I never agreed with MacArthur high taling it out of the Phillipines in the dead of night leaving his men behind in the Phillipines! He said he was under "orders", that may have been true, but I still think you don't leave your men behind! I am not sure how he even received orders when communication as far as I know was cut off! That is kind of like a Captain of a sinking ship being the first one in the life boat and rowing away by yourself!
I just finished a book about Hirohito. Its descriptions were very vivid, and it detailed the interesting story of how the emperor and the general who defeated him actually developed a warm friendship during the postwar years, and the Japanese people actually came to have a great deal of respect and even affection for MacArthur because of his lenient and generous handling of the occupation-it remains a key part of why the US and Japan are so close to each other today.
@dkupke Yeah, because MacArthur overlooked the massacres authorized by the Emperor and the disgusting human testing of Unit 731. Thanks to him, monsters that tortuously killed millions of people are now rich beyond their dreams because of both their actions and his. The innocent blood of millions are on his hands.
@Tacotruck1166 Yes? The US always has thought of itself as the paragon of justice. We executed Sadam Hussein for much less than that. And they didn't even put the people who carried out the massacre on trial much less the emperor because of the terribly sinister deal MacArthur made. So that has always been thorn in Chinese US relations; we ditched our allies for the enemy since Japan performed disgusting human experiments on them and we wanted the information.
He'll be back.

@MengoMango So MacArthur should have put Hirohito on trial or executed him? Are you fucking insane? Ever heard the word "Rebellion".

Douglas MacArthur
George Patton.
These men above were the best patriots we had and were completely awake to the real enemy of US.
The other clerk was a jerk off IMO

@Nationsnotregimes
So true. MacArthur was a genuine and authentic American hero. Eisenhower never saw combat.
