a while

  • Comment removed

  • What Jeremy says at 5:23 isn't half true!!!!

  • when was this? what year?

  • needell is so much more a pro than that plonker clarkson

  • its funny how wrong he is

  • Didn't that guy went from top gear to 5th gear?

  • I hate how musclecars and sportscar's all have been branded as dick-enlargers.

If you buy a fast car, it's just because you have a small dick, not because you enjoy driving, and want a fast and exciting car that's nice to look at.

  • Damn, Needell can shift!

  • He's so wrong

  • Jeremy must have been high when he made this review.

  • no Tiff Needell is not the stig hes the guy from fift gear

  • bugatti will make solune cars :D yea right

  • I bet that Timothy Needell is the Stig

  • @marcoffs95 No, he isn't tall enough.

  • But is it skittish?

  • 3:18 lol jeremy was so wrong in that one

  • @toreto5000 haha yeah, same with the mclaren

  • Wow if Jeremy looked back on this clip he'd laugh at how off his comments were.

  • i think tiff should go to top gear expertise for him and clarkson for his craziness... i think james may is worthless

  • i like how he bashes bugatti, which will (unbenounced to him) produce one of the most extreme supercars ever made. funny how things work out.

  • yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

  • The SLR is a supercar for sure!

  • wow 0:39 actually made me laugh, this car came out when i was in high school and is faster then a SLR i drove a couple weeks ago...

  • Comment removed

  • Bugatti in now owned by VW and will be planning to make big wagons like this....

funny how that turned out... haha... they turned out a veyron instead... the 400km/h space car

  • @hayashiyuuzen i was just about to say that lol

  • They must have started making more supercars right after this video! Zonda, Murci, etc, etc...

    lol

  • Jeremy Claxman =)

  • is it skittish?

  • Jeremy Clarkson is much more entertaining than that Tiffany guy :P

  • i will just say that the best driver out of the two is Tiff, but the most entertaining of the two is Jeremy, easy choice.

  • haha "the supercar is a dying breed"

  • just about the onlybad news are and allways have been, that you can't afford them.

but I guess that's a good thing, because if you could, they would end up like the ford escort cosworth...

  • whatever you say, I'm totally agreed with Jeremy...

not every fast car can become a supercar

  • Now ten years later automakers have brought us The Ferrari Enzo The Koenigsegg CCX The Saleen S7 The SSC Ultimate Aero TT The Bugatti Veyron The Ford GT The Audi R8 The Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 The Porsche Carrera GT The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 The Dodge Viper ACR I don't think the supercar is dead anymore.
  • IMHO a supercar has to verge on the ridiculous, it has to be inpractical, brash, and stripped bare. Veyron, GT, R8, Carrera, Corvette etc are all too "luxurious" and pampering to be true supercars. Supercar to me is Ferrari F40, Countach etc etc

  • @fauxsham just cause a supercar is useable for evry day roads doesnt mean it cant be a supercar.

  • @fauxsham, then u must like the f430 scuderia, its quite like the f40 , and top gear voted it as one of the best out there....

  • @smoke9840142350 the scuderia is a "proper" ferrari yes, unlike some of the more recent "softer" models. The FXX could be a supercar if ever produced, but it won't be. That said, the Koenigsegg CCXR is pretty awesome, and the new rendition of the Hennesey Venom looks amazing. I guess what I mean is that too many newer "supercars" have leather interior, sat nav, surround sound, dvd player and all sorts of "luxuries" and gizmos which, in my opinion at least, in the way.

  • @minivan442 Well that is what he was talking about...In order to bring Supercars back to life, all car makers had to stop making them! If the super car world becomes so boring, then people would be exited for any new models! Clarkson knew what he was talking about! He is a prophet :P

  • obviously weren't expecting the veyron..

  • 2:14 LOL!!! Legend!

  • hes actually boasting.. as Professional Driver.....(Tiff)

  • I am not sure when this was was recorded but he mentioned the F40 but forgot the F50 and it came out b4 the Audi A8. I am glad he is wrong and though at the time it was looking like things were heading that way. But look at some of the "new" supercars they are in ur face but also luxurious inside seems like they found an excellent merger. But he is right the F1 even with the Veyron is still an amazing car 15 years after its production run.

  • actually i wouldnt mind having "that"

  • tiff always sounds like he is about to burst out in laughter whenever he talks
