All volunteer army came to Britain’s aid from the start; donated one billion dollars to Britain’s war effort with no strings attached, unlike another country I could mention, who bled Britain dry while war profiteering; participated in lend-lease; towards the end of the Battle of the Atlantic, more than 400 ships, almost half the North Atlantic escort force, were Canadian; played a vital role in D-day landings. 1. It took the US over 3 years to get involved in WW1 we(Allies) had the Germans pretty well dealt with.

2. Do you know who held the Japanese off in the beginning? Canada and Britian, look up the Battle of Singapore.

I don't think we are in Singapore but our untrained troops did fight veterans in Hong Kong. My grandfather, a HKVDC veteran who fought alongside them had very high regards of the Canadian soldiers' performance during the battle.

Personally (as a Canadian awaiting final approval from Ottawa to join the Canadian forces) I would feel proud to serve beside an American soldier. The soldiers have respect (can't deny competition) for eachother. @819418 You know Kid. The US Military has played a big role in both the First and Second World Wars, however do not, under any circumstance under cut the role played by the Canadian Forces. I'll just give you a little research Material, 'Canada's Hundred Days'. Just a preview no Nation captured more Soldiers, Trenches, Ground, and Artillery then the Canadian Crops during those last 100 Days of the War.

My grandparents are also from Holland, my Opa served in the War. They appreciate Canada so much they moved here and named my Dad after a Canadian soldier.

My grandpa is dutch and I love the connection Canadians have with the Dutch. I can't wait to go there one day and go to my great uncle's grave in uniform and see where my Grandpa grew up at the same time.
