  • @PowerbookMedic - I have an lcd screen in, but it only displays white. I have it connected in one spot (top left dock connecter). Is there another place it needs to be connected, perhaps by the copper tape? Or do I need a working digitizer to have any display?

  • My iPod mini's hard drive went bad, would it be cheaper to buy a new hard drive or a compact flash chip?

  • @3xtralife - You'd need to buy a replacement drive the same specs as your current drive (aside from storage capacity)

  • I have a 2nd gen ipod touch. I got it from a friend not two months ago. All is well and then suddenly the backlight stops working. The ipod works still, but it just doesn't brighten. • I dropped my ipod in school's toilet yesterday. i took it out, took off the case, dried the outer cover of the ipod itself off.the screen slowly got smaller and it kept turning on and off. Immediately, i ran to cafeteria and the lunch ladies got me a bag of rice. they told me to leave it in there for 24 hours.today,i took it apart using your video because other websites suggested i take it apart and put it in with the rice again. this is as far as ive come. Guidance is appreciated! thanks!

  • @CaseyCasedilla - After it has set in rice, the next thing to try is to put it back together and pray. You just never know with liquid damage. If it doesn't come on, give us a call at 1-866-726-3342.

  • my brother just took a knife to slice open the digitizer

in order to fix my audio jack!

  • @chevymuddiger - Yes, give us a call at 1-866-726-3342, option 2.

  • Hey!! I want to by a used ipod touch. Do u have it!?!?

  • if the light still comes on without the digitizer does that means it can still be fixed?

  • @XPain3X -If only the light comes on, you likely have a bad lcd or logic board.

  • DAAMMMN when I took the digitizer off I broken the cable in the left hand corner 1:50 !!!

    WHAT DO I DO???

  • @snaggypaggy - You'll have to replace the digitizer if you tore the digitizer cable.

  • @PowerbookMedic i think i tore the digitizer on my 2nd gen and when i try to turn it on it comes on but then after it flashes and shuts off

  • @snaggypaggy to the music: I cracked my glass on one side, I punctured my fingure slightly.... I shatterd small bits of glass in my eye. This can be quite difficult so take your time and don't do what I did.

  • Is there anyway to fix an ipod touch 3g, stuck in recovery mode, unrecognized by the computer? Tried everything, button combinations, reflashing but nothing.

  • I have replaced the Digitizer with a Brand New one and its still unresponsive. The touch doesn't seem to work. I have tried another brand new digitizer but still no luck. Could it be a problem with the logic board?

    Please reply back.

    Thanks

  • @DeAthZReApEr760 - If that didn't fix the issue, then most likely you do have a bad logic board.

  • @PowerbookMedic : Where would I be able to purchase a Logic Board? Do you repair iPod Touches?

  • @DeAthZReApEr760 - We sell them on our site, and we also repair them. You can call us at 1-866-726-3342.

  • @PowerbookMedic : I will give you guys a call. If I may ask, how much do you guys charge for repairs?

  • @DeAthZReApEr760 - $35 labor + part cost. We also offer free diagnosis.

  • hi, i plugged my lcd into my ipod, and all I get is a white screen. any suggestions?

  • @jusbekos - Usually that is the result on not plugging in the LCD cable properly or of a defective LCD or logic board.

  • after i did this my ipod wont turn on why is that

  • @DameonRatcliff - It's likely a cable is not properly seated.

  • i ordered a new back housing, lcd and digitzer. thanksso much for this!!

  • @MrStevensonJack Done haha

  • @umarthebeast - They're similar, but not identical. You can use our 3g video for the 3rd gen iPod Touch though

  • Is there a trick or something to get the cable to connect with the pins on the main piece? Only the top half of my touch screen works.

  • @843RebeLuTioN - Not really a trick to it...

  • Okay I took out the LCD. If I order another on Amazon will it come with the cable to connect at the bottom ?

  • @843RebeLuTioN - If you ordered it from us it would. I do not know about the products on Amazon. Our # is 1-866-726-3342.

  • @843RebeLuTioN yea i order my stuff from amazon to repair ipods

  • IF you touch the LCD screen when its ON will it mess it up ?????????????????? PLEASE reply anybody

  • @SButlerMedia - No.

  • Is the same method to remove the screen used on the 1st gen iPod Touch? Also, I have grey lines that are "expanding"; does that mean that my LCD screen needs to be changed?

  • the corners wont pop off the rest is detatched?

  • @SSwankster thank you too, i'll look it up

  • @PowerbookMedic thanks

  • Comment removed

  • @skyboat345 - The glass is $39.95, and the LCD is $49.95. We sell them online or you can call to order at 1-866-726-3342.

  • @skyboat345 if you do it all yourself the lcd+ digitizer + bezel will cost about $20-$40 for everything.. however it is pretty easy to mess it up.. look it up on ebay

  • @skyboat345 if you look on ebay its 10$ each.

  • @skyboat345 EBAY

  • I have a ipod touch 2g and i need to replace the usb charging port.. i have bought one and just wondering about the solder points and how to go about changing this any ideas

  • @DMONEY7263 - It depends on which cable you're talking about and who you are buying it from, but it should. We sell the digitizer which includes the ribbon cable at our website. You can also call us at 1-866-726-3342 for questions or to order.

  • Does your memory get erased by doing this?

  • Hello, I've seen your videos, but I have a question about a problem here in my ipod touch 2g. Well, the backlight was all right, but suddenly, it didn't work again, so, the ipod now seems to be at the minimum brightness level, so I want some help if I should buy a new display or I can fix it by myself, thank you.

  • @Metfull - Usually a new LCD will fix this issue.

  • very helpful sir, many thanks

  • love this vid

  • @autokadas Search on ebay or amazon. Iphone toolkit $3.50

  • Where is the motherboard lol? It cannot be that small now.

  • Could you tell me what's the name for background music??

  • how do i replace Logic Board Cable ? i ruined my digitizer connection the little teeth got bent cause i got a diggi that was a fake

  • @zell0420 - If you're talking about the connector on the board itself, you can't easily replace the component. You'd need to replace the board to replace a component connector such as that.

  • @PowerbookMedic how do i do that any soldering ?

  • I tried to open my ipod touch 2g but I didn't open it. It was very hard for me as i open the glass a bit up there was glue I don't know is it right when there is glue??

  • @Moviemaker3004 - There shouldn't be glue unless you are opening it incorrectly or you bought it used and someone messed with it before you.

  • you be like a dam pro

    Nice tutorial.

I didnt need to fix my screen but now i do.

  • my top screen is bursted, kan i order a new front and repair it myself? does anybody know where to buy it, if possible? i'm from holland, so if possible somewhere nearby holland :p

  • @drumkilla - You can repair it yourself. We sell the parts at our website, and we do ship internationally as well.

  • @guitarerik93 - Go back in and check your LCD cable connections. It's going to be a hardware issue.

  • @PowerbookMedic i did, i took it out and repluged it in several times now and the cable fits in snug so im lost.

  • yup what a good video, one of the best video i have seen so far, now i can replace my battery with no problems at all

  • if you put everything back, will the ipod still work or will it be messed up? because since i have to open mine to fix the lcd screen, i want to fix my sleep button which is jammed in. But if it means ruining my itouch, i would rather not disasemble it. thank you!

  • Man, these screws are so small!Very hard to loosen them up. And yes, I am using the right sized screwdriver.

  • is it possible to remove the audio jack just after you remove the lcd?

  • @QWEFFF146 - Yes, but it's best to remove the LCD first so you don't damage it.

  • @PowerbookMedic the audio jack isnt soldered like the battery right? lol

  • @QWEFFF146 - Yes, the audio jack is soldered.

  • wouldn't you have to re-adhere the lcd back to the plate?

  • @guywholikesmacs It's not necessary but you can

  • Hi. I buy mi Ipod Touch with some problems in the screen it has a black scratch across the screen and the rest it looks like a inverted color you know.. so if i do this can i fix it ??

    thanks

  • i fucked up my ipod screen XD anyone else?

  • yeah i accidently broke my ipod screen its cracked and the LCD has a black line running through it i know i need to repair both the LCD and the glass screen but in what order do i repair my ipod? btw i have 2nd gen ipod touch

  • @Swaghacks4ever - They are two separate components so you replace them individually...either can be first.

  • where is the internal speaker?

  • I was doing ok until I got up to the screw right before you take out the LCD. It seems to be rusted and I cannot get it loose. It looks like I even mangle the bite/engraving of the screw so its hard to get any torque on it. I really wanna repair this thing as its my mom's older Ipod Touch and it's probably the only way I will be able to afford one.

  • @zer07777 well. just my luck. After some WD-40 and immense finger pressure I got it out :)

  • Quick ?. While removing the lcd screen. In the bottom next to the Lcd connector . Is a small brass/copper spring?. It came off. I have the small piece how to I connect it back on?

  • I have an Ipod Touch 3g .. yesterday..i was just trying to open my ipod..with a screen screwdriver and cracked my digitizer ..and then i found tht my touch screen wasnt responding , so i went to the service station they told tht it is a physical damage so i will hve to pay for that 250$ OMGG .i can buy a new one instead....so will replacing the LCD Screen help in my touch screen working? please respond !!

    Thankx

  • My Ipod touch 2nd gen's screen is cracked, with many scratches... No fun. Is this process safe? What happens if you mess up?

  • I 've had to replace the LCD and outside screen on my son's ipod touch 2nd gen, unfortunately I ripped the copper tape along the top right hand corner of the LCD. I am thinking of gluing a strip of cooking foil to see can I make the connection, do you think I can get away with this or am I in more trouble, as I was the one who damaged the screen in the first place!!!!

    Regards and Thanks

  • @n151263 - You're in more trouble unfortunately. I'd recommend having the unit professionally repaired.

  • I have ipod touch 1st gen this video can help to replace glass

  • @acapulqueno68 No, I am sorry. You will need to watch a first gen digitizer replacement video, the process is considerably different than that of 2/3 generation ipod touches.

  • how to replace the wifi ribbon??

  • My daughter got her 3rd gen touch wet in the rain. She kept turning it on before it dried out and the display worked a little but not properly. Now the screen is dead but the unit works ok plugged into iTunes and I can hear it click when I take screen shots. Does the LCD need replaced? Thank you

  • @niw2468 - I'd start by replacing the LCD, and if that does't work you'll need to likely replace the logic board.

  • can you make a video oh how to replace ipod touch 2g headphone jack Please and thank you

  • i have a problem with my touchscreen. i have a waterdamage and replaced the touchscreen but it doesnt work. i dont know whats going on there could you give me a tip?

  • @TheSlimshady94 - You likely have a logic board issue and need to replace the board.

  • is it difficult 2 reassemble or does it all pop back into place

  • @foshissle - No, it isn't that difficult if you go slowly and make notes of what went where.

  • Hi. I am going to replace the touch screen/digitiser and LCD screen on my iPod Touch 2nd gen. However the sleep/hold button doesn't work properly. I have to press it really hard to work. What can I do?

After I put the screen in etc and restore the iPod, will the sleep/hold button work?

    Thanks

  • @wizrafi - When you go in to change the digitizer, check out the button and make sure everything is routed and connected properly. If it still doesn't work, you'll likely need to replace the part.

  • Ok I was replacing the home button and the gold spring plate came off while I was removing the the digitizer frame so do I soilder it back into the motherboard or glue it? Please don't talk about warranty or jailbreak because I know What I'm doing I just want to know if it was glue on or solider on?

  • @aznfriedrice415 - I strongly recommend never using superglue. It releases vapors while drying that can damage other components....not to mention it is just poor practice.

  • @aznfriedrice415

solder, glue is like electrical barrier

  • @aznfriedrice415 solder on partner.

  • If I wanted to replace the headphone jack, would I just pull it out from 6:57?

  • @phantomkyle566 - Yes, at 6:57, the headphone board is the part in the right hand side of the part the tech is removing and can be easily removed from there.

  • @PowerbookMedic I see. I'm guessing that step requires soldering, right?

  • @phantomkyle566 - Yes it does.

  • THE BEST EVER!! Although i have one question, if we first remove the digitizer and acccidenttaaallly snapped that ribbon cable, will the ipod still work? i feel scared.

  • @MoreauDePaulinc - If you tore the ribbon cable, then it will not worked. It depends what you mean by "snapped."

  • @PowerbookMedic oh. i Meant ripped in half. i was careless then, my ipod is suffering water damage, and i need a new digitizer. Know where i can get one? oh and, will my ipod still work?

  • @MoreauDePaulinc - You can get the parts for repair from our website. It's hard to say if your iPod will still work or not. You may want to get it diagnosed. We offer a free diagnosis service as well.

  • What type of screw driver is he using? I know it's a philip screwdriver but my precision tools cannot open turn the screws.

  • @Fabu2411 - It's a Phillips size #00. They are available from our website.

  • how is the black button of the screen attached? i bought a glass screen on ebay and it didnt come with that button of the electronics in the back. It also didnt come with those clips on the sides to hook it back into the frame. Any suggestions?

  • o nd also I didn't see the accelerometer. Whare is that?

It must be tiny but man it's so accurate!

And that battery is probably the thickness of a pringle chip :D

  • wow I was thinking about doing this to push a dent out of my ipod but after seeing this, I started cringing

  • is the ribbon on the back of the lcd screen important? necause if i replace it what do i do about the ribbon that was behind the original?

  • amazin vid (h5)

  • By far the best take apart vid for the 2nd gen yet. Most vids go as far as getting to the logic boards. This takes it all the way. I've been searching for a vid like this for the longest so that I can replace the back cover. Can you show how to remove the battery?

  • If I unscrew the headphone jack and screw a new one will it work?

Is something i need to watch out for?

  • I am fairly certain that internals aren't linked like that. Apple isn't like Microsoft with the Xbox 360 haha.

    -phxdrummer16

  • So no, it won't work?

  • I think it will. Considering you can just buy new parts on Ebay.

  • This is absoulty awsome! Thank you, now I might change my glass screen.
