I rented the Qashqai over the weekend and I can tell you that the steering was very responsive. When I drove up the mounatin and around curves believe me it was amazing. Thinking in advance that the Qashqai wont live up to my expectations...I'm seriously thinking of buying it. I'm of to the Nissan dealer tomorrow to find out prices and the versions available.
Qashqai was designed in London and built in Sunderland. I was working for Nissan UK when it was released. Great car! I am ordering a +2 next month - can't wait....
@jimmytwosheds what relation does it have to the Nissan Rogue, I was in one the other day and it looks exactly like the car in this video. But obviously has a 2.5l engine and CVT rather than the renault lump, any other differences?
Qashqai (pronounced [qaʃqaːʔiː]; also spelled Ghashghai, Qashqay and Qashqa'i, Persian قشقائی) are a people in Iran speaking a Turkic language. Qashqais mainly live in the provinces of Fars, Khuzestan and southern Isfahan, but especially around the city of Shiraz in Fars.
The Qashqai were originally nomadic pastoralists and some remain so today.
"the handbrake is on the wrong side of the panel" No its not they just dident want to put it on the right side for u in England and other that drive on the left side of the road.
they use the same panel that they use in cars that drive on the right side of the road which is most of the world.
well... i'am near to order the 2.0 tdi version.. full extra.. youst tested the 1.5 tdi.. and yes i found it thery punchi.. and the child love it..it cost here in spain 28000Euros. not so expensive..
My Nissan Primera has a brilliant reversing camera fitted as standard - something that few other cars have - so why didn't Nissan put this on the Qashqai?
Bullshit! I tested cars from Toyota, Suzuki, Mazda, Mitsubishi of similar type as well as Nissan Dualis as it's called in Oz. I Always had Toyota but I'm buying the Dualis 2.0L ST option version as it outclassed the other vehicles in this category in nearly every respect. Engine can't be compared with 3.0L or more V6 but has good power for it's size & far better fuel economy. Comfort & handling is excellent. It takes 3 suitcases in back & my 190cm son on rear seat. Can't ask for more than that!
That's filmed at Highclere Castle

It was designed in part in Cranfield (UK) by a Japanese company (another righthand drive market)

Is the Qashqai in the same class/size as the Rogue sold in the US? If so, I like the looks of this than the Rogue but the Rogue name is bad ass.

I'm pretty sure it is the same. Although I agree the Rogue is a better name, this does look quite a bit better.

More or less the same car, but if you compare pictures of Qashqai and Rouge you will find differences (the front etc),

I loved it for its comfort and the small 1.5dCi was surprisingly punchy. I wonder why you hate it.
