  • Hi, I'm just wondering what happened to Zoomii. Many of us in the library world were hoping for a similar development to search our online collections. Any idea if there is any other virtual browsing tools out there?

    thanks so much,

Jeff Rosen, San Francisco State University Library

    Hi Jeff,

I am the founder's wife, Sonia. Zoomii is currently on hold. Chris, the founder and creator of Zoomii was diagnosed with brain cancer August 2010; he passed away Nov 15th, 2011. As the executor of this technology, I am now in the process of bringing Zoomii back on-line, I cannot imagine the thought of letting this legacy parish. Please stay tuned to the Internet…

  • @SoniaThiessen I am so sorry to hear about Chris. I enjoyed zoomii very much and glad to hear that you are keeping the legacy moving.

It really take sheer determination, perseverance and immense focus and unravelling commitment to deliver application of such scale by a single developer. Kudos for Chris for such a stellar effort and result.

  • Nice addition!

  • Zooming interfaces take advantage of the brain's natural aptitude for spatial understanding unlike (more common) hierarchical structures employed by many information systems.

One thing I would change about this particular implementation is the way you get to book details: At the moment you click the item and details are shown in a pop-up. I think this could be covered by simply extending the zoom depth such that details come into focus when you get really close.

  • Cool! Good Work.

    Felipe.
