I've seen a lot of folks claim that Matthew has done nothing. but actually he has. Commencement day speakers are generally all about going out into the world and doing something that is important, if not to the world than at least to you. As an actor myself I know first hand that achieve even the level Matthew has takes tons of hard work and some serious balls. plus he has stayed himself through it all even if the things he says offends some
I think he is awsome and I am a Columbia student. Get off your high horse and lighten up. He's proud that he went to our school and he's happy with what he's doing. I apologize for all the self-entitled Columbians who think they are so much better than Fox when they haven't accomplished anything themselves. I am proud to be a Columbia student and proud to have Matthew Fox be our speaker!
i'll suggest a few traits that I would prefer in a CC speaker: scholarly/intellectual achievement, demonstrated leadership, major political/legal contributions, thoughtful engagement with important issues, artistic innovation. there are literally hundreds of alumni who embody the above. fox was picked on the basis of mere celebrity, not substantive achievement [or at least not the kind that represents CC well, in my opinion].

The C stands for Columbia.

Actually, it stands for his middle name Chandler - so I've been told.

Nope, it's C for Columbia.

I don't think so. His name is indeed Matthew Chandler Fox, why would they put a "C" for Columbia in his name??

This is a terrible decision. He does not represent Columbia College well, period. I don't care if he's on TV.

and I assume you DO represent Columbia College just fine? He's been a student there, so wtf have you got to say about it.
