It is tough to not compare him to MJ even when he says he is his own player. I mean that nostalgic feeling of thinking this guy was unstoppable was what I felt about MJ. No it was harder for Jordan to drive to the hoop because there was no defensive 3-sec rule. And Kobe didn't start receiving a whole lot of double and triple teams until after Shaq left. Most double and triple teamed person....still Jordan, but Kobe will likely surpass Jordan in that category.

That's why he was surrounded by guards everytime he went at least to the finals. 1: Penny Hardaway, 2: Kobe Bryant, 3: Dwayne Wade. O'Neal is one of the most dominant centers I agree, but Kobe was a big part in winning those 3 rings. (ex: Kobe in Game 7, 2000 western conference finals or Game 4 of 2000 finals when Shaq fouled out)

Magic got his Finals MVP in 87 and overall he has 2 more than Worthy. And their isn't that much else to compare when it comes to pure stats.
One thing I can compare about between Worthy and Mike is that both seem to save their best games for the playoffs and then the Finals.

It is tough to not compare him to MJ even when he says he is his own player. I mean that nostalgic feeling of thinking this guy was unstoppable was what I felt about MJ. Media never made MJ look like a god, the way he dominated games did. During the season and the 3 rounds of the play offs, Kobe looked so unblockable. He could have averaged 40 points if Phil Jackson kept him in the end of games that was already won. Seeing Celtics defend him... IDK if he was choking or the D was good...

Definetly nostalgic, and everyone is looking for the next MJ. Kobe was the only one they could and this is definetly not fair to Kobe, who has said, he's Kobe, and Mike's Mike. He wishes he could be like Mike and try and imitate all of Mike's moves (and who wouldn't want to do that)

Ahhh, but Shaq had just as many NBA MVP's as Kobe did with the Lakers and those 3 Finals MVP's. So one could make a serious case that Shaq was better than Kobe when they both were in a Laker uniform.
He passing Shaq in terms of producivity, but that's because Bryant is in his prime and Shaq's nearing the end of his career.

Shaq lead the Orlando Magic to the 1994 NBA Finals and won an NBA title with Dwayne Wade without Kobe Bryant.

Lamar Odom and Paul Gasol aren't good players? Granted they aren't superstars like D-Wade, but Kobe had some good players around him.
Shaq is one of the most dominant centers of all time and he's always had players around him (Penny in Orlando) (Kobe in LA) ) (Wade in Miami) and if he didn't have those players, he'd get the ball more and his PPG would go up even higher.

Nobody plays D in the Western Conference except the Spurs. Other top teams in the western conference (such as the Mavs, Suns, Nuggets) play 0 D and that's why they don't win championships like the Celts and Pistons and the Lakers when they had Shaq.
For the record, Shaq went to 2 NBA finals without Kobe, winning a ring with Miami. So it's Kobe can't win without Shaq.
Put Kobe against a defensive minded team (Pistons or Celtics, etc.), he gets shut down, unlike Jordan.

Shaq was the MVP when he led Kobe to the Lakers 3-peat. Jordan led his team to all 6 of their rings. Jordan didn't choke in the Finals like Kobe did on now 2 occasions.
Jordan was a better scorer and played 10X the defense Kobe did. Jordan was 9-10 time All-NBA defensive team and won defensive MVP. Kobe hasn't and only made 1st team about 4-5 times. Jordan was #2 all time NBA in steals.
And to think Jordan did this despite retiring twice.
