  • also ryu's sounds like balrog, I had amiga and quite a lot of games, but the first time I played SF2 was on the SNES

  • why is chun-li stage ryu's theme?

  • I never understood why they made the voices high pitched in this version. I can't see how it would have saved memory or space.. the sample is still the same duration (more or less)

It's almost as if US Gold were trying to make the worst possible Streetfighter 2.

  • Guile makes everything better...including choppy computer ports ;)

  • OMG so funny to see this and to listening to the music - I used to play this when i was a kid on Amiga -bring back memories haha!

  • As much as I love the Amiga and all of it's iterations, I truly believe that the X68k would have DESTROYED the Amiga or forced Commodore to get their game up had that system seen a release outside of Japan. It's a shame about the fate of both systems, really. That and the Atari Falcon030.

  • at 5:58 sagat ass have been kicked.the only word that could do justice for the us gold is trash and shit.

  • The music sounds like a parody of the original themes, especially the Ryu's and Ken's (and for some reason the Ryu's and Ken's stages DIDN'T have their music :( )

  • "sseHöckk Bumm" ^_^

  • OMG!!!Ryus theme in chun lis stage?

this port is pure shit.i say the cps2 and snes version are the best ever!!!>=(

  • Unfortunately, only a few CPS1 and CPS2 games were ever released for the Saturn. Sega did not capitalize on Saturn's strengths.

  • I have a Sharp X68000 emulator, so my computer can. LOL. Seriously, the X68000 was the only system able to completely reproduce the CPS1 games until the game systems of the late 90's appeared. The Saturn could run CPS1 and CPS2 games. Playstation could sort of run them, but it was better with 3D games because it had low memory.

  • x68000 beat commodore amiga in every way! No home computer or game system came even close to what the x68000 had technology wise!

  • I had the Megadrive version but bought the Amiga version for a mate and it totally sucked in every way. Un playable, massive disc swaps, poor gameplay, did I mention shocking gamepley!!

  • dunno what u're talking about!

i had it on the amiga 500, and a friend on the snes.

the amiga version had better colours, better sound effects and was totally awesome..

disc swaps was no problem at all.

  • Ok, let´s face the obvious. If this video we are watching right now belongs to the amiga version, I thing you should agree with us that the snes version is much much better, gameplay wise. Maybe the amiga had better colours or whatnot, but this is a GAME, and it should be playable and, judging from what we are seen, you can´t help agreeing with me that this version is not as playable as the snes / md / pc engine version at all.

  • i played it with a joystick, and never noticed any wrongs with glitchy controls or anything others mentions.

i'm only speaking of personal experiences, and if i thought the game was better than on the snes, thats my opinion.

now go home and be a family man.

  • Yeah, possibly the fact that other mention the same as me is a proof that we are all wrong. I´ll go where I want whenever I want. Your last comment sucks balls. Get lost, and then try to find your way back to politeness.

  • politeness on the intertubes? no wai!

now go home and be a family man will ya?

  • Ok. I will :D

  • @panzerveps better colours?? amiga have only 32 colours on screen snes over 200 ! Better do not talk about paralax....

  • hahha, the start is soo racist hahhaa

  • amiga deserve a better version amiga is capable to do a arcade version or really close but...this game maybe is a one week of work 2 guys working in underpants at home...same goldshit finalfight amiga version...,thank for vid anyway

  • This is not a game. it is kind of one day project which shuffles some sprites downscaled from the arcade version around. But this game still sold offcourse. it was street fighter. I'd rate it 0. If anyone can find one person in the world who can enjoy this piece of shit I will give you a medal. Thos responsible for this beta first day demo thingie should be ashamed. The amiga is able to have code running that could make a pretty good conversion. But not by 1 guy made in 1 day!

  • the Sega Genesis is the second best version with the arcade version being first

  • The music is hilarious. I had this shit when I was young. Horrendous!

  • amiga version was the worst ;[

  • Back in the day it was fun !

haha today it looks like shit !

  • what the hell is that??

the Snes version was much better

  • Okay so how is the game at FREE-GAME-DOWNLOAD.mosw and u cant download for free u have to pay what a load of shit and nice gameplay

  • Was there possibility to play last for characters (Balrog, Vega, Sagat, Bison) in Amiga version?

  • no there wasn't

  • SONIC BOOM!!!!!!!

  • LOL Ryu's theme, when you fight againts Chun Li.

    I cannot stop laughing...

  • spettacular amiga music

  • i remember this game used to have it. it has changed a lot since then good game tho

  • The swapping disks was very annoying

  • This game was a massive disappointment on the Amiga. I was so looking forward to it and when i finally played it I was pretty pissed off.

  • so? nothing wrong with this game... apart from the disk load speed and thats it. amiga was 16-bit on a floppy disk. what more do you want?

^_^ i personally love this game, more for the fact you can actually use a joystick instead of a joypad (if you actully played it on a REAL amiga) felt so much more arcade.

screw the haters, real amiga kids know what i mean.

  • Yeah man i used to play in those clicky joysticks lol

  • Haven't seen this monstrosity in donkey's years lol... Takes me back to the 90s, totally awful conversion that never should've been released. It hurt the Amiga's rep and made us Amiga owners a laughing stock!

U.S Gold had a "talent" for making the worst arcade conversions possible. In fairness to the programmers, the story goes that U.S Gold didn't obtain the game data/charts from Capcom and the coders had to visit the local arcade and copy everything themselves!

You see the results of that..

  • it's funny how they had the correct music for some of the fighters but then they still used the worng ones on the wrong stage and why is the character select music one of the fightings music

  • I'd guess that they had to have it out by Christmas and thus rushed development. This happened a lot and is why there are so many dissapointing Amiga (and other home computer) ports of the day.

BUT it's nowhere near as bad as people are saying. It could be better granted but the truth is, for £25 (UK) it isn't a bad impression of what was at the time a £60 SNES game. As the world's most popular arcade, if they wanted, they could have rushed any out any old pap and it still would have sold.

  • C'mon, The Amiga Was Not Technologically Advanced Enough To Handle Streetfighter II Properly. It Needed A Lot Of Memory / Power To Run Properly. THe SNES Verso PLAYED Near Arcade Perfect, But Was Still A Long Way Off, And Don't Even Get Me Started On The PC Versions!!!

Don't Get Me Wrong, I Am A Die Hard Amiga Lover, Favorite Games Being Lotus II And Hunter ( Not To Mention Deuteros - Best Strategy Game EVER ! ), But Even Then i Had To Admit Its Short-commings

  • I'm sure it had enough power for the gfx (just look at elfmania and Fightin' spirit) but maybe not enough memory for both great gfx+sfx.

But as always, some programmers are more competent than others. From what I've heard this game was converted by someone unfamiliar to programming the Amiga.

  • Although i will agree that the SNES had more grunt, i do think that an Amiga version comparable to the SNES version (not as good but close) could have been achieved :) As someone else has already said, look at Elf Mania or even Shadow Fighters to see what can be done on a stock 1meg A500.

You really also must take into consideration that this game was published by US Gold, and although they didn't make the game, NONE of the Arcade conversions published by them were any good.

  • Comment removed

  • @blade004 Na I don't agree for one reason if you had only played the Amiga version of Street Fighter II you would never understand why people loved Street Fighter II so much at the time and it would be an average game at best.

  • AmigaFalcon is just simply making a good point, for a computer that had greater sound capabilities compared to the other consoles around at the time, the sound in this game was a huge letdown, seriously, the sound is simply awful

  • it's because us gold made it

    they fail at making games

  • That has got to be the worst conversion of any game I ever seen in my life. To think this system was available at the same time as the Megadrive. Worst machine ever and cost about 5 times as much as an acceptable console. The Gameboy port was far more respectable than that atrocity. Unbelievable.

  • "That has got to be the worst conversion of any game I ever seen in my life"

Totally agree with you, but don´t blame the Amiga.

The Amiga was with out a doubt the most advanced computer available when it hit the market in 1985.

Have a look at "Elf mania" or "Shadow Fighter" to see how good a system from 1985 performs (4 years older than the Megadrive)

The Amiga is better than the Megadrive in many ways, especially sound wise !

It IS a COMPUTER, that´s why it had a higher price tag.

  • The graphics, music, sound and gameplay in this SF2 port are SHIT. Anyone who appreciates the Amiga's true abilities understands this fact.

  • I know it's just an opinion but I have to agree here. Nothing dissapointed me more than when I first played this on my Amiga...

  • aaaa che meravigliosi ricordi !!!

  • lol, and just listen to that pathetic music! the Amiga actually has better sound capabilities than both the SNES and Megadrive put together! but you wouldn't know it from this pile of crud.

  • How could you say the sound is crap? That is one of the reasons I dug my Amiga out for the music! Although I have to admit this video does have rather crappy quality...

  • I said THIS game has crappy sound, not the Amiga. This game's sound is not a true reflection of the Amiga's great sound capabilities. Comprende?

  • Comprende?

What you on about this game had crap sound? This had a great soundtrack!

You must be a real tough guy from behind your screen...

  • See if you can grasp this: the Amiga has a PCM (Pulse Code Modulation)sound chip, capable of out putting samples at up to 14-bit resolution. Which means that it has the ability to replay high quality analogue sounds.

The samples used in the music of this game, which you seem to love, sound like they're synthesized by an 8bit computer.

In other words, this game's music sounds NO BETTER than if it was produced for an 8-bit computer such as the C64.

  • In fact, if this music WAS done on a c64 it would sound a heck of a lot better because the c64 has a genuine synthesizing sound chip (which the Amiga doesn't) and so wouldn't have to use analogue samples to achieve the same results. And so the sound produced would be at a HIGHER resolution and would sound better.

I have more knowledge of the Amiga's sound system than you, because I spent 8+ years programming the damn thing.

The music in this game sucks, accept that fact and STFU.

  • idiot

  • Even the developers themselves admitted that they were ashamed of the sound quality in this game, yet YOU think you know better - how come? What makes YOU an expert on Amiga sound? Or are you just a regular YouTube windbag, full of hot air ignorantly ranting and raving?

  • OHHHH! You're extremly tough from behind a screen. For your information I also spent 5 years working with the Amiga too. Just because you may think it's better, don't make it so. I know it could produce sound a heck of a lot better, but you obviously can't seem to grasp the fact of opinions.

Infact why don't you step out from behind your screen and settle this like a couple of grown men?

  • You know you've won an argument when the retard you're arguing with has to resort to physical threats.

Thanks for officially sealing my victory. twit.

  • Well look at you, using all 3 of your brain cells to conjure up some childish language.

The fact that you see a web based debate as a "victory" just goes to show how childish you really are.

  • lol, Street Fighter 2 on the one button Amiga. It was a nightmare to play and a bag of shit.

SF2 is not an Amiga game, its just a quick port to cash in on the SF2 name. :)

  • majority of games as I know it display only 32 at a time, non of the games even the ones you have mention look quite as good as sonic or the colorful games of snes. i had an amiga and not a snes or megadrive, i think u guys are making amiga 500 to be more powerful then it is. u just had to play mortal kombat and all the painful disc swapping, it definately needed more ram it just couldnt handle it.

  • SF2 on A500 have a good choice of colors (i think the screen mode is EHB - 64 colors, or 32 color mode with copperlis-color-change on the fly ). Animation frames are few and scrolling is horrible ( see Shadow of the beast 2 see amiga scrolling capabilities!!! ). I think if A500 had got more ram the programmers could made a better job.

  • Cheked with WinUAE!

Screen mode: 32 colors: 16 for sprites and ONLY 16 for background...

  • Visually I find this quite impressive. Higher in resolution than the SNES game.

  • Amiga 320x200 VS SNES 256x240 (64 KP VS 61 KP)

This port is not nearly as good as it could have been, too bad :(

  • This game definately did not play like the snes or arcade versions, but was definately fun to play. Amiga could only display 32 colours on screen and used floppy discs therefore cannot compete with the snes or megadrive. Still Amiga had some brilliant games such as Shadow of the beast, flash back, moonstone, Gods and sensible world of soccer. What can I say those were the days!

  • great game!not the best port, but amiga had so many great games,so=)32 colors my ass.. look at elfmania..NO aga

  • 32 colours for display on Amiga 500, yeah those aga chipset like the Amiga 1200 had a lot of colours I agree.

  • Totally wrong!!

    Amiga had native supports for 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64 and 4096 color mode.

The 4096 HAM mode couldn't be used for games because it is too slow.

The Amiga is able to display all its 4096 colors at once in any color mode thanks to the copper chip... This game is just an awful port. Have a look at Jim Power and Lion Heart, they both has hundreds of colors on screen at once. "Shadow of the beast" has up to 128 colors at once.

  • OMFG!!!! what is this abomination!!! this is god awful I'm sorry but this is nasty as hell....Dude why won't you just get mugen it's so much better....

  • You should see the ST version. It's even worse ! lol !

  • NARRRR....this jus gave me a flashback of wen i wuz playinthisgame wen i wuz little lol joke

  • Gee could have at least put the ending on after all that . . .

  • i think it shows that a accurate port could of be done, but us gold just went about half arsed with it :(

  • It would of been worse on pc. amiga had way better graphics than pc back in the day.

  • You must all remember this game wasn't making full use of the Amiga's capabilities. This version looks a bit rushed and unpolished...

  • i love classic games.... but this is a little too classic

  • The only good thing I see here is the music.

  • Did this version come out before snes one? I remember first seeing this and thinking how horrible it looked, plays worse than it looks in this video.

  • i was looking forward to this when i heard about it but when i got it i was so upset. us gold the ones who made this for amiga should have been shot on the spot the amiga could have had a version to rival the snes but nope. nice one us gold you made a mess of final fight then done the same thing with street fighter:(

  • your video reminds me some good memories :)

  • amiga sucks the snes and arcade verison is much better

  • of course the arcade version is better

obviously you're not technically minded enough

    to make such statements.

  • Yes, but remember that the Snes had rather naff sound capability. The Amiga was much better in this department. So there!

  • SNES versio's sound effects and music sucks compared to this. amiga is everything I stand for :)

  • Amiga rulez

this is the easy mode i suppose :-D

  • Why's the Music all switched and stuff?

  • This is Amiga version of the game - the music is random (of about four music themes).

  • Yeah, i played that Version over 10 years ago, so i couldnt remember...but i think this Version was pretty bad.

  • Indeed, it really sucked compared to the SNES version..
