I have the new DNS-325-110. Please add a video tutorial on how to use it. 1) On how to share home video files with friends. 2) Accessing NAS drive remotely. 3) Add packages, exactly what are packages in the extent of Dlink sense? My machine is the latest DNS-325-110, 1 TB Sharecenter NAS storage drive connected to my Airport Extreme wireless-N router and wirelessly connected also to my iMac computer. It's wirelessly set up together already and my password for it is working.
@822437 You can transfer any file size over the internet. I use it to share home movies with family. You will need Hard Drives for this unit, Dlink did not include drives. You can now use (2) 2TB drives in this file server...4 TB total if you want.
The unit is overpriced in canadian dollars. Does not come with hard drives. It's first retail price was $249.99 I can imagine why hardly anyone would buy it without hard drives. The price has been lowered to $199.99 at bestbuy and it is still over priced. I saw several of these priced at open box for 189.99. Dlink should have included at least one hard drive with this unit. I think this server should be priced at $79.99 Canadian. I had to pull a scam to get hard drives for my DNS 323.
You want to disable GameFuel, if you have enough upstream like most cablemodems, its not needed. Good idea if you have very little upstream (like 56K or less) but otherwise, you want it shooting packets upstream as fast as it can without any thinking at all.
How well do the permission features work? I know that you can create users and groups, so can I, for instance, restrict access to a certain folder on the network drive and grant access to that folder for users that I specify?
Can u list down for me the specs of the power cord of that router?
Coz i might purchase the router on the net, but i have doubts about the power cord as some cords works in some countries only.. thx. Im from Malaysia btw.
dns 323 sucks. Got one for 2yrs now and yesterday it died on me and wont connect. I work as a IT tech so im not stupid^^ now ill have to backup my data elsewhere, HP Mediasmart!
i been looking at a synology nas.. is it possible to share files just as this is like how he has the drive all setup in my computer or are you forced to use the disk station manager?
I give this home server two fucking thumbs down and both feet up dlinks ass. Fucking hard drives don't mount properly. This box SUCKS and FUCKS HARD!!!!!
Get the latest firmware from Dlink for the DGL-4500 and you'll be able to use any USB drive as storage on your network with DLink Smartport software. Pretty slick software.
I really enjoyed this vid. I'm not the best with routers but he worded this very well and it sucks that I watched this after my friend who I live with just bought a netgear router :(
provided you can map network drives to a location on your mac, sure! everything else is built into the NAS. I don't see why the router wouldn't work either
so this video is linked to the router in question's product page... it would have been nice if we could have seen the LCD display in action, rather than just the available connection sockets (which are identical to those of any other router made in the past few years).
see expression: to turn a blind eye. just like i'm going to do now in regards (har har) to your inability to read the comments below... when there are less than 30 so far.
It's a bit of an inside joke. One of the members of the NCIX Gaming Steam group is always complaining that his ping sucks because his mom is streaming Chinese soap operas.
whats the point in getting a wifi that works at the GB scale when the internet does MAX for the fastest internet 100mb/s????
tim0090 1 month ago
@tim0090 If you stream videos on your own network you can have over 100 mb/s.

D-LINK DNS-323 NAS: Does it allow users to transfer files larger then 4 GB? If it does, i am so getting this.

@822437 Yes, you can setup the drives as NTFS, which allower larger file transfers (bigger than FAT32).

Why did you close your right eye with your fingers?
Were you trying to imitate a one-eyed pirate and hence do a bridge to the bittorrent discussion? :P
