@emac2299 Still cannot kick it out recovery mode, TinyUmbrella doesn't work when I press 'Exit Recovery'. My iPhone cannot even restore normally by changing baseband, it always brings up errors as 3194 and 1604. I already checked on the internet how to solve these problems, and when I solve one the other comes back up. Please help, cannot use my iPhone at all. Thanks in advance.

Now you are in recovery mode. Either use 'TinyUmbrella' to get out of recovery mode. It easy. If you don't know how to you can search for this in google. Or put iPhone in DFu mode right now. Then do shift + restore and load iOS 5.0.1 (not 5.0). It will go through. Try using a different computer if nothing works.

@emac2299 I managed to put the phone in recovery mode (where the USB and iTunes logo shows on the screen) and that's all, couldn't manage to turn it on.

@timmyo26 Unplug your device. Hold home & power buttons together for 15 seconds exactly. Wait for reboot. If I turns normal then follow the video again. Reboot your PC. Now make sure to put iPhone in correct Pwned DFU mode. Then hold shift+ restore button and upload custom iOS 5.0.1 (Not 5.0). You will get it this time.

Also a little tip make sure to use latest iTunes and make sure you don't have Cydia server in your 'hosts' file. You can search on google about this 'how to remove Cydia server'

@emac2299 Hi, I followed your tutorial until the point where the Iphone starts restoring into 5.0.1 version without baseband and after waiting only 2 minutes, the restoring process stops and a message ''Unknown Error (10)'' pops up. I have followed each earlier step accuratly and cannot find the problem. My Iphone is of version 4.0.2 and on baseband 01.59.00, it is currently stuck on the restoring screen and I have no idea how to turn it back on. Any suggestions or solutions? Thanks in advance.

@JAYJAY1787 Yes you can load it till Apple is signing SHSH but you will not be able to to Unlock since you updated once to Official/Stock 5.0.1 firmware. Now whatever changes you do to your firmware, your baseband will not be changed. And thats what you need to Unlock.

@AlexOnHisgrindd Plz make sure that you are updating to 5.0.1 (not 5.0) Also make sure to remove Cydia Server from your 'Hosts' file on your computer. And the last thing is Pwned DFU mode. You must be in this . And if nothing works then try on a different computer. You will get it.

2. Now, open the hosts file with Notepad. You need to have Administrator Privileges to edit this file so make sure you open Notepad with Administrator Privileges by right-clicking Notepad and select Run as Administrator.

3. At the bottom of the hosts file, one line below the last text, type in this; #74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com

@dangkhoi12345 once Baseband changes by upgrading , it can never be changed even if you downgrade a firmware. It can only change when Apple just comes out with a new version and it is signing the shsh blobs. Apple usually stops signing shsh blobs in 2-3 days (sometimes more) of any new Publicly released iOS version.

@sfochezzy we can never upgrade an iDevice without loosing Jailbreak. You can backup your data through iTunes and jailbroken stuff through 'pkage backup' available in Cydia. Then Update to iOS 5.0. But undrerstand this that at 5.0 your device jailbreak will be Tethered as explained in the video.

@rafayghani1 2 days ago Apple stoped signing firmware 4.3.5 ( which is the only one firmware to be downgraded once you update to 5.0 wihout preserving the baseband ) i've got the same problem last week but i solved it . I guess you should wait til the DEV-Team release new ways to solve that problem .

But you will not be able to use a Gevey sim now since you have officially updated to Stock iOS 5.0 which has changed your baseband to 04.11.08. There is no unlock for this yet.
