The song seems to be about a couple who no longer like each other, but instead of just breaking up they hurt each other until the finally break up at the end. And the video looks at it at a different angle, the elderly trying to hang onto a style and lifestyle of their youth.

I think the idea of this video was to disappoint the viewer, with the piano falling on the hopeless dog at the end. He connects us to the lyrics. I mean, the song is called "turn on me," so I think that was their whole idea of this offsetting video. They wanted us to feel slightly betrayed just like he made the female character feel.
