  • All I want to know is what this movie is and you guys are arguing about fucking bullet calibres?

  • Even your wrong, the maimi shootout, the FBI agent had revolvers, not 9mm. That's when the FBI transitioned to semi autos in 40sw

  • If I'm ever walking with a briefcase and someone asks "yo homie...is that my briefcase?"...I'm...I'm just gonna drop it and run away, run away in a serpentine pattern.

  • Thanks for choosing German quality products, we wish you a lot of fun with our nation's best firearms!

  • second amendment approved!

  • I personally don't think .40's are that snappy, but I'm also shooting them out of HK's. Even the HK P2000sk does not have that much recoil, which is surprising for a sub compact.

  • Fantastic

  • No F****N Compromise!

  • I ran this as a stage at the range awhile back. Most of the guys were duplicating this scene (both speed and shot placement) by the time they were done with a box of ammo. Man, was it fun!

"Yo, homie...is that my briefcase?" is now code for "all hell is about to break loose, and some unsuspecting ---hole is going to get what he deserves."

  • YEAH MAN! Thank you. Please type "COLLATERAL KASSEL" to youtube search. I promise it's good...! ;-)

  • All these arguments about caliber, here's the thing. Professionals usually use 9mm, but pros also shoot in the head almost exclusively. When you're double tapped in the head it doesn't matter if it was a .22

  • "HK, letting you go about your business is OUR business!"

I should make slogans for a living!

  • haha, thats some bad ass shite there

  • BAD ASS!

  • HAHAhAAH! GENIUS!!! ps I love this movie!

  • Appropriate response. ; )

  • HK - simple the best...^^

  • best movie scene EVER!

  • USP rulez.

  • Caliber arguments are pointless. 9mm and .40 S&W are about the same in ballistics test using good JHP ammo. .45 is a bit better, but you lose capacity. All these rounds will kill people. Shot placement kills.

I know a police officer who saw a man get shot through his chest (in one armpit, out by his shoulder blade) with a 12-gauge slug, run outside and steal a car. Another shot in the heart, killed instantly by a 9mm. Officer didn't have time to get a 2nd shot before he hit the ground.

  • i agree with u that it about shot placement and its nice to have the extra ammo in the mag but the knock down power of a 45 is unbeatable. an exit wound you can shine a light through helps too.

  • "knockdown power" is not important. It's all about where you hit. Also, a .45 is not unbeatable, what about .44 magnum, .41 AE, .500 S&W, .50 AE, 20mm, etc.?

I carry 9mm and .45 ACP handguns interchangeably (Beretta 92FS and Colt Commander). I don't think twice about the rounds I'm carrying - I'll be worried about hitting my target center mass or in the head if I have to defend myself. I would like to get a sub-compact pistol for better concealment, since having any gun is better than none. ;)

  • i agree about shot placement but i guess i like the thought of bigger is better. im in grizzly country and youd be stupidto hike without anything less than a 45.

  • @cha0scl0ud OK, so what about that Miami shootout that all those FBI agents died in because their 9mm handguns didn't have sufficient stopping power? That's why Federal LEO's use .40 S&W. COD fanboy.

  • Bad guys just don't fall over when you shoot them center mass. The only way to completely stop an assailant is a bullet in the cranial cavity.

There is surveillance video of a bar room shootout you can find on you tube. Even though they're still moving at the end of the video, they were all walking zombies that hadn't realized they were dead.

  • "those baddies definitely would be blown back, a couple feet. That's the beauty of the .45. "

Nothing blows someone back, especially a couple of feet. That's all stupid movie myths. I don't care if you're shooting someone with a shotgun, .45 or .50cal BMG. They're not blown back! Maybe apart, but that's a different matter.

  • Comment removed

  • Gyrfalcon's right. Getting shot will not throw someone backwards. They might STUMBLE backwards from shock or surprise, but the bullet impact itself doesn't have enough force to move someone any significant distance.

Remember, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. This means that a bullet impact can only move somone as much as the the recoil moves the gun of the person firing (ie, not much at all). And that's assuming the bullet transfers all it's kinetic energy.

  • I don't doubt this, but link to the vid?

  • basefree I'm a SIG guy. HKs, Glocks, and 1911's a are a close 2nd. Well 1911's are kinda their own breed. Glocks, SIGs, and HKs get thrown in the bin together and all are fantastic and have each been my favorite at certain times. Right now I'm using the SIG 229 the most.

  • This is the most bad ass clip I've ever seen.

  • " In a world of Compromises, some don't "

  • This all leads back to why not to fuck with Michael Mann with a .45

In ANY case, the USPs, all of them, are amazing.

    Never fired a Sig before

    Fired a Glock 17 (One with a double-stack Mag, I might add)

  • "and the general feeling that the USP owns." LOL awesome and yeah it does!

  • I'd prefer a 40 cal in this situation. 40's for me are alot more manageble and still have plenty of knock down.

  • I think the general consensus is that the .40 round is one of the snappiest rounds out there. Have you shot the full size USP .45? It shoots softer than my P30 in 9mm.

  • cant say i have, though id imagine H&K definately knows what theyre doing when making an effective .45

  • I second that, both my usp and glock 45 both shoot softer then the 9mm counterparts.

  • 40s can be very snapy and sometimes seem (to me at least) to have worse recoil than a .45 on my wrists.

  • I agree 40 is snappy. 357 sig is similar but easier. 45 is a pop but it pushes back. .45 is the best round period! They keep making all these new rounds but it is still effective 100 years later...

  • The gun is a USP in .45. All you people saying it's a .40 don't know what you are talking about. Try doing a little research.

  • the USP used .40 for 5 or so years before the .45 started even getting used. no offence, but maybe you should be the one doing a little more research before you post comments like this.

  • Seeing as how I own a USP40 and a USP45 (among many other HKs) I am well aware that the USP can come in .40S&W. I was saying the USP in the movie is a USP45. If you zoom in you can see it was a USP45. Cruise said it was a 45. Mann said it was a 45. Doing enough research to find that out would have taken less than 5 minutes. Try doing that next time.

  • my bad, i read ur post wrong.

  • True but the 9mm is where it's at. As an owner of this gun I can honestly say it is the best USP. Hell, the German military sidearm is the 9mm USP. 15 rds of perfection ;)

  • 9mm?? Perhaps it works for you, but I'd rather have the perp not testify against me. Thats why I carry a .40.

  • Your post suggests that the 9mm won't get the job done, thus not killing the "perp". I'm no historian, however I do know that the 9mm luger cartridge was responsible for more deaths on the battelfields of the 20th century than any other.

  • yes, that may be true but most situations that call for this measure are similar to what we see in this scenario. a .45 straight knocks people on their ass and the popular consensus is that the 9mm just doesnt have that power. thats why police carry .40 coz they want that even playing field when taking on perps who are armed with somethin perhaps more powerful. just a thought.

  • I go oldschool and roll with .38 supers with my colt commander.. Ill take classic perfection anyday over synthetic polymers

  • Omg this was awesome. The coolest scene from the movie ''Collateral'' . Yes the USP in 45.caliber kicks major ass! Im no Tom Cruise fan but he did amaezing role as bad ass Vincent! :D

Oh and by the way: Michael Mann is awesome. I loved the ''HEAT''.

  • thats bad ass.

that what you do when somones fucking with ya, send them to hell not jail.

  • Imagine if it were Deniro instead of Cruise...

  • Deniro would be more believeable than Cruise.

  • I can't picture DeNiro saying "Yo, homie."

  • HK is a great gun! I have heard all around (IMDB, Director Michael Mann's Commentary) that the caliber was .45 ACP. The autopsy woman could have goofed... Movies are neve perfect. I will say the .40 is a great round.

  • Michael Mann created some of the best shootout scenes in history.

Like in HEAT when they are bounding forward tward the police in that gunfight.

Did the same Ex-SAS commando from Collateral teach them as well?

I read Bravo Two-Zero, the story about Andy McNabb, and Heat reminded me of those exact same bounding techniques.

Cops usually expect the bad guys to run away from them, not tward them, lol.

Val Kilmer did a pretty quick reload with that M4 during that scene as well.

  • A few people seem to be confused as to what caliber the pistol is.

Its a .40 cal. and I can prove it real fast.

A few scenes later on, when the lady in the autopsy room is examining the thugs bodies, she clearly states it was a .40 cal and she remarks on the shot groups being within a few millimeters of each other.

  • I had the exact same USP for 2 years until I switched over to a USP .40 Tactical

I personally love the .40 because, unlike the rounded tip of a 9mm or .45, the .40 cal. has a flat tip.

Its made to hit you and expand rather than penetrate.

H&K also has a unique spiral for their barrel which is kind of raised rather than indented.

Awesome pistol, never had a single jam or malfunction. Easy to field strip and it can be customised to a left or right handed shooter.

  • Dude it was a guy in the autopsy room, and he never said what caliber they were. All he said is "2 to the sterum and 1 to the head".

Its already been proven that the gun was a .45 with commentary, script, and even the movies firearm contract is in the internet (clearly states .45).

  • If you leave your briefcase at home you will have no problems.

  • "Yo homie, that my briefcase?"

    Genius.

  • Come on folks _ movie = smoke and mirrors.

Don't let your feet get off th gorund.

  • Drop to one knee and make him re-sight? So his snap shot catches you square in the forehead? Cruise was prepped for the shooting part of this role by a former SAS Operator who preps movie guys for roles like this, but part of his training was live ammo on a range. Yeah, MY H&K P30 is my EDC (everyday carry) gun. Awesome weapon.

  • 'Heckler and koch. making sure that you shoot the bastard first!'

  • In a world of compromise

    Some Dont

    Heckler & Koch

Very professional shooting from Mr Cruise.

  • ok im sold but i think il settle for the Kimber

    Pro Covert but thats me

  • Every USP owner should buy a 1911 pattern handgun just so they have something to rimind them of what 100 year old handguns look like.

  • "At Heckler & Koch we make sure you make the other poor dumb bastard do the dying!"

    "Choose life...Choose Heckler & Koch!"

  • I think we did an IDPA scenario like this about 3 years ago at the club. T1 at almost point blank range and T2 was almost close enough to spit on.

I forget what I used that day, either a SIG P228 or Springfield 1911 .45.

  • owned biotch

  • Perfect technique. Made the move while perp was expecting hand movement. Then controlled the firearm away from the body. Drawed. Fired from low retention on T1, Mozambique drilled T2.

  • "Because a beretta 9mm just isn't enough."

  • "you know most people say oh its only a 9mm, it aint gonna do nothin, well when i shoot you twice in the heart and once in the head, it aint gonna matter" -navy seal

  • coming soon to a gun store near you.

  • haha

  • not sure if anyone noticed it but, "ass fuck who talks like a black dude" #2 made the stupid mistake of putting his holster in his crotch. couldnt get it out until it was too late. they try to make it look like a real situation, i give em credit but still unrealistic as far as tactics are concerned.

  • Looks like a solid attack, he didn't show aggression so the target felt in control, kept hands low for fast access to his firearm. He waited to engage both tangos in close proximity avoiding the chance of being flanked and when disabling a target firearm its best to push the arm toward the torso or chest to disable the other arms forward movement, easier in this situation because of the way he's holding the gun. As far as speed goes i have a friend who can put a double tap and a head shot in .42

  • oh no...I clearly get what your saying, I was just pointing out that the success of the whole counter attack was based on the fact that the 2nd attacker was ill prepared. In real life, who puts a locking holster in the front of their pants? Any one? well...it is LA and the words "criminal's" and "intelligence" dont appear to often in the same sentence.

cruise's technique was perfect, though in the event the second guy draws, I'd drop to one knee and make him resight and keep the advantage.

  • You didn't see it, but the guys had a "Born to lose" tattoo.

    (Heat Reference)

  • lol!

  • h&k usp

  • HK. First choice of ex-military sociopaths the world over.

(Not sure HK wants that kind of branding...)

  • Great Movie

  • Heckler & Koch, Have it your way ;)

  • black men know how to use guns?

yeah thats why they always end up shooting innocent bystanders even though they are aiming at each other.

  • definatley one of the most realistic and best kill scenes out there. Those are very real moves, not like ur typical hollywood bullshit.

  • dude shut the fuck up, go be emo somewhere else fucktard.

  • You should make use of the audio preview feature, so you realize how stupid the things you're saying are.

You can either chose to hope you don't become a victim, or to ensure that you don't. When the wolf comes around, would you rather be a sheep, or a dog? Because the shepherds won't be anywhere nearby when you need them.

  • And by making the correct choice, you can even ensure your peer sheep not becoming meals.

  • HAHAHA assholes jacked the Wrooooooooooong briefcase!

  • Did you change out the sounds for the gunfire?

  • Double-tap, followed by a Mozambique Drill, He knows what he is doing.

  • yup..for the role.. Tom cruise underwent training in ammunition.

  • This is my fav. scene from the movie.

  • i own a lot of HK guns an this video clip is great!

  • Hell yeah.

  • hahahaha love it this would totally make go get one right now lol

  • I love that H&K logo at the end. I want a USP so bad I can taste it now.

  • I'm pretty sure it's called the Mozambique Drill.

Double tap to the center of mass and one to the head.

  • Teclis , its a movie how those two guys went down was acting, he coulda been using a .22 and they made them fly 50 feet back, you cant judge the bullet by the way they fell and how it took 3 shots. if he used a USP id say its a .45. as i own a 9 and 40 and 45 i can say there is a noticeable difference in bullet size, if your used to looking at them

  • I understand the movie aspect however in a film where they take great pains to be realistic it doesn't seem far fetched to make some some educated guesses I too own a 9mm USP and it seems a more logical choice for this type of shooting then a .45 since you can get 16 vs 13 in ammo count per clip and the .45 has greater power but less likely to inflict a quick bleed out wound due to it's greater mass - more knock down less penetration - just a thought.

  • I like how you called a magazine a "clip". You are retarded and know nothing about guns.

  • I like how you called a weapon a "gun" i was just making an observation based on my own knowledge, and suppositions about the film makers desire for realism in the their film. It is easy to criticize when i in fact didn't criticize anyone - your probably a 12 year old who doesn't understand much of anything, and at the very least does not understand common courtesy.

  • .45 acp has a greater chance to break bone, rip organs, and overall create more damage. And as ThaR00ster said its a magazine not a clip. .45 has more of a chance to stop someone with 1 bullet than the 9mm so 3 extra rounds isn't that much.

  • Look at this for some facts. 9mm vs .45 in google images

Penetration is about the same as a 9mm but the .45acp has more expansion.

  • 9mm usually will not pierce body armer but a 45 will. also makes a much bigger mess of the target.

  • One thing I hate in this scene, there's no blood. The good thing I like, the sound effects.

  • very nice. hahahhah

  • no its not

  • wrong dude, i know the SEAL who assisted in Toms training for the movie. Tom did the gun scenes himself

  • LOL

    Nice double taps. wowowowowowow

  • He's doing what is called a "Mozambique Drill" or "Failure Drill". Also the gun is a full size .45 USP, Michael Mann says in the extra features.

  • ahaha you must read swat mag?

  • Why is it called a failure drill?

  • I don't know. But that is what else it is known as. Its just a double tap to center mass with a third shot to the brain.

  • Because if two rounds to the chest fail to drop your target (if they are wearing body armor, for instance), then you adjust your aim and shoot them in the head.

  • I've heard it called the Somallia drill, like skelz said, two center mass, one to the head.

  • that would actually be the mozambique drill.

  • THAT'S WHAT IT WAS CALLED! I was rackin' my brain on that one, thanks.

  • so whats the zombie drill? lol

  • One to the head haha

  • LOL at :29

  • Great artistic choice at the end with the logo. Thanks for uploading!

  • unfortunatly H&K is way overpriced. You pay for the name

  • Way true. But, still very good and reliable guns. I still prefer euro-made pistols for reliablity and mechanical accuracy. G17 being the leader for this era. Still, my baby in the vault is SVI .45 veeery custom made.

  • HK .45 USP HK .45 USP HK .45 USP HK .45 USP HK .45 USP HK .45 USP HK .45 USP HK .45 USP

Not Tactical. Not the MARK 23. THE good ol'usp

He Shoots 15 rounds out of his sidearm because it is a movie. Some of the best shoot-out movies have no respect for capacity-issues: "face-off", "The Killer", "Heat".

  • Heat good movie. They showed a lot of respect for mag capacity.....cause they had really big mags :)........

  • 30 round mags in a firefight like "heat" is not big enough. Try a 100 rd. drum more like it. But yeah, anyway movies don't represent true reality, hence it is fantasy.

  • They shot way too much in heat to be realistic. I feel they should have changed mags more but IT IS A MOVIE IT IS A MOVIE STOP BEING SNOBS OF FACT AND SHUT UP.

  • It looked like larger 100 round mags in Heat. And they reloaded quite a bit(I think ;p)

  • disregard, meant to respond to a comment further down

  • Shooting 15 rounds isn't unrealistic, most double stack 9mm pistols hold that and more, including H&K USP.

Heat did a fantastic job of demonstrating magazine changes during the firefights, as did the actors in the Way of the Gun.

  • Look son,

Learn up on HK products. There are only up to 12 rounds for a .45 ACP for the HK USP .45 caliber pistol. The 9mm does have 15 rounds um..however

THIS VIDEO SHOWS THE .45 CALIBER VERSION!!!!!

  • How can you tell it's a .45?

  • Wasn't that information in the movie?

  • Dimentionaly there slightly larger. For the most part the film used .45 variants, however in the club scene Tom would have had to have been using a 9mm for the number of rounds he was spiting out. The film must have had a great armourer. Shame they didnt work in the continuity dept.

  • he is using a .22 caliber ruger with a integrated silencer on the pistol for the club scene....just for your correction. NOT A 9MM, sorry nice try.

  • I actualy meant the Korean Nightclub scene, the particular part i meant was when he was sitting/luying on the floor. From memory he fires over 12/13 (1 in the pipe) rounds without a reload. That said, im not going to get picky with continuity. For the rest of the film its a .45 USP. But yeah, it was a .22 Ruger in the jazz club, sorry i wasnt a bit more clear.

  • no the jazz scene he used a 22 cal "hush puppy" thats a usp you fucktard

  • MK22 Ruger with integrated silencer.

That is hardly similar to a usp you fart baby.

  • The way he braces for three consecutive shots at the second guy. His shoulders tighten at the last shot, even when using .45 blanks the recoil is still tremendous..

  • For those of us who don't know--wtf is "Heckler & Koch?"

  • German small arms manufacturer. As well as the USP (the gun he uses in this video) they also make the MP5 submachinegun. Generally known for making high quality (and expensive) weapons.

  • Pwned!!!

How do we know it was a .45 instead of a 9mm?

  • Yeah, I mean tell me Oprah didn't get over being black ? :D

  • Perhaps it's a phase he's going through ? Like being gay, lol. Damn good scene though.

  • Michael Mann makes the best movies involving firearms. I believe he went through FrontSite himself to get the technical knowledge for proper realism.

  • Gotta give props to the movie's tactical consultant. Just one of the rare movies where you see proper firearm handling and stance.

  • Wow, OPERATOR enough?

  • I smell /k/ommando

  • What a true OPERATOR

  • (sobs) pure art

  • now this is what i call COMPLETE POWNAGE

  • hahaa XD

    freakin sweet =D

  • Body-body-head...owned!

    :-)

  • "What else you got for me, huh?"

Two to the chest, one to the head, biatch!

  • What gun vincent has? USP?

  • He uses the standard USP .45, but i dont know as to what variant.

  • real or not, that was just fucking awesome

tom cruise plays this character soooo good.

  • Uhm... Do all the comments on the tightness of the groupings mean that people think TC actually shot these guys, and that they weren't blanks and makeup. I had no idea Hollywood had gone so far for realism.

On a more serious note, once you've gotten used to a .45 (mostly psych really, the recoil is strong but not as sharp as a 9mm or .40), there is nothing special about it. If you think you can't do fast double taps with them, go watch a practical match sometime.

  • Hey, u can bro! It's just
