UN is a joke! A group who gets laughed at or ignored on the world stage! No real power. Just look at how they are helping all the Syrian children right now! The children and other innocents die while the UN schedules another meeting to talk! You would think that they would have plans and procedures in place??? Nope!

From what I've seen first hand as I've traveled to more than 30 countries over the years, the UN does a lot of very worthwhile work -- if anything, this video understates it. And there not doubt in my in my that getting countries to work together this way helps to tilt the way countries relate to each other towards peace, and away from war. ech otehr ......

The majority of UN peacekeepers are from countries like Bangladesh and Pakistan, not from the US or UK. Unless NATO gets involved, the results are simply pathetic. Rwanda was a farce, the UN fled Somalia after the US left (quickly followed by Belgium and France), and NATO did all the work in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Libya.

"It hasn't always worked" It's never worked, war was way less prominent before we started giving ourselves forums and global alliances.
Charity works better than using a bureaucratic entity to 'support the poor and sustain peace'.
UN agencies are also absurdly politicized - whether it's regarding climate change or the WHO.
Malaria is still proliferating because of the ban against DDT, admittedly a carcinogen, but less deadly than the disease.
