Was anyone else surprised to learn that Mercedes still makes this car? It has absolutely no appeal, looks boring and simply can't compete with Audi's TT or BMW's Z4.
The price tag is definitely bloated and for that, the radio cluster, as a single unit, is a slap in the face. However, let the years pass and depreciation set in, and id go for the neck. The 6spd should be fun as id only get it in a stick, just curious about the hardtop reliability? anybody have any info on them? are they above average in the convertible segment?
I own a 2005 SLK350 which I bought used last year. So far haven't had any problems with the car. Other owners from the slk forum report the hardtop is solid on the R171.
The 2005 model has depreciated enough to be a great buy.
@Bleen0 im going to schedule a test drive, a bunch are for sale out here in the NY area. Not alot of people out here want 2seater cars as we are a seasonal state, SUV's and small compact SAV's are everywhere which can make buying a 2seater car more of a bargaining tool.
I concur: This car IS badd....bad ass! I've got the 7-spd auto trans (w/paddle shifters) decked out with the AMG Sport Pkg. Incredible wheels, stereo and media pkg is amazing, hugs the pavement like a spider in its web, lights turn night into day, acceleration is top-shelf, as are handling and braking...and it looks sweet as could be. This is as close to roadster perfection as one can go without spending an enormous amount of dough. Nothing like driving behind the star.

@b0ss6769 dude the z4. dont go for the s2000 CR . the honda might have affordable parts and everything but the z4 is SHEER PLEASURE.
