@DomDadJ Well in all fairness Karate does things for you that boxing wont, it teaches you about muscle groupings you weren't aware could be used for power, also gives you a very distinct feel of where the power comes from. Most boxers lack this discipline, case and point, look at their builds, boxers tend to be heavier in the shoulders and from what I have seen in Karate builds they tend to form a fairly solid wall toward the center of gravity and their stomachs.
In the chinese movie, we always see that every boxers in chinese movie always be beaten by Chinese experts.....for my own opinion, I think boxing is very fast with hands strike, and It's very hard to catch a boxer's hand to land a take-down, because every boxers will land an uppercut rightafter landing a hook or jab......so, catching a boxer hand and throw him ( in Chinese movies, and karate movies) is impossible in real life!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a martial artist for 8 years I want to say that BOXING is absolutely a very all around martial art, and very useful in real life situations. Karate kicks are to hard to do when you wear jeans. BJJ is not pleasant if you are on concrete ground. Boxing works is a good self-defense system.

I don't see how you guys can say MMA is fake. The only way you could fake the sport is when it goes to the judges, but you have to think the judges in MMA have no idea what they're watching. Almost every judge has had no combat sport experience. But when there is a KO thats all real, if you a KO in MMA can be faked then there is the same possibility in boxing. to tell people the truth i actually think boxing u have to have alot more of endurance and stamina because mma rounds are only like what 3 rounds that only last about 5 minutes? i mean isnt pro boxing like 15 rounds and last about 6 minutes? and for boxing its either decision or knock out, and for mma its not nearly as long as boxing would be. Im not hating on MMA im just saying u probaly need more endurance and stamina for boxing then u do MMA.
