  • i also don't use shampoo anymore. shampoo is one of the biggest cons going. you just don't need it. my hair isn't greasy at all.

  • I find myself quite attracted to you and your natural hair; the natural look is a turn-on...yay I'm creepy

  • I should add if you do the straight no poo method (no shampoo OR conditioner) do not use products. They will not come out. You need to just let your hair be completely virgin haaha

Also I do believe the no poo method (more so the WO method) can suit anyone because you were born with hair that can take care of itself. Everyone not just dry haired, oily hair, curly, etc.

I recommend the no poo or WO method to anyone! Please try it out :)

  • Why is washing your hair once a week gross? I think one a month is the most you should wash it.

  • this vid was made about 4 yrs ago. are u still doing the no poo do? if so, how is it working out for u? i am very interested in going through with it.

  • You are very sweet (: This is a great video. I am going to try (although I am a guy, but who cares) thaaaank you :D

  • you're not ugly. You're quite cute :)

  • Thanks for the info :)

I have a little tip for you, maybe you could look more into the camera instead of looking at yourself in the mirror.. It feels like you're talking to someone else, which is kind of annoying.. ;)

  • can you subtitle it?

  • Thanks so much for sharing! You're so beautiful! :)

  • im on week one of no 'poo and was wondering, if i were to go to a salon for hair color, after my oil is regulating less, what would happen if my hairdresser were to wash my hair with shampoo and conditioner after coloring my hair? will my scalp start to produce a lot of oil again?

  • fit as ...

  • You shouldn't get hot water anywhere near your hair, as you said. It dries it out and will damage your ends, other than that great video!

  • You should look up the good and bad alcohol that is in the hair products

  • Did you know that grapeseed oil is a natural heat protectant.. and it also ads shine and conditions your hair!

  • You're really cute.

  • Random but I just realized in this video your voice reminds me a lot of Christina Ricci's voice. Hope that doesn't sound weird, it's a compliment ;p

  • I use urine and lemon juice and whiskey. No not for washing my hair, for drinking.

  • i prefer not to use poo in my hair it: puts off the women.

    feces is sooooooooooo yesterday!

  • FYI, Lush is not all natural and all organic. They use SLS in quite a few of their products.

  • Good video :) Is there a difference between using white vinegar or apple cider vinegar?

  • @shinyadono I believe there is! I couldn't tell you off the top of my head the scientific difference between the two on the hair but I'm quite certain when using the No Poo method Apple Cider Vinegar is the vinegar to use for the rinse.

  • @Cidolem both are safe to use from everything ive found out, it's just the tone it brings out in your hair. ACV= red tints, White Vineger= lighter tints such as blonde

  • @shinyadono apple cider vinegar is useful for balancing the sweetness in apple tarts while keeping the fruity goodness.

  • @shinyadono yes there is if you use white vinger use less of it because its acidic and stuff if you use to much white viniger you could damage your hair more. i know i learned the hard way hope this helps

  • So, do you still style as normal and use the same products? I'm starting to wonder about using different, kinder hair styling products too. :) I have very fine curly hair btw which dries out easily and my ends break. I also lose a lot of hair when washing and maybe shampoo is the culprit?

  • @Shenkyra I actually don't but I'm going to have a reply video to this and it's an updated hair care video I did just the other day. I lose tons of hair when i shower too, I believe that's just normal. Do you brush your hair everyday? I hardly ever brush my hair, just comb it out with a wide toothed comb when I condition my hair about twice a week or so and a lot comes out because all the hair that naturally falls out daily gets kinda "stuck" in the curls and thus when I wash it and comb it i

  • @Cidolem Yeah I heard it's normal, but others have said they lose less hair on the no poo method so I just wondered :) I do brush my hair every day, normally with a wide tooth comb or vent brush because my hair breaks easily due to it being so fine, so fine tooth combs are not my friend. I also comb through gently when I condition which is every other day (currently that's also how often I shampoo my hair, but I'm going to just rinse and condition instead from now on)

  • I hope you wash your beatiful hair in forward manner

  • what the hell are u wearing?

  • wow, this was a lot of good info, and I thought I knew a lot.

  • your lucky for having dry hair. i have greasy hair and i have to wash it so often

  • Great vid! I don't wash my hair so much anymore either, as I am mixed race (Caribbean and White British) and have VERY curly hair, which does get VERY dry!! I cannot bare the No Poo method, just because I am definately a hygeine freak, but I find Curly Wurly from Lush stores is AMAZING for curly hair. Really moisturising, I would recommend it for anyone with dry hair, curly or straight! X x x x

  • Great advice, Im a guy and Ive got a shaved head but I shave coz wen its long is damaged, too muc washng or what ever. Recently I heard about a study into what is thbest product to shave with, shaving foam makes the hairs softer so its easier to shave but it turns out water softens the hair more than shaving foam. The whole thing is a con, there must be loads of stuff like that. I think you should look into other kinds of products which are scams, then tell me so I dont have to. Thanks 4 posting

  • WOW you are sooooo gorgeous! Can we change faces? :D plz don't listen to those stupid people who are jealous of you!

  • ugly bitch

  • @zokopi The only ugly person here is you -rat faced fucker...

  • I went no poo 2 months ago and my hair is softer and shinier than it ever was with shampoo and conditioner.

  • @socatto yeah I get that a lot :/

You're super pretty though and I like your photography :]

  • @Cidolem You're not a super model, if that is what ''socatto'' meant to say, but you are beautiful!

  • @Cidolem You're not ugly! You're very pretty! Ignore this total douche bag, they know nothing.

  • @Cidolem

I think you're quite pretty actually. Not that I'm coming on to you over the internet... or ocean; I just didn't think it was particularly fair of some randomer to call you ugly so just thought I'd stabilise out the karmic balance of the world or some bullshit. Peace out!

  • Comment removed

  • @socatto you're a moron!

  • Comment removed

  • @socatto no, you are ugly. cidolem is lovely. fuck off.

  • @socatto Don't be such a moron. Who are you to judge anyone in that matter anyway? Cidolem is gorgeous. :)

  • @socatto Cidolem is pretty...You on the other hand look like a fucking zombie...

  • I'm giving this a try. Very useful info.

But please do me one tiny favor and quit saying "EKspecially."

  • i'm jealous that red stayed in your hair, i stopped bothering trying to be a ginge because it just faded to brown after a couple weeks every time

  • i use wen cleanising conditioner omg its the best I agree with no shampoo :) Great video!

  • informative, thanks

  • I have never tried going with out shampoo or anything but my hair got really damaged due to some highlighting this summer and I covered it up with dye. I went to the salon and got some organic shampoo called "Pureology" it is a highly concentrated shampoo and condition and you just use a small drop...so far I love it. It doesn't have a ton of chemicals like some of the others that try to smooth your hair. I liked it pretty well....i would like to try that jugle shampoo you spoke of.

  • im FULL puerto rican

    with extreme curls

and i DONT have ethnic hair

sooo your background isnt to blame lol

  • @nena6506 Well, true my hair has become more dry and damaged due to dying it and using a flat iron but quite often one's hair is defined by their ethnicity :]

  • you said it, OFTEN

    try a placenta hair treatment

    should help :)

  • im sorry i just have to recomment lol

being puerto rican has nothing to do with your dry hair

if youre insinuating a stereotypical comment

you probably have someone jaba in youre family?...

    light skinned, black people hair

but even then, look at will smith kids

    lovely locks

    ;)

    thats all

  • @nena6506 I'm sorry you're so passionate about a video made on youtube about hair that you had to take your time to come back and comment. But I don't have e-fights so happy holidays and you're more than welcome to your opinions. :]

  • @Cidolem

Great comment. You must be a very happy and peaceful person. Good stuff, very inspiring. Thumbs up.

  • @nena6506 ????? are you mental? Or are you a racial- hair quality expert? Dont say well actually Im puerto rican so I should know coz she could say the same thing Im half puerto rican so I should know. Maybe the specific mixture of race can have that effect.

  • @nena6506 what exactly is "FULL puerto rican"? Puerto Rico's heritage and ethnic history is a varied mix European, African, Indigenous heritage... People with such a varied heritage have varied hair textures that reflect that, including 'ethnic' hair. You act like it's an insult to associate Puerto Rican heritage with 'ethnic' qualities.

  • When I started this method a few weeks ago I was very skeptical, but it turned out to work really good! :D My hair is still very dry and damaged (I cut mine off too... miss it) but it's really going in the right direction!! :D

  • your well pretty =]

  • I love your Lace Top, Where did you buy it from?

  • Hey! I got it several years ago at Wet Seal.

  • @klarmer Yeah I use to wear way too much foundation back then over a year ago. Thanks for the comment! :p

  • you should def cut back on iron use, im PR too 2 yrs ago i had really damaged hair i cut out my flat iron use and took care of it by just blowdrying and only dying it 2 times a yr to boost my natural color, its grown so much since then, i just blow dry it at night, with a blowdryer that has ions for shine and silk (conair infiniti white one w/ diffuser) a diffuser makes your natural hair less "flyawayish" plus a difuser is not as direct on your hair :) an ionc blowdryer works wonders youll see

  • I've been alternating between rubbing spa-clay into my scalp (letting it dry and then BRUSHING it out with a boar-bristle brush)...waiting a week, and then just using Ivory bar soap to wash followed by a dime-size drop of olive oil after towel drying. Conditioner *only* is awful. Conditioner has just as many chemicals, and it looks gummy. No one wants to run their hand through hair like that. What is this? 1986?

  • This video is over a year old. I obviously don't use this method anymore and switched over to Lush's solid shampoo's and conditioners.

  • .... its worth taking a look at the ingredients in Lush's shampoos and conditioners.. they arn't as natural as you would expect.

  • That's true but they have no more "chemicals" than most shampoos and conditioners that are on the market and I fully support lush for their vegan items as well as their wonderful work in being environmentally sound

  • I think I shall join you. I'm just going to do apple cider vinegar rinse. It's been good to me so far. And I will do bentonite clay to clarify once a month.

I don't want to buy LUSH. I don't know if its worth anything to use shampoos since I am eliminating all petro- materials from my regimine.

  • OMG i went thru the same a few months back omg what is up with that all of a sudden i went thru the dye your hair madness. I love my natural hair and i regret dyeing it soooooo bad so now im going all natural and im trying the no poo method today is my 1st day :D your hair is beautiful :D Ive also been making my own hair spray and ive been using rosemary tea in my hair :D it gives it a bit of body and it makes it soft :D

  • I have a lot of respect for you being vegan. :) I've been a vegetarian myself for almost 3 years now.

I'm definitely going to try this method as soon as I use up my remaining hair products. I think it's a great natural, more healthier alternative.

  • Aw thank you! It isn't always easy. Good luck with this method! I did eventually switch over to just using all of Lush's vegan organic products for my hair (and face too) but I'd love to hear how it turns out for you, I know it's worked well on so many people

  • You can buy organic natural shampoos which don't strip the oils out of your hair and don't contain Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfates, parabens or any other crap chemicals. I use a brand called Jason and it's all derived from plants, herbs and doesn't wreck your hair like normal shampoo or leave your hair and scalp dry and itchy with no oils.

  • I don't use the nopoo method but when I dont use shampoo I use justnatural vinegar rinse... It isnt only vinegar so it smells actually good and you can't smell it even if you leave it in. try it in a search engine if you like

  • LOLew, I don't know if I'm going to be rinsing my hair in apple cider vinegar. It seems like that would be... kind of bad. Like, I put that shit on a wart and it burnt it right off along with some of my skin. But I wash my hair 2/3 times a week like you say, and I use natural shampoo and so far it seems all good. (almost done with a big bottle, and I have short short hair.)

I didn't actually know about he over-production of oil. I wondered how people in the past went ages without washing, LOL.

  • Haha I've never done the apple cider vinegar myself but I hear it's great for the hair! The only thing that would concern me is the smell of it but I've heard it's great for getting rid of buildup.

That's great that you don't wash your hair everyday! So many people do and really damage and dry out their hair that way.

  • it's not good to flat iron your hair because your still causing it dryness & heat damage and u can permanently damage or "loosen" your curls

  • You should embrace your curly hair.

I'm a little confused as to why you made a big deal out of using a hair dryer when you turn around and use a flat iron.. Why not use a ceramic hair dryer and not the flat iron? That way you can straighten your hair when you want without compressing it with heat and you can boost your curls by drying it with a diffuser. Either way, using heat is going to damage your hair. That's why I say embrace your curls. The more natural you go, the healthier it will be.

  • blow dryer is actually worse :)

  • I used a bar of soap and an egg to wash my hair today turned out pretty well but i smell like an omelette lol

  • hmm..is your nail polish and make up chemical free?

  • I do my best to use natural, organic mineral makeup as well as vegan products (gotta love Lush) but it's mostly my hair that suffers from using chemicals since it's more sensitive than my skin, ect.

  • When I was like a preeteen, my friend introduced me to washing hair with a bar of ivory soap and then rinsing it and then soaking it in vinegar. I thought she was crazy. did you ever hear of that? Sure did make hair soft though..you do KNOW what you are talking about, salons try to aesthetically please you but those products are not always good for the hair.

  • Aaaaactually, thecoonofdoom, red hair might seem to come out the fastest, but once you have red in your hair, no matter how many times you dye it after that, it seems to have a slightly reddish tint to it. I think that's what cidolem was talking about.

  • Yup, that was indeed what I meant. :]

  • red is actraully the fastest to come out

  • God, a biography on your hair sounded so exhilarating that I immediately, after 30 seconds, decided to permanently pause your video.

  • Glad I could amuse you ;]

  • You made this a memorable experience

  • you don't have to listen to it you know..some girls like this kind of stuff, like me! I would do a video just like her if I had the nerve

  • baking soda it not good for your hair people it you got a lot of juck in it that what you use to take it out dont use it ever time it dry the hair out this go get some wen or hair one wen is like $35 and hair one is the same thing it at sally"s for $10

  • Finally someone said it! It's NOT GOOD to wash your hair every day! And it's OKAY only to do it 1-2 times a week. People are such hygiene freaks.

  • чeah, thats okaч for some people.. but i have reallч thin hair .. and im constantlч puffing it up with mч hands and running mч fingers thru mч fringe.. and if i dont wash it everч morning it gets REALLY greasч!

  • Yes I am one suck freak like you say.I AM the typical hygiene freak myself but with all respect I have SUPER Oily hair and therefore, I do NOT think washing everyday is bad since I use gentle and sometimes sufate free shampoo..I don't wash it EVERY DAY of my life but about 5-7 on average so def known for washing consecutive days..but do see where she is going but keep in mind her hair type is complete opposite to mine (I feel I need to wash my hair all the time!)

  • i love your hair color, may i ask, if it is your natural colour or dyed? professionally done or bottled? if so what brand and colour? lol, sorry, i just love it.

  • Aw thanks so much! And it's no issue. I naturally have light ash brown hair and I dyed over it (as I often do/did) with Revlon's Dark Brown and it came out dark at fist but it washes out over time so after two weeks or so it faded to this nice brown. ^^;

  • and do not worry, sometimes blow dryers are worse if you dont know how to use them. I would seriously OVER dry the hair bc I did not know how to style and damaged it bad, now, I do it just to get it dry and the flat iron, will be passed through, no fuss and out the door. Blow dryers are bad if you use them wrong and require constant touch ups bc it does not style easily and consequently results in damage. Irons are TECHNICALLY more damaging to your hair though

  • i love ur shirt were did u buy it?

  • Thank you! I got it ages ago from Forever 21

  • OMG! you are the first person that i've seen that has mentioned the zero frizz! I USE THIS EVERY TIME I GET OUT OF THE SHOWER! I've used it for about 3 years now and absolutely love it! it works wonders for my thick curly coarse hair. and most of the time i don't even use heat spray because it is a little too much product! anyway awesome for mentioning zero frizz! i recommend it to everyone!

  • i was actually about to comment on how cute your hair looks in this video! well i basically did didn't i!?

  • Thanks, this was really useful.

  • Over 7 minutes talking non - stop about hair: you're a real woman;)

  • they say an egg yolk is really good

  • you may want to try 100% Pure Castile Soap. I get mine from Trader Joe's. It is made entirely of natural products (oils) and one natural ingredient that makes it lather. I really love it and it doesn't dry my hair out (i have really curly hair too).

  • I'll have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion :]

  • You look better with straight or light curled hair. Please keep it up...

  • silicone helps your hair appear less frizzy so as long as u use a clarifying shampoo once a week that is not filled with drying chemicals it's really not that bad of a thing it comes down to reading the ingredients and understanding them. If you don't want to shampoo your hair and can get away with it thats great I just don't feel clean i was in the hospital for months and couldnt wash my hair and it got extremely oily now I'm at a healthy balance I use organic shampoo and conditioners.

  • Well the thing with silicone is that it covers the damage and makes your hair look healthier without actually healing any part of your hair. I have heard mixed things about -cones but for the most part I choose to stay away from them. Yeah, the no-poo method is definitely not for everyone but I'm glad you found a method that works for you. :]

  • great info

  • Thanks! Glad I could help :]

  • i actually was wondering- what do you do for your scalp? is it ever dry???

  • Well a lot of no poo users with dry scalps tend to skip the baking soda step all together as that makes their hair even dryer, as well as their scalp. However, if you dilute it and use it only once every two weeks (and instead just use the vinegar rinse or as I intend to do it a natural conditioner from lush) it tends to just remove buildup and eliminate any order that may be lingering in the hair.

  • there r shampoos that r all natural and will not dry ur hair or scalp, just clean it.

  • Thanks so much for the information! I soo know what you mean about the Red Hair Dye..i had mine red for about 9 months and now that I have decided to change it back to darker, I am having such a hard time getting rid of the red. Its like the color will not hold onto the hair. I am definately going to check into the no-poo method, my hair is kinda in need of something after months of dye, heat, and styling products!

  • You're welcome! Oh man, that red does not leave! Even when I dyed my hair black over the red the red was still there. Let me know how it goes! I really think the no-poo method does improve damaged hair. :]

  • I wish I had curly hair, I look so boring and dull with straight hair ~_~ Ahhh I love that top!!! :) Yeah I don't wash my hair daily (I shower, but with caps)
