yeah, i know how you feel; my older brother has autism, his speech is good but he finds it very hard to socialise, it hurts seeing him walk about on his own all the time

and sometimes he will talk constantly but in others he will keep to himself, not coming out of his room for hours

Cried. My brother has Autism as well, and he's going through the troublesome years of puberty in the mean time as well. It's taken such a huge toll on our family, but he's amazingly creative. He escapes into his own little world through LEGO and making videos. He often talks about being different from everyone.

I just cry sometimes, cause life would be so much different if he wasn't autistic, but he's still an amazing fourteen year old.

@Pianofreak161 It's definately hard, and I sure get the teen thing. Jared's going to be 17 in January. It's great that your brother has so much languag though! :D Jared can't really tell us how he's feeling most of the time, not in words anyway. Yeah, I cry too :( I think we all do. But no matter how hard it is for us, it's harder for them ,that's for sure. And no problem, I'm glad I did too lol :)

A year later, this film still gives me chills. What a wonderful piece about a wonderful person - and you executed it simply and beautifully. I love the softened edges and the music you used. This has actually inspired me to finally make a short documentary, or maybe just a shorter video like this, of my brother with Down's Syndrome (I posted a year ago as Geenra!) but now I'm worried I'd be copying off you too much because I love this video....it's so inspiring!

My brother has Autism as well. Though I wish i could have such a loving video of him...he kind of hates me because I'm the only person in the house who wants him to eat something besides McDonalds and Pizza.

He's told me to my face (even when I'm trying to be nice, usually i ignore him because he sits and watches TV all day) that he hates me and wants me to dissapear.

My younger nephew has this too. (He's 13.) I'm not sure how it is to live with someone with Autism, but even when I'm with my nephew it can sometimes be hard. =/ I see him a lot, but not everyday..

It's incredibly hard, to put it lightly. There are lots of good days, but when the bad ones come its...well, bad lol. I hope your nephew's doing well :) I sometimes forget how widespread Autism is, but its nice to know we're not alone.

My brother was diagnosed with Autism when he was two... it's always been hard for our family when he's growing up. He's sixteen now, and I can barely relax whenever I'm in the same room as him... he isn't as creative or as peaceful as your brother seems to be and he can really let his emotions take control of him... He's screaming downstairs even as we speak...

I don't know why I'm posting this here, I shouldn't bother you with my problems. But it was a brilliant video... enough said about it

Don't worry, it's not all rainbows and sunshine on our end either, believe me. But often he's happy and fun, so that's what I focus on during the not so good days :) I wish your family the best of luck with your brother. I know just how hard it can be :) Hey, you're not bothering me. Its good to know there's others out there like Jared and like us :) Being a sibling of a child with autism can be really challenging.

He is only 5 years old, and he was diagnosed when he was 2.. he's not as bad off as most children with it. Yet, he still has his kinks..my mother and i wonder what he will be like as he gets older..and seeing your brother, and how well he does things and how active he is..is very beautiful..

Aw, this is such a touching video Shade! He really does look like you and i gotta honestly say, i had a teary eyed while watching this coz he reminds me of my brother. It's not related to Autism but he was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy since he was born and i know it's too personal for me to say it here but he passed away and this video makes me think of him with our good memories =')

Aww! Your brother is awesome! I have a brother who is now 20 years old, and he was born with 5 deffects to his heart, but he is a merical because 2 of the effects would have killed him if the other 3 had not been there! He had open heart when he was 2, and a pace-maker put in when he was 16. He is now 20 and has been on a heart-transplant list for the past 3 years! He is such an inspiration to me through it all because he always wears a smile, and he is the best brother anyone could ask for! :D

I have a 14yr old brother with autism and he loves the internet, weather, reading the bible, and has this weird fasionation with african americans. I always get so worried when we go out in puplic with him cause I'm afraid hes going to offend someone cause they don't understand why hes looking at them. But I try not to let it bother me too much cause they aren't worth it. Hes going into highschool in a week and I'm so worried!
