@Th33MediaINC I uploaded the first episodes of Casshern, Tekkaman and Polymar (in Italian) several years ago, but got nailed with copyright notices for two of those three (from Media Blasters, who up until now has only dabbled in "Tekkaman Blade"), then I deleted the remaining one. Yup, copyright reasons, and the fiact that no English subs or dubs (except for the infamous, incomplete '80's Tekkaman dub) exist for these shows.
I saw some episodes in the 80s. The show was my first "real" lesson that every mom dies eventually. I remembered hugging my momma and never wanted to watch Casshern again. Ah, well. Thumbs-up anyway.
@norc24601 Actually, in the end she lives and lives like a human; no explanation is given about how her body was completely vanquished/destroyed and could be easily turned back, while her son had to keep up being a shinzoningen/neo-roider...
@sygo7g Casshern(1973) was never aired in USA? That's sad. G-Force(Gatchaman) was, right? Casshern was considered too tragic or serious, maybe? There must be so many good anime of 70's that Americans missed. I have no idea why all those trash anime made into their ways instead. Glad that you found Casshern.
Translation of songs: "My outlook hasn't changed, but my bare arms smash iron. Dreams and hopes were left behind for yesterday, and I only live to battle. I, I am the new humanoid Casshern." The marching of Android Forces reminded us Nazi soldiers...
@sygo7g There is more to it. Casshern's mom kept in the swan robot captive to the Hitler guy created enormous sorrow and tension to us viewing kids. I was really, really worried over her safety every time she appeared. Although being invincible, we knew Casshern's inability to be with his mom was a great pain to him. We felt it with him. His mom's determination to help his son win the war and save people in such unbelievable situations all moved us kids. Great work, indeed.
@yumeshimanet Yes, but the jaw and the bald head are the same! and remember that Hitler was inspired by the the way of act of fascists and his SA were inspired by blackshirts
@GetitUnderCool I'm pretty aware of it, as here in Italy there's still lot of people seeing that as a proud achievement, sigh...
Even so, Mussolini was a mock dictator lacking by a long shot the absolute and obsessive commitment of uncle Adolf; still he gained the power here, no wonder now we got his shameless epygone berlusconi... Oh and also Mussolini's grandchildren and former topless "actress", of course...
@sygo7g Then you have all the fans of the movie and Sins who say that both are grand pieces of art only because they have small exposure to what's out there. Sure dark and gritty is cool. When its realistic. Like the casshern movie would have been much better if you took all the Casshern references out and made it about a family who's son has gone off to war just to spite the father, the son dies and the husband and wife's relationship falls apart.
@sygo7g Especially when they base one story on the concept of the title "Neo-Human Casshern" like making Casshern a robot with sperm and there fore he's immortal symbolizing the power of genetics. Yeah Casshern doesn't need THAT to be compelling I want to see him run on those spike gauntlets some more and more epic super squats and punch explosions.
@sygo7g this is especially disappointing because the Casshern alternatives are crap that want to talk down to the audience or just make them stupid via retardation seriously when you have casshern's sperm be a plot point something has gone south.
@sygo7g Actually it wasn't so much for drama but rather plot convenience. This way Casshern could find out about the Black King Boss' plans. A lot of the drama in Casshern came from the people who are being attacked by the robots. And when Luna was introduced her father was killed so the robots could get an experimental weapon.
@formertofu It wasn't a plot convenience. Casshern's mom was the MAIN thing for some kids and she became a legend afterwards. Her type is seen throughout 70's anime, but I believe she's indeed the pioneer. Beautiful, sacrificial female-figures with sad memories or sad situations. Thanks to all good mothers.
@Hesuku Well from what I could tell, it seemed like she was a plot convenience. I can't speak japanese so what I know of this series is the basics things conveyed through action and what I can find online.
The Casshern's mother isn't dead...the swan contains only the transferred mind of the mother.....at the end of the serie, the mother returns in her body! :) ..great anime!!!
PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT! *bursts into hysterical laughter* Oh God, that's the best comment ever! And yet it makes so much sense in a way! Jeez, those two look so alike it's ridiculous.
@dansquatch : THANK YOU!! finally someone says it. I'm sick of everyone sayin Astro Boy inspired Megaman it so didn't this show did. But hey when did you think this show was from if you didn't think it was from '73?
@mortaldoz the first Mega Man game was actually made 14 years after Casshan. Casshan was one of the main inspirations for Mega Man, especially the X series (Braiking Boss = Sigma). Makes sense since the staff at Capcom are Tatsunoko fans ^^
somone knows where can i donwload that anime??? i can`t see cashernn sins without seeing this serie first... in the torrent finder i cant find the old anime... haven`t try ares tough... but i doubt i find it there... so if anybody knows please let me konw
'm actually kind of surprised that nobody has uploaded the series onto youtube, then again, copyright reasons...

The duck is a robot that has a built in AI containing the memories of Casshern's dead mother.
So his mom is a robot swan. :)
