@PowerbookMedic - I have an lcd screen in, but it only displays white. I have it connected in one spot (top left dock connecter). Is there another place it needs to be connected, perhaps by the copper tape? Or do I need a working digitizer to have any display?
I have a 2nd gen ipod touch. I got it from a friend not two months ago. All is well and then suddenly the backlight stops working. The ipod works still, but it just doesn't brighten. Now, my question is, could a simple replacement backlight fix this, and if so, where can i purchase a backlight?

I 've had to replace the LCD and outside screen on my son's ipod touch 2nd gen, unfortunately I ripped the copper tape along the top right hand corner of the LCD. I am thinking of gluing a strip of cooking foil to see can I make the connection, do you think I can get away with this or am I in more trouble, as I was the one who damaged the screen in the first place!!!!
@acapulqueno68 No, I am sorry. You will need to watch a first gen digitizer replacement video, the process is considerably different than that of 2/3 generation ipod touches.
My daughter got her 3rd gen touch wet in the rain. She kept turning it on before it dried out and the display worked a little but not properly. Now the screen is dead but the unit works ok plugged into iTunes and I can hear it click when I take screen shots. Does the LCD need replaced? Thank you
i have a problem with my touchscreen. i have a waterdamage and replaced the touchscreen but it doesnt work. i dont know whats going on there could you give me a tip?
Hi. I am going to replace the touch screen/digitiser and LCD screen on my iPod Touch 2nd gen. However the sleep/hold button doesn't work properly. I have to press it really hard to work. What can I do?
After I put the screen in etc and restore the iPod, will the sleep/hold button work?
@wizrafi - When you go in to change the digitizer, check out the button and make sure everything is routed and connected properly. If it still doesn't work, you'll likely need to replace the part.
Ok I was replacing the home button and the gold spring plate came off while I was removing the the digitizer frame so do I soilder it back into the motherboard or glue it? Please don't talk about warranty or jailbreak because I know What I'm doing I just want to know if it was glue on or solider on?
@aznfriedrice415 - I strongly recommend never using superglue. It releases vapors while drying that can damage other components....not to mention it is just poor practice.
@phantomkyle566 - Yes, at 6:57, the headphone board is the part in the right hand side of the part the tech is removing and can be easily removed from there.
THE BEST EVER!! Although i have one question, if we first remove the digitizer and acccidenttaaallly snapped that ribbon cable, will the ipod still work? i feel scared.
@PowerbookMedic oh. i Meant ripped in half. i was careless then, my ipod is suffering water damage, and i need a new digitizer. Know where i can get one? oh and, will my ipod still work?
@MoreauDePaulinc - You can get the parts for repair from our website. It's hard to say if your iPod will still work or not. You may want to get it diagnosed. We offer a free diagnosis service as well.
how is the black button of the screen attached? i bought a glass screen on ebay and it didnt come with that button of the electronics in the back. It also didnt come with those clips on the sides to hook it back into the frame. Any suggestions?
By far the best take apart vid for the 2nd gen yet. Most vids go as far as getting to the logic boards. This takes it all the way. I've been searching for a vid like this for the longest so that I can replace the back cover. Can you show how to remove the battery?

My Ipod touch 2nd gen's screen is cracked, with many scratches... No fun. Is this process safe? What happens if you mess up?

I 've had to replace the LCD and outside screen on my son's ipod touch 2nd gen, unfortunately I ripped the copper tape along the top right hand corner of the LCD. I am thinking of gluing a strip of cooking foil to see can I make the connection, do you think I can get away with this or am I in more trouble, as I was the one who damaged the screen in the first place!!!!
Regards and Thanks

@n151263 - You're in more trouble unfortunately. I'd recommend having the unit professionally repaired.

I have ipod touch 1st gen this video can help to replace glass
acapulqueno68 1 year ago
@acapulqueno68 No, I am sorry. You will need to watch a first gen digitizer replacement video, the process is considerably different than that of 2/3 generation ipod touches.

how to replace the wifi ribbon??
andres985 1 year ago
My daughter got her 3rd gen touch wet in the rain. She kept turning it on before it dried out and the display worked a little but not properly. Now the screen is dead but the unit works ok plugged into iTunes and I can hear it click when I take screen shots. Does the LCD need replaced? Thank you
niw2468 1 year ago
@niw2468 - I'd start by replacing the LCD, and if that does't work you'll need to likely replace the logic board.

@foshissle - No, it isn't that difficult if you go slowly and make notes of what went where.

Hi. I am going to replace the touch screen/digitiser and LCD screen on my iPod Touch 2nd gen. However the sleep/hold button doesn't work properly. I have to press it really hard to work. What can I do?
After I put the screen in etc and restore the iPod, will the sleep/hold button work?
Thanks
wizrafi 1 year ago
@wizrafi - When you go in to change the digitizer, check out the button and make sure everything is routed and connected properly. If it still doesn't work, you'll likely need to replace the part.

Ok I was replacing the home button and the gold spring plate came off while I was removing the the digitizer frame so do I soilder it back into the motherboard or glue it? Please don't talk about warranty or jailbreak because I know What I'm doing I just want to know if it was glue on or solider on?
aznfriedrice415 1 year ago
@aznfriedrice415 - I strongly recommend never using superglue. It releases vapors while drying that can damage other components....not to mention it is just poor practice.

@aznfriedrice415
solder, glue is like electrical barrier

@aznfriedrice415 solder on partner.

If I wanted to replace the headphone jack, would I just pull it out from 6:57?
phantomkyle566 1 year ago
@phantomkyle566 - Yes, at 6:57, the headphone board is the part in the right hand side of the part the tech is removing and can be easily removed from there.
PowerbookMedic 1 year ago
@PowerbookMedic I see. I'm guessing that step requires soldering, right?
phantomkyle566 1 year ago
@phantomkyle566 - Yes it does.

THE BEST EVER!! Although i have one question, if we first remove the digitizer and acccidenttaaallly snapped that ribbon cable, will the ipod still work? i feel scared.
MoreauDePaulinc 1 year ago
@MoreauDePaulinc - If you tore the ribbon cable, then it will not worked. It depends what you mean by "snapped."

@PowerbookMedic oh. i Meant ripped in half. i was careless then, my ipod is suffering water damage, and i need a new digitizer. Know where i can get one? oh and, will my ipod still work?
MoreauDePaulinc 1 year ago
@MoreauDePaulinc - You can get the parts for repair from our website. It's hard to say if your iPod will still work or not. You may want to get it diagnosed. We offer a free diagnosis service as well.

It must be tiny but man it's so accurate!
And that battery is probably the thickness of a pringle chip :D

amazin vid (h5)
liam2kaiii8 2 years ago
By far the best take apart vid for the 2nd gen yet. Most vids go as far as getting to the logic boards. This takes it all the way. I've been searching for a vid like this for the longest so that I can replace the back cover. Can you show how to remove the battery?

If I unscrew the headphone jack and screw a new one will it work?
Is something i need to watch out for?
BwSeven 2 years ago
I am fairly certain that internals aren't linked like that. Apple isn't like Microsoft with the Xbox 360 haha.

So no, it won't work?
BwSeven 2 years ago
