I only knew of the Sparks in America in the 80's and I was a 14 year old girl who listened to their hit on K-Roq radio station that played cutting edge rock at the time. I saw their album cover and bought it, then saw them live with one of the singers of the Go Go's.
@truvelocity Same here, I knew them from their songs Tips For Teens and Mickey Mouse on KROQ, and I saw them when they toured for the Sparks From Outer Space album and Jane Wiedlin came out for the Cool Places duet. Would have been 1983 I think. I was 14 too. =)
I first heard Sparks in 1975 when I graduated high school. The album was Propaganda. From that moment I'd become a Sparks fan and bought all the albums that they came out with during the 70s.
I first heard Sparks in 1975 around the time of my graduation from high school. The album was Propaganda and from that moment on, I was hooked, buying every album they ever came out with during the 70s.
My friends never got them.
Sadly, neither did a lot of the world.
Thank goodness for the true fans who really understood how special these guys were.
I loved Sparks when, first saw them on TopofThePops when I was 9. "This Town Aint big Enough for the both of Us". What a voice and what a look I thought. Saw them Last night on the Jonny Ross show, playing "I can't believe that you would believe all the crap In This Song". Wow, what a great song. I love all of it, but especially the piano sections. Just listened to part 1 and 2 of this interview, excellent. The girl was so sweet, laughing non stop. Who was she? Thanks so much for thebest music.
Oh, very much so;-) That song must have been 'Beaver O' Lindy' from their album 'A Woofer in Tweeters's Clothing' (if I hopefully remember correctly, otherwise sue me, Wikipediants). Thank You for checking this out;-)
Tack så mycket, JMedia! I'm a Sparks fan from the beginning, and proud owner of Sparks vinyl albums. "Propaganda," "At Home, At Work, At Play," "ABC" "Don't Leave Me Alone With Her." GREAT music, great artists, ja?
Aber JA doch! STELLAR music indeed, SwedeProof. Got me hooked right the very first time I heard "This town" on the radio over here in '74. Loved their edgier somewhat garage style rock albums of the early 80s, too & have been a (sometimes lonely) fan here in germany ever since;-)
So great to have them back again with a new album nowadays - appreciated even by people from ALL over the world... not so LARGE a place after all, I guess;-)
Hej, jmedia, "This Town" blows me away every time -- I could listen to it 100 times, and it sounds just as amazing -- what a great, great song. I know what you mean...I was a lonely fan, too; most of my friends simply did not get it with Sparks. Ja, new album! New appreciation! More people are FINALLY getting into Sparks, thanks to the many new bands that have listed them as an influence. Tack!

I wonder if anybody who's listened to this interview has tried making the Creme Caramel and if it turned out right.

Fortunately, their die hard fans did.

Same here with many friends just not getting them; seems to have been a common phenomenon around the world... strangely enough.

Great stuff! They are naturals in an interview, and should have achieved monumental fame. Sparks are unmatched, in any generation of music.
