I got two Tiels from my friend and they are really scared of any kind of human contact. I reach in just to change the water or give them new millet and half the time I have to chase the female around my room because she flies out every time I reach into the cage... Do you have any tips of what I could do? Oh... and the male bites anything that moves... HARD!
@theHardcoreChaos Lovey does that too sometimes. But when she wants to snuggle she will just curl up if you are on a chair between your neck and the chair. Just keep trying - lure him with a little treat, millet or whatever he loves to eat. good luck
@theHardcoreChaos yes you can cut his wings, i cut mine too if your not able go to a pet chop, you have to be careful when you cut the wing (blood vessels..).
ive had two beautiful cockatiels just like yours for 5 years now and i love them dearly but they still are extremely afraid of me, there is nothing more i would love then to be able to let them run around and fly around my house but they just seem to be so scared whenever i let them out and i always worry they will hurt themselves. they just seem to hate me i dont know what to do i want to handle them and love them more than anything but they just are so scared, please help!
@tommyboyriando i hv a cockatiel and just lost a ringed parakeet months ago :( anyways both of them were caught and extremely wild the parakeet was worst since he was hurt by humans so he had no trust at all both of them turned to be the most wonderfull birds ever after sometime just dnt give up and dnt push them around i wasnt able to train her to do tricks other than stepping up but my cockatiel is greatly attached to me nw nd wont leave my shoulder or my glasses :P
the cockatiels like i need some more water in this thing! i cant ger my wings or ma head in.... u can fill that thing theyr smart enough not to drown. i have a sun conure and a green cheecked conure

How cute these birds are. My cockatiels take baths in their water dish all the time. When they are finished we have to fill the dish again. It's cute to watch though.

Lovey. is. The. most. BEAUTIFUL. Bird ive ever seen. Its so cute! I love Lutino Lovebirds. I want one not only because they sing such a nice song, and they are such beautiful birds. But I cant have one yet because my mother refuses to " have a bird sqaking all the time " Are lovebirds loud? because i hope theyre not. Because if i convice my mother to get my one i dont want her to complain.
I miss my lovebirds now! But how do you keep lovebirds and cockatiels?? My old lovebirds started to chase my cockatiel but now I have barraband parakeet instead.
@bviking1354rs You can, or you can use a spray bottle to give them a bath. Bathing is very important for their feathers and skin. It just depends on the bird, some like to get in a bowl and some like to be sprayed. LOL, I guess just like us, some like to bathe in a tub, some like showers. good luck with your new baby - post videos.
hi there i have a male lutino cockateil dat i dont keep in a cage or n e thin...cuz i think dats not gud for him...he's relly playfull and all but can u tell me if its ok to keep a cockateil alone wid out a mate?i mean it wont get him sad or n e thin wud it?cuz we r trying not to keep two birds in da house...cuz dat will make quite a mess now...
@gingerpixie28 he does hav a cage...but never sleeps in it...i dont know y...he'l go and climb up on it,play in it...but as soon as its his time 2 sleep...he wont get n e where near da cage..if i try putting him in there...he wud try clinging on the sides of it and try to get out...he prefers to sleep in a shoe box instead,he even tries to shut the hand made lid on top of him...wat shud i do?
@BennyJennyJ1 Aww thats cute. I think you should just let him sleep in the shoe box make sure to not throw it away with him inside it thinking the box is trash though.
@daisygrantt oh i did get him three more mates, tdat post was 5 months ago...ii bought two males and a female...but now i think he was better off alone....he's really jealous of the other three...is always pulling at their feathers..little brat...and he would scream like crazy all day to a point when i start getting a headache, even now he's screaming at me to put the other three out of the room...lol..but i love my babies like anything...
awwhh. this is cute! Luvie!! The cockatiel is the cutest thing ever! My cockatiels luv to go under the sink tap and just let the water run over their feathers.
yep- none of my tiels liked the snuggly- just lovey, sunny (sun conure), and Keiko & Kamali like the ones that have a hard bottom and look like a tent.
Do you have them outdoor or indoors? i can't see any 'jail' XD -well i take my coackteil out of hers and she doesn't fly away so, i think it's similar?
I know, when I get a response like that, I check out their profile and realize what kind of person they are - they just don't understand animals, bird, fish, all that. thanks
oh my goodness, that was way too cute ! =) I was thinking about getting a lovie, do they make good pets? Friendly? Too loud? any help would be appreciated
They make excellent pets - as long as you get them as a baby and preferably hand fed. Also, if you just get one. Once you get another lovebird - they don't want to interact with you much - Just my experience - they can be quite noisy and nasty when you get more than one - otherwise - they are very sweet.
Check out my other vids - i have one where it was treat time and Lovey was in the room being the 'court jester' when all the 4 legged critters were eating.
what is the comparisim between a male and a female lutino cockatiel?? pls tell me cause a have a lutino cockatiel and still dont know if it is a male or female :)
your birds are just adorable!!! just got myself a male whitefaced cockatiel... or perhaps i should say he found me, haha flew into my house one day! just wanted to ask this question, 'cos i don't want him to be lonely or anything. was planning to get a female cockatiel, but i don't want them to breed! is it possible, at all? do tell!! :DD thanks so much!! ((:
have to agree on that!! he's so adorable! just love how sweet he looks. :D keeping a bird was never something i considered before... :P hm, it's just that some days of the week i'm out almost the whole day at school and there'll be no one with him D:, and i just keep worrying that he'll be a lonely bird at home.... :/
do 2 males fight, though? if i were to put them in the same cage?
I would also avoid plastic and furnished wood. Try to get wood pieces that don't have waterproof coating. Even though that lovebird's home is cozy, you should go with organic cotton. Polyester contains formaldehyde and processed cotton contains parathion. It will kill the bird slowly, especially since the bird is coming into contact with it everyday.
Wow, thanks for the info. Hmm, but even avoid the plastic container for their bath? I have their food in ceramic dishes and their drinking water in the bird hanging dishes.
What about fleece? I have another cozy I made out of fleece, but she tends to go into the smaller one, which I'm not sure what it's made from. AND what about washing her cozy?
Ceramic is the way to go. Pyrex is the best! Yup plastic additives like phthalates, BPA, and even antimony is known to leech into water or whatever contents inside. You should know that chemical industries care about their products and only put their products in large glass drums, not plastic. So, the question is: are chemicals more important than food?
Bird is like half asleep. You should try using Reverse Osmosis Filtered Water. The bird will notice tremendous difference and will love alot longer than just plain tap water or even regular filtered water.
You're welcome! I'm assuming it's NSF certified. It's just the truth, I guess that's why it's funny, but studies prove that chlorination of water does in fact lower life quality and longevity substantially. God forbid fluorine, pharmaceutical residues, and chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and etc.
very good - cockatiels are such fun - have a look at my videos of how smart cockatiels are - opening the cage doors to "escape" and disco dancing, etc - click on my name

My Pineapple GCC, Jasper, loves his the "right" way. He even fashioned a flap for it out of a rope hanging in his cage.
It's cute to see birds snuggle in something or with each other. It looks so comfy.

Also, you are looking at an older video of their playstand. That plastic bin got thrown out.
My hubby recently made a BEAUTIFUL aviary huge cage from untreated wood and wire. You can find that on my channel, if interested.

Bird is like half asleep. You should try using Reverse Osmosis Filtered Water. The bird will notice tremendous difference and will love alot longer than just plain tap water or even regular filtered water.

Funny you say that - Because that is what we have. We only use Reverse Osmosis Water. Thanks for the tip though.
