  • I saw that all of the hornets were the two-seat variant of the E/F's. Are these the E/A-18s?

  • @swoodard4 Just a friendly FYI, the F is the two seater, the E is the single. And if I remember correctly the E/A-18G has pods on the wings, so this is an F squadron.

  • @Scoggs117 Ah, ok. Thanks. That would make sense.

  • There not the mighty Tomcat ,but i guess i can learn to love them. There getting up thier in the years too.Does anyone know what's comming next?

  • The folks in VFA-103 , how often do they hear pirate jokes sent their way? [For that matter, how often do any sailors hear said jokes?]

  • What music is it? =)

  • low vis for normal operations hi-vis for the commanding officer and show birds

  • although i'm an air force guy, VFA-103 and the F-18F are beast.

why is it that some are painted with black and yellow and some

    are only gray?

  • @Eirik36 because the ones that are painted back and yellow are the leaders

  • @Eirik36 yeah the ones painted black and yellow are the CO and the XO i believe...the squad leaders

  • @Eirik36 They were even better with the F-14B....

  • @FutureMarine1775USA idk man, i never was a huge f-14 guy (maybe b/c i lived on an F-15C/E air force base for most of my childhood). But i do like the black and yellow F-18Fs

  • at least they gave the jollys the super hornet and kept them a 2 man crew.since they had to give up their tomcats.they should have been the only sqaudron to keep their cats and kick ass against all these assclowns f-14 long live vf-84-103.

  • oh yeh it is super hornet which is two seated, here in most of the hornets (55) are single seated, and the rest are two seated (62 total hornets). cant wait to join the air force

  • jolly roger till i die VF-84 and VF-103

  • Hmm, someone please tell me why they al are two seated? Is it because of ex tomcat pilots who got used to 2 seat, and the navigator or whateva is sitting in the back.

  • @Kukkonaama well i think its because all the f-14 REO officers (back seat guys) were already trained to do that job plus with the rear seater watching radar/electronics/countermeasures the pilot can concentrate more on flying and killing the bad guys.

  • this is the super hornet which is a 2 seater so ya pilot and reo, navagator.

  • no its just that the jolly rogers are the bad ass sqaudron vfa-103

  • @hoss44467xh I know, but doesnt beat FaF guys soz

  • at 2:27 there is a plane with a High viability color scheme, i dont see any others with this paint scheme is it the squadron leaders plane?

  • ya thats the cags bird.

  • yes its the cags bird sqaudron commander

  • Can someone please tell me the song here

  • Wonderful day for the families and the aircrews. Remember that most of the squadron had to ride the ship into port the next day.

This same squadron is back at sea now in the IO flying support for the ground action. The cruise is going well for all and everyone is looking forward to the homecoming day at the end of this cruise.

  • filipino naval navigator in the squadron!!!!!

  • If Grumman was given the chance to introduce the ST-21 the Horny could eat the dust in the desert instead.

Thanks to "mastermind" D.C. the Cat was killed and the Super-duper-Bug was chosen .

BTW. The Tomcat B&Ds mad the life of the Bug very hard so good for the Hornet that the Cats is gone.

    TOMCATS 4 EVER!

  • I hear yeah man! I am a Tomcat guy myself.......just didnt get the camera in time to prove it. But The tomcat spends way to much time on the ground after flights. Super Bug has the upper hand on that and its a New airframe. Tomcat really didnt stand a chance against it. I still think the navy should have kept the F-14 as a specific intercept bomber.

  • @ktm511 If I recall correctly, the F-14B and D both had less maintinance issues. Still is alot more work than a Super bug though.

  • 18s are more maunuverable and they also look better and more realiable

  • But it's not the same without the F-14's :(

  • Another Tomcat fanboy.......................the Tomcat wasn't that great of a plane. If you think about it, BVR missiles took over the Tomcats interceptor role. The Super Hornet is what WE need right now and in the future too.

  • So what if I´m a Tomcat fanboy.

For its time, it was the best the Navy could offer, and to think it could defeat recent generation planes, is almost unheard of.

Super Hornet looks dull anyway! :P

  • Give it a few more years and you'll probably be a Super Hornet fan boy. At 1:04 the super hornet looks amazing. But I do agree the Tomcat looks better than the Super Hornet cause it's got nice curves;) I was a Tomcat fan boy too, fav squadron was VF-31 Tomcatters. Can you believe it they have VFA-31 Tomcatters on the Super Hornets, I don't even know how that's comprehensible.

  • this is a homecoming video, can we please keep those F-14 vs Super bug comments for another video?

  • Still could have kept it for Air to Ground.

  • I'm a airmen and I'll be going to these guys as my first duty station out of a school. I'm excited th work on these aircraft. AM.

  • well Im over there every once in a while so ya might see me and not even know it. lol Those guys are great!

  • Great Job Rob (as you can probably tell I am a fan of VFA-103 Jolly Rogers)

  • Pretty cool Rob!

It was an awesome day that's for sure!

    -Brad

  • Well done my friend!

  • God bless 'em!

    Job well done!
