  • They ask waaaaaay to much money for these new!!!!

  • awesome, it sounds just like my 1-CR!!!

  • the new one is just plane out awsome it gets alot of stuff like about a dog hair cake yum

  • we have a kirby legend 2 vacuum cleaner and a dyson DC14 and the kirby is amazing wen u go over after the dyson we was looky we got our kirby off of ebay for just over 70 pounds it wasnt very clean and now it looks good as new . If u hant got a mirror use ur vacuum lol

  • I have a kirby, and it's the best one we have ever had.

  • My grand parents have one of these. Very nice vacuum.

  • A relative had this very model I think abondoned outside once. I wanted to take it home, but I wasn't allowed. That was a long time ago when I was younger.

  • When it came to the Kirby, we were familiar with the 3rd generation. That vacuum was so awesome!

  • me 2

  • Kirbys are the best vacs in the world..

  • @mroddy0862 Yes you got it right!!!

  • Do you have any Orecks?

  • worth every penny and dollars .. the best of the best .. quality ...

  • i hear from people that kirbys are realy good deep cleaners are they?

  • Yes, they are - an Electrolux Sanitaire will do pretty much the same job, though, and costs and weighs a fraction of what a Kirby does!

  • yes there not "cheap" lol

  • ...or 'inexpensive'!

    lol

  • lol :)

  • @landroverkid1 they are ubsurdly expensive new but you can buy a used one that is 15-20 years old for less than 20 bucks. a 20 year old kirby might need a little service but still has tons of life left. i have a 1981 heritage and its still runs great

  • @vintagehoover sanitaires vibrate the dirt out of the carpet using a vibragroomer 1 or vibragroomer 2 brushroll

  • @vintagehoover They also cost a fraction of what a Kirby does

  • yes they are the best for cleaning

  • @landroverkid1 Yes they are and I have one exact like the one in thsi video but its now down for repairs but it'll be good as new again!!

  • I have one but the power head dosent work

  • Why not? Have you checked the belt?

  • the problem was the belt holder that holds the belt up was to low but i got it fixed.

  • @vintagehoover they say the belt could like never brack

  • My legend ll is a 1991 as I can tell due to the many parts that are date stamped and I have seen this same model stamped 1988. These were both 240 volt versions, made for Australia. I agree with the member justkirbys the Ledgend ll was produced between 1988-1991

  • Hi,

    Great machine !

I think you will find that model was made from 1988 through till 1991.

  • So many 'Kirby experts', so many 'accurate production dates'!

I don't claim to know the first thing about them; show me a definite piece of evidence to back up your claim and I'll believe you! :)

  • I think you will find it wasn't. Jack, you're right with the dates for the L2. We got one second hand in 1992 and they were great machines. Here are the dates for Kirby during the 80's and into the early 90's:

    1981-84Heritage

    1984-89Heritage II Legend

    1989-90Legend II

    1990-93Generation 3

  • wheres the plain ol' heritage II?

  • That thing looks awesome!! I have a Kirby G4 1996.

  • hey do you still have it let me now do you want to sell it

  • Kirbys rule. They last a lifetime.

  • My Mom used to have one of those. When my sister used it she accidentally dropped it on her foot and about broke her foot. Whatever you do, don't drop that thing on your foot! Same with the metal Hoovers, those things look like they weigh about the same as a kirby.

  • I've just weighed one of my 'metal Hoovers', Model 725. It weighed 8kg - in other words, only 0.6kg more than a Dyson DC25 Ball.

Any cleaner will hurt if you drop it on your foot - in fact, I don't recommend dropping any appliance/object/fixture/fitting on your foot, I can't see it ending well.

  • Do you have the HEPA micrond magic bags in it? BTW it looks great (and keep that Tradition :D)...

  • Ive just bought my first Kirby legend II for £20 with everything and very pleased. But the casing is very tarnished and I spent quite a while cleaning it with silvo with some succsess but looks no way as in good condition as yours any tips?

  • Do you have an email address I could send a photo to? I'll show you what my Legend II looked like when I first got it!

  • Looks and sounds almost exactly like my upgraded Classic III. I used the Legend II outer bag, and the 3M HEPA type inner bags. I also put a Kevlar fan on it.

  • nice legend II! i think this one of kirby's best looking models, i have one that i bought at a swap meet for $35, man i wish i could post vids of my kirby collection!

  • My cousin has one exactly like this one.

The only difference is that the switch is at where the power head is and on the other side of the bag it has an extra long hose. They use that to clean their carpet. Wish you could tell me where to get a powerhead so that I can give it as a gift to my cousin.

  • call me at 936 756 3556 i run a 100% kirby only service center and have a few hoses to match your kirby

  • i just bought one of those at a flea market for $15 an i love it, but i have yet to clean it up, ill probably to that tonight

  • We have the exact same one in our garage!

  • What's it doing in your garage?! Get it out and use it, it's a great cleaner! :)

  • It does get used mate. It's been around longer than me and still works perfectly. Just don't have anywhere else to put it.

  • Hey there buddy, i too have a Legend 2 that i LOVE, and i noticed your model does not have the little green light on the power nozzle indicating that the brush is turning. I find that kinda odd that Kirby did not put them on the machines for Europe.

  • It does have thwe green light - look at the photo of it at the beginning, after the title. I guess it's just not bright enough to show up on the video!

  • Yes i see it now thanks man, one question, is this model a 220 volt, or do you have to use a power transformer to convert it from 110 to 220V? Cause it sounds identical to mine. How long has Kirby been in England, ya know this is gonna sound dumb but i never knew that Kirby was ever in Europe till a recent visit to my cousins home in Italy, and she had a Kirby Diamond edition.

  • It's 240v, all UK Kirby machines are made for the UK current. Export machines are made in the USA in a different factory to the US ones, I think. We have had Kirbys here since the mid-1970's...the first model we had over here was the Classic, I believe.

  • hey nice kirby come see my page i you want to why doesn't this model have tech drive?

  • Now, that's more like it. Strong sound & almost has that turbine sound of an old Mercedes fuel injection....Yeah!

  • wow, she's a beauty! and sounds good and healthy too! :D

  • one of the greatest vids i've seen in a while! keep it up champ!

  • Glad you like it - have you seen my others? I've got 47 vids in total, and I plan to do more this week sometime!

  • kirbys are the best , we had ours for over 25 yrs and still runs good ..

  • That sounds, looks, and cleans just like the Heritage II. Just that one is red. Kirbys are great cleaners. I'm a vacuum collator, but i waited 5 years to get a Kirby for a good price!

  • do u have the kirby tradtion model

  • No, at the moment, the only Kirbys I have are the 3 show in my videos: the Legend II, the G4 and the G5. The Legend II is currently for sale on eBay.

  • I grew up with this Vacuum. Used to scare the hell outa me as a kid but I grew to love it. Got rid of it in 2001ish as my mum couldn't carry it anymore.

  • It's a great cleaner! I'm a recent-ish convert to Kirby. I'm actually selling this machine on eBay at the moment, but I do have a G4 and a G5!

  • The Generation 3 came out in 1990, not '91.

  • Ah right - I read differently, but you're probably right. I guess it's possible back-stock of Legend IIs was still being sold in 1991, which might have mislead the info- source I used...too late to change the video now, anyway! Kirbys aren't my area of expertise!

  • love the legend vacuum
