The ticking does come from the valves I have a valve seal break on mine and while he had to take the valve covers off I had my mechanic adjust them now it sounds perfect you might check the alternator belt mine use to make a god awful noise nice truck man I have an identical on in black with 66,000 miles on it.
@Benbiker101 hmm...doesn't sound normal, but it doesn't sound too serious. Might be an exhaust manifold stud or something. I'm not trying to be one of those "Toyotas are shit!! boo!!!", I just am curious about the tapping. It would drive me crazy if I owned it
@Benbiker101 consider adjusting your valves, its not that hard to do if you know what you're doing. might take around an hour. also lol still seems ridiculously red. i like it.
@Benbiker101 22re's tend to tick when the valves need adjusting, its a really common issue and couldnt hurt to be done. you can look it up if you want.
I'm currently 16 and me and my dad traded my chevrolet for a friends 1988 toyota pick-up with a chrome brush guard and mud tires up under it with steps i truly love my toyota it's the only automatic toyota in selma, alabama but i do have a 1978 ford f150 for sale all it needs is paint and minor interior work it's ready for the mud though i promise that
