There are silent versions made for SpetsNaz where the click is much more quiet. This particular AK-74 is a standard version for Russian infantry divisions which features rigid stock, no scope mount.

The AK-74M has a solid folding stock. The rifle in this video lacks the folding mechanism on the rear trunnion.
It's just a standard AK-74 with polymer furniture.

I don't understand why he doesn't just keep the rifle chamber with the safety on.
If all you have to do is flip off the safety, it eliminates a ton of excessive waste movement.
I kept my AK (Arsenal SGL-20) chambered with the safety on when I had it as my home defense rifle, and I had no issues.
Surely these guys couldn't be ignoring something so simple?

@semiautoriflelover Bro this weapon was not made for silence. For silent work there are AS Val assault rifle and VSS Vintorez sniper rifle. There are silent versions made for SpetsNaz where the click is much more quiet. This particular AK-74 is a standard version for Russian infantry divisions which features rigid stock, no scope mount.

I'm willing to bet this post is frequented by airsoft specialists. I feel sorry for anyone who drooled over this video for two and half minutes watching someone charge, dry fire, and safety a rifle and considered it "really nice video".

No it's not an AK-107, an AK-107 has three fire selector positions, including a new burst feature. It also has a thicker operating rod cover that extends outward all the way to the forward ironsight. The gun he's holding is most likely a standard issue AK-74M judging by the elongated barrel and short rod cover.

this makes terrorists look like little babies with those things. everyone underestimates the effectiveness of an ak because no one has, especially in America, (I am American), personally seen a professional handling such a great weapon. I wouldn't want to meet this guy on the battlefield.

Though muzzle control is the best way to avoid gun accidents, it's not mandatory for safe gun handling, nor it is always possible to apply. Russians train HtH techniques while sparring with real rifles, US soldiers do too.

It's interesting how the Russians do a lot with the right hand. Most western countries prefer to keep the right hand on the grip and manipulate the weapon with the left.

@megatron515 Initially, the AK-47 had more ergonomic controls, but the production version had them simplified and the safety/selector lever was kept on the right side to double as a dust cover. Then they just stuck with this configuration for standarization and familiarity purposes.

Its actually an Ak-74m, notice the lacking of a curve of the magazine due to the fact that the carterige is a 5.45x39.5 and not a 7.62x39. Also note the thiness of the barrel itself.

@KOGR11 yes, same operation, but the 74 has many improvements over the 47. Muzzle brake, 5.45 ammo, updated gas piston etc. It's worth noting the differences between the two rifles.

Nice except a small percent of the actual students succeed - so over Russian army is big - but low quality. This is a professional trainer - now the students decide whether they want to be so professional... And the second thing - the AK - 47 - The damn old Kalashnikov stole the idea from the German - like most of the technology in Russia - stolen! :D
