Youtube leanback screwed with my Philips TV, it sucks. There is no way you can log yourself in. It automatically plays a random video when it opens, which sucks. I am totally disappointed.
Does not work on my Samsung Smart TV. Samsung says its a YouTube app and YouTube does not provide any support. Interestingly they both still market it as a new feature

I can't believe that all the money and all of the technology that goes into this and Youtube comes up with a completely fucking stupid format like "leanback".
Those little adds do nothing but piss everybody off. I can't play videos consecutively unless they are all 480p because they load at 1080p and unlike Youtube pausing doesn't help. I can't get rid of the windows frame. It goes on and on.
I'm going to go back to my favourite hobby, ripping them off.

@HumanityWins I use the internet on my television...? I have an entire computer dedicated to the television... movies, youtube, blogging becomes faaaaar easier with a computer on the television when you have a group of people over (like in the video).
Are you speaking of the ten minute time limit? It can be disabled when you make your account an administrative account

This is ridiculous. If I want to see the videos in my playlist, I have to block out part of the screen, and when I want to see the whole screen, I have to hide the playlist. How the heck is this easier to use than the old version where I could see both at once???!! You people are out of your minds.
I don't see why people are hating so much on this. I tried it and it seems really nice if you have a wireless keyboard and just want to watch some videos. In addition, it feels pretty natural to me in the sense of controls.
Guys, you are not understanding the reason for YouTube Leanback. It's not "useless" and "annoying" when you understand the purpose. It's the version of YouTube that will be featured in Google TV later this year (Fall I think).
i don't know why everyone is getting mad at YouTube, i think they're improving, i like kinda like it. I don't know if I'll use this exact thing, but still.

Leanback is awesome... and it finds very interesting videos for me!
The channels could be improved (start with the daily the most rated/viewed) and also the personal channel could be extended with daily global most rated, to keep content quality.
Browsing also could be improved (what is the key to skip 10 secs forward in the video?)
Ah and you should offer me the showtime serials subscription for 50$ per year and stream them in my channel as soon they are aired (you got it, didn't you? ;)

and for all of us video gamers like me. This'll be awesome. I just tried this on some of my subscriptions that has WoW MW2 and Halo and might it say. viewing it like this is better then having to watch with black bars around it..
I actually wouldn't mind that. I just tried it out and the video actually goes FULLSCREEN. For example if you have your laptop or PC connected to your flatscreen instead of just showing the black bars the thing actually takes up THE WHOLE SCREEN.

Guys, you are not understanding the reason for YouTube Leanback. It's not "useless" and "annoying" when you understand the purpose. It's the version of YouTube that will be featured in Google TV later this year (Fall I think).

Leanback is awesome... and it finds very interesting videos for me!
The channels could be improved (start with the daily the most rated/viewed) and also the personal channel could be extended with daily global most rated, to keep content quality.
Browsing also could be improved (what is the key to skip 10 secs forward in the video?)
Ah and you should offer me the showtime serials subscription for 50$ per year and stream them in my channel as soon they are aired (you got it, didn't you? ;)

Everything YouTube does (or GOOGLE does) to try to improve the site. Just makes it even worse. YouTube, please stop with the improvments, and bring back the old layout/channel pages, etc. THAT would be the BIGGEST improvement EVER.

It wouldn't bother me so much if it would keep out of the way and I could open it up when I want it but it's the fact that it glues itself to my computer monitor that really annoys me. I hate anything on any website that glues itself to your monitor and follows you around the page when you scroll.

I actually wouldn't mind that. I just tried it out and the video actually goes FULLSCREEN. For example if you have your laptop or PC connected to your flatscreen instead of just showing the black bars the thing actually takes up THE WHOLE SCREEN.

holy crap! The bar popped up and guess what?? it did NOT annoy me! why? well that's because it seems that A: the default setting is now "OFF," or B: it remembered the setting of "OFF" that I kept setting. It seems not many if any other people are commenting on this but, thanks youtube, now the lean back bar can be seen for its usefulness.
