this 1994 version of three kingdom is the BEST version ever! 2010 remake has terrible casting = FAILED, liu bei is suppose to someone with very high chrisma that ppl will follow him regardlessly, the 2010 liu bei look like someone i want to kick him to death. 2010 guan yu looks so uncomfortable he's face look like its be cooked on a bonfire. 1/2 of the cast are badly choosen, how can the 2010 cast be even compared to this version...

@FOXOF123 I strongly disagree, my friend. Plot wise, the 1994 version is better, but Action wise, the 2010 is better than this. Do you ever see people use this kind of old technology nowadays? We are moving forward. It is pointless to look back in the past. The past is history. The 1994 Liu Bei is a crybaby, and crybabies are not a Hero. The 2010 Liu Bei is a Hero. But Guan Yu is better in 1994 version, yeah I agree with this only.

I admit, Dynasty Warriors is what got me interested in this whole era. But frankly, the amount of stylization that is in those games originally led me to discover culture shock! Dynasty Warriors does not feel like China at all, merely a fictional land with a non existent culture and unoriginal names. But this? This slaps you in the face and says "this is China after all, and look how awesome we are =D"

You have to understand the history and be familiar with all major characters to really appreciate this period drama. New version may have somethings like cinematography, action sequences, etc. to brag about, which are pretty much all shit to me.

The 2010 version has better SFX. Who want to use this kind of technology nowdays? People are moving forward. We have stop living in the past. The past is history!

@ilvtofku I agree, though I may have to give up a few flashy lights, the fact remains a good story and strong acting overcomes graphics any day.

This is why Avatar is pile of poo, while Withnail and I is one of greatest films ever made, despite fact Withnail and I is 40 years old and had a budget which would not even buy Cameron's Chair.

Or to use more relevant example; Flowers of War is so bad it is painful, despite looking nice; City of Life and Death is cheaply made, but stunning.

@QofLife69 my guess would be because liu bei was loved by the people and people told the stories that were collected up to make the romance of the three kingdoms, cao cao governed well but was feared by his enemies and there people since he never conquered all of china the people of the rest of the land never saw him as a kind ruler while the whole country believed liu bei to be righteous and benevolent

There is a translation problem though, at 4:45, both the narrator and Chinese subtitle says "In the 2nd year of Zhanghe Period of the Eastern Han, which is 88 A.D." There is only 2 years in the Zhanghe Period, so the English translation of "the 88th year of the Zhanghe Period" is obviously a mistake.

@kakhakaladzemilan Hi there, as far as I know, there is no pinyin sub to this, and personally I think this is is not the best TV series to practice your listening skill with. It contains a decent amount of classical Chinese, which is not easy to understand even for a native Chinese speaker -- it's like listening to Shakespeare's play in a sense. If you want to practice listening skill, I personally recommend you choosing some more modern TV series.

In this show they explained that a certain prince promised Eunuchs power if he could take power. The Eunuchs killed his rival princes and then some of them took political office.

This caused alot of problems because Eunuchs were suppose to be servants, but there are always people tempting them to cause trouble in the imperial court.
