I went out yesterday and voted for Bishop to send you screaming idiots a message. Behaving like middle-aged babies is a disgrace. You're a disgrace and you lost any chance your candidate had by making people like me angry at your disgraceful behavior.
The Suffolk County GOP continues to make themselves look like loud-mouthed bullies at these meetings. Now they're alleging that Bishop bussed in supporters when that wasn't the case at all.
I can't understand how an American can oppose a public health care OPTION. Time to put insurance company profits on the back burner, lower costs and the national debt,, and PROMOTE THE GENERAL WELFARE, as the preamble of the Constitution insists.
I was one of the first people ther. I came in my car, and so did everone else. There were no buses, and anyone ther knows it. Yes, lots of union members were there. They are voting citizens, too. It was there district. Why shouldn't they be there?
I'm sure you assume. Problem is, you're wrong. I've been working since I was old enough to work, a very long time ago! "Libtards"??? Don't you realize how stupid that sounds?
Disbreezy: Right because "free" healthcare provided to you by a government that hasn't run anything well since they took it over is not a stupid idea right?
Well, Mouse, he DID explain. He works in the district and represented a lot of people who DO live in the district. Only a small percentage of people got to speak, so he spoke for several. You know, like a representative government. It shouldn't be so hard to understand.
I went to this thing with my mom and younger brother (I go to the school to). When all of these assholes were yelling, my brother huddled in his chair because he was so loud. My mom and I were yelling at this old fuck walking around screaming and ranting about communism, which scared my brother. In anger, I nearly leaped over my seat to beat the shit out of the guy.
The only way democrats can get anyone to show up at these things is to pay them, and bus them in. Otherwise, they would be glued to Dancing with the Retards.
I am one of the women seen in this video. The union member, ( red shirt), who was escorded out DID live in the district. He left because the guy next to him, in the orange shirt, who was later escorted out, was screaming "f*ck you" at him, and his son was with him. Everyone around them tried to shut the guy up, but he was only quiet when the security quard came around. No one was paid. Everyone couldn't wait to be there.
By the way, you "retards" comment shows what an idiot you really are.
disbreszy, you're full of shit. You're a left wing spammer paid to post your bullshit. You obots are so pathetic. You pay people to show up to these meetings, and then you pay them to post. What a pathetic group of liberal morons you are.
Union people were not bullying anyone. In fact, I only heard two people attempt to be threatening. One was the orange shirt guy who was cursing at the union member and his little boy, and the other was a woman, in a pirate hat, who said that she organized a group of tea party people. She muttered under her breath that she was going to shove something down the throat of another woman, who looked to be in her fifties. The woman heard her ,said, "Try it!" Pirate hatted wannabe thug slinked away.
Thanks for your reply truthsage1. I am so sorry that you have bought into Mr. Omaba's, the unions, and the Liberal lies about the administrations intentions with Health Care overhaul. Let me guess. You are about to retire from a union job that is fully vested in itself and Obama has saved your ass recently... After your Union (parasite) has completely destroyed the company (host) that it has fed on for years. If Obama does not succeed how long will your host continue to survive? R U Scared
cstcomputers, first, I'm not in a union. Second, I have many years to go before I retire.
Just what does "... the Liberal lies about the administrations intentions with Health Care overhaul." mean? This is a simplistic, ad hominem attack with no specifics.
He really wasn't there to ask a question... He was there to do exactly what he did.. FILIBUSTER. Mr. Mitchell stopped talking if someone coughed. He was just killin' time, protecting his PUPPET.
That is an absolute lie. The people with tea party stickers were afraid to let the other side talk, so they screamed. Sometimes thry screamed when the people at the podium actuallyy agreed with them. They SUSPECTED that the people would disagree so they started screamimg. A woman near me screamed "boo" and a second later, for the sane person, was applauding and screaming in the speakers favor. Pathetic!
No, I do not personally know any of the speakers. Maybe F&F can have Mr. Mitchell on to explain why he was in attendance if he is not a resident of NYCD1. Ha Ha
Get this.... I have video of you walking up to the podium... in the on-deck circle... and then...... nothin'! Sorry 'bout that. Unfortunately, Bishop had his "BRIBES" (contributors) dominate the event. This allowed him to avoid REAL questions.
You were the lady telling NEWS12 that your husband could not get in due to all the out-of-towners? If this is you, I have the video of you talking to NEWS12, but I had run out of battery by the time you got to the podium.
of course, we all know that extortion (euphemistically referred to as taxation) is the bedrock of any civilized society.
it's odd....mankind has managed to evolve technologically while simultaneously devolving socially. yay for totalitarianism, yay for "compassion" through the barrel of a gun!
luckily the 21st century wont be the century of all these retarded ideologies.
All of this talk about unions is a strawman argument. Unionized employees make up less than 8% of the American workforce, so obviously some other people voted for Bishop, Obama, and the rest of the Democratic Congressional MAJORITY.
If you want to talk about out-of-towners, realize that both sides had non-CD1 people there. I personally encountered Bryan Korman at Sachem E, assistant organizer of the ROCKVILLE CENTER tea party "patriots" who organized its membership to descend on the meeting
I am glad my grandfather passed before this happened. He was a strong hearted Union man his whole life and I am sure this would have broken his heart and made his last years very sad ones if he had seen it.
The idiots that support ObamaCare are mostly Union thugs that he has bailed out or will bailout. They do NOT CARE what the average American gets or wants. I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING UNION MADE AGAIN PERIOD. And after Obama is done no one will buy Union made junk but Union workers (SEE HOW FAR THAT GETS YOU).. You can take that to the bailed out Union bank and cash it if you can...
"The idiots that support ObamaCare are mostly Union thugs that he has bailed out or will bailout.".
cst, I can personally attest that what you wrote above is crap. I'm not a union member or part of acorn, but I support Obamacare. I'm nobody's tool or pawn. Speaking to many other people at Thursday's town hall, there are MANY others like me.
We need Obamacare to improve access to the uninsured, to make sure we're really covered, make sure we don't lose coverage, and to cut costs.
Obama said he wanted some citizen organization to fund like the military for use inside the USA. It appears the Dems see in these particular unions exactly the type of people they were looking for to oppress their fellow citizens.
I'm not a big supporter of single payer, but ffs if this is the level of the debate we're in trouble. There's a reason why democrats aren't showing up en mass to republican town halls to shout them down. The reason is simple, they are giving you the rope to hang yourselves with. Why do you think these townhalls keep going forward? Politicians never do anything that isn't politically expedient. They're using this disorder to caricature the republican party, and it's working.
When the govt pays the bills for a portion of the market, that is still only ONE payer. It does not create competition, big business loves subsidies because it is money they DONT have to compete for. Like I said, when people have choice of where to spend, companies will compete for their business.
Zoklor, even with the public option, most people (except the very poor) will still be paying premiums.
There will still be competition -- the public option vs all the private insurance policies.
Also, the CBO estimates that only about 10 million people will be on the public option. That's a far cry from single payer. And, if the public option doesn't do such a great job, most people will stay with private insurance.
allamericandude15, you have a point. A public option would be SORT OF a "socialized" option. The reason I say "sort of" is that people choosing this options would still need to pay premiums, it wouldn't e funded out of taxpayer funds.
Also, it would be OPTIONAL, and the CBO estimates that only about 10 million people will choose this option.
Also, it would be just for health INSURANCE, not for health care, like in England.
Are you kidding me Truthsage? What do you think all the taxes in the bill are for? To pay for it. Why would they want to take a % of medicare to pay for it? ALL tax dollars. Which we do pay. The best thing the govt could do is allow for insurance policies across state lines. That way they dont have to raise taxes, and purchasing power would be in the hands of the people. When we have the purchasing power, companies HAVE to compete, lowering prices.
Zoklor, taxes to provide subsidies to insure lower income people. These policies can be purchased from either private companies OR the public option.
This is a TRANSITION cost. Near-term, this will allow more people to get check-ups and stay healthy. Longer term, this will prevent them from walking into emergency rooms when they're very sick, which costs big bucks in private insurance premiums & taxpayer dollars.
Also, the public option's economy of scale will eventually save money.
PalinRepublic, grow up. Who are you calling a union goon? Hopefully not me! I'm in favor of Obama's health care plan, and I don't belong to a union. I was at Thursday's town hall meeting.
I believe we'll see health care legislation this year. It's not a matter of pushing and shoving, it's a matter of the real need for broader access, including the public option. Private insurance companies, who make lots of money, get away with far too many abuses. This must end.
yzazz, the Democrats not only caused the sub-prime mortgage meltdown (YouTube shows Republicans BEGGING for more Fannie/Freddie oversight), but they caused it ON PURPOSE. ACORN was founded to overload the govt bureaucracy to try to bring down capitalism.
As for seniors still getting their checks, Madoff's customers were happy for years. We can see the SS Ponzi scheme will fall soon.
Our insurance plans are too regulated. Return FREEDOM to the market and health care will improve in every way.
yzazz wrote, "And the nice Cons. that are against reform are the same con-men who wanted to invest Social Security into private accounts in the stock-market. Well that would have worked out well...last year when their S.S. disappeared in the crash."
Yes, it's much better that our Social Security money has has disappeared in the Ponzi scheme the government has been running. SS is BROKE.
Further, if Democrats hadn't forced banks to make bad loans, we wouldn't have had a crash.
So you're balming the sub-prime mortgage debacle on the Dems? Talk about revisionist history? I haven't met a senior complaining that their S.S. checks have stopped coming, so your comment that SS is broke is a bit hyperbolic. And if you think you have a CHOICE with your current insurance, try to go outside of your paln for specialized care that costs more than what is considered "reasonable and customary" and see what happens.
Let's start by reconsidering all federal laws that limit health care choices and removing most of them from the books. There should be as few federal restrictions and regulations as possible, as politicians tend to pass laws that favor their big contributors.
In a free country, WE the citizens - not the government - should make the choices that affect our lives, and providers shouldn't be bogged down with stifling government restrictions.
caraclaudel, I agree that certain regulations on health insurers should be eliminated. Specifically, the restriction that most people can't buy from out-of-state insurers. I think private insurers should have to compete with out-of-state companies AND with the public option.
Two years ago, my son couldn't by insurance because no company in NY State would sell him a policy. Yes, I agree that people should have CHOICE, but that should include the public option, if they can't buy elsewhere.
Personally, I'm against Obama's health-care plan. I have relatives in England, and they've told me about how terrible the health care system is (long lines to see a doctor, waiting months to get treatment, etc.) And Obama wants to make America's health care system just like England's, which is stupid.
But the point I want to make is that even if I were totally unbiased, it would still be easy for me to see that there is no way this health care bill will pass. There's just too much opposition.
Obama's plan is NOT the same as what's in England. England has fully socialized health care, where the doctors and hospitals all work for the government.
Obama's just pushing for an OPTION for government-sanctioned INSURANCE. It's not single-payer, and the providers -- doctors and hospitals -- would remain PRIVATE and would continue to need to compete with each other.
Yes, I know that. But even though the health plan isn't for the whole nation, it's still "socialized" just like England's. And the part that I really don't like is that it's going to cost a LOT, coming right out of our pockets.
Here's my solution (which you may find simplistic): Don't give us a whole new system, just patch up the system we already have. It'll be easier and cheaper and it won't cause so much outrage. That's just my opinion, of course.
Once the Government is an OPTION, all others will drop there employees, and all will be with the Government, Single Payer just like Obama said a few years ago to a "Friendly" Audience
drone3333, I don't believe ALL employers will drop private insurance. Companies compete for employees in part based on their benefit packages.
If the public option is so bad (even if cheaper), then most companies will avoid it, to be able to attract employees. On the other hand, if it turns out to provide effective coverage, then more companies will switch to it. If that happens, so be it!
I believe that a "hybrid" system -- both private and puiblic health insurance options -- can exist.
President "Bait and Switch" Obama advocated single payer until he was running for president, when he knew the American people wouldn't go for that. There's a YouTube video out there from a few years ago with Obama blatantly saying, "I support single-payer."
His Democratic colleagues are on tape saying a public option will drive private insurance out of business.
Obama's administration has nationalized big insurance, banking, and auto. Only the blind can't see that he's going after health care.
TruthSage1 wrote, "Obamas NOT proposing a single payer system....Hes proposing a government sanctioned OPTION for health insurance."
Obama is on the record saying he's going for single-payer: a government takeover. Our health care decisions will be taken out of our hands and put into the hands of far Left-appointed government bureaucrats.
Other Democrats have gleefully announced to their supporters that the public option is a Trojan horse that will drive private insurance out of business.
Obama's not on record saying he's "going for" a sing. payer system Obama:'If you're starting from scratch, then a single-payer system which disconnects health insurance from employmentwould probably make sense. But we've systems in place, and managing the transition, as well as adjusting the culture to a different system, would be difficult to pull off. We need a system that's not so disruptive that people feel like suddenly what they've known for most of their lives is thrown by the wayside."
The Medicare program is insolvent. So is Medicaid.
And the nice Democrats who want to "reform" healthcare are the same nice Democrtas who continue and expand the Bush wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. But you love these incompetent criminals.
So lets hand what the gummymint doesn't already control over in healthcare to these criminals.
And the nice Cons. that are against reform are the same con-men who wanted to invest Social Security into private accounts in the stock-market. Well that would have worked out well for anyone who reached retirement age last year when their S.S. disappeared in the crash. Funny how no one brings up that brilliant try at the corporate take-over of the U.S. when they talk about how great capitalism is!
Wow, you can see that the RepubloCons are criminals! You have a brilliant grasp of the obvious.
Now why can't you see the DemoCrooks are just as bad??? If you think these criminals will do anything but bankrupt the country and make us ALL poorer you are an idiot.
The characterization of pro-healthcare reformers as "unamerican" is ridiculous and dangerous. Our federal gov't was elected and healthcare was part of their platform. To call Americans unpatriotic for exercising their right to vote, their right to organize, their right to free speech shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the principles our country was founded on. You are confusing our economic syst. with our system of gov't - the constitution mentions nothing about capitalism
Most of the comments to this video appear to way be off the mark. I see complaints about (as you point out) people being "unamerican"; and about "union thugs", out-of-district people, and ad hominem attacks against Tim Bishop, but almost no intelligent commentary on why health reform is a bad thing.
kendemorro, I think Tim Bishop's doing a good job. This includes answering questions at Thursday night's town hall meeting.
He successfully refuted the idiots worried about things like death panels. These people who take heed to Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck about this crap are out of their minds!
I am from philly, union thug big mouths protesting on the street is nothing new, people walk on by paying them no mind. Most people just think they are a bunch of lowlife blacks begging for more money and stick the middle finger at them. I am looking forward to going back to philly where I can be more politically active.
A strike is a perfectly legal thing to do and there's certainly nothing morally wrong with threatening to do something you are legally allowed to do.
The problem with unions is that force employers to negotiate with them through violence, whether they want to or not. It used to be physical violence against 'scabs', now there are laws on the books that force employers to negotiate with unions(which if sufficiently resisted will lead to the police taking violent action against the employer).
Like has been said, it's not about Republican or Democrat. It is about what your elected official believes. Not what they "say" they believe but what they actually do. Judge them on that.
Race war is coming, thanks to Obama playing the race card. All the blacks are UNION THUGS. If they show up...SCREAM THEM OUT. Don't let them get a word in, kick their ass if you can.
Cant wait to return to Philly where I will have access to these racists pigs.
and research jmspflw on google. He believes that the President was born in Kenya and repeatedly refers to him by his middle name only. His posts here seem almost sane compared to his profane rants on other message boards. The right ought to find more credible people to do their grunt work than this bunch.
hey spurlock, nice video of the 17 year old girl dancing in her underwear in your faves (yes Reon was 17 when she shot that) I'm sure you're an upstanding member of the community.
Buses are big, yet none of you have been able to produce a single photo of one.
Matching shirts were on hand on your side too, red and they said liberty on the back, so I guess that's my evidence that you all were bused too.
A Verizon worker recently beat the shit out of a customer in New York City recently...and would you believe it? He didn't lose his job. No punishment whatsoever. That is one scum-ass union behind him.
The facts don't bear out for your theories about buses. Show me one picture of a bus arriving at Sachem East on Aug. 27. How about a picture of one in the parking lot? I'm sure if it had happened, someone would have gotten a picture of it. You can repeat a lie over and over, but it won't make it true. I will repeat the words of your hero Sarah Palin "How about you stop making things up?"
You can spout your conspiracy theories all you want (it makes you sound like nuts), the fact is you can't handle the fact that you couldn't make it look like you speak for America at this one because YOU DON'T!
Who you calling astroturf? I live in right in Farmingville, don't belong to a union, and I was in the auditorium last night. I -- and trust me, there were many others like me in the room last night -- am IN FAVOR of health care reform, including the public option. As for why, see my previous posts.
They had the cards turned in to ask questions to be randomly picked. Then, said they would announce name of questioner and could either go to podium or have moderator read question. But, somehow, when a person was picked from that crowd to ask a question, the organizers were able to pick them from the crowd to go stand in front of microphone. By the time they said their name, they were already by the podium. How did that happen?
However, just to show you that I'm not a liberal ideologue, I also believe in being able to buy health insurance policies across state lines, for even more competition. Also, like Tim Bishop, I agree with the need for tort reform. Also, I agree with the need to give breaks to small businesses, the guys who create jobs.
I also have big problems with some of the red herring arguments against reform. Like "death panels" (HR3200 provides an OPTION for end of life counseling, NOT mandatory death panels); government funded abortions, beyond the standard exceptions; coverage for illegal immigrants, which is EXPLICITLY PROHIBITED; and "a government takeover of health care". THAT (meaning doctors and hospitals) is NOT being proposed, only an OPTION for government INSURANCE. That's not the same thing!
One agent told me health insurers in NY State have an agreement to NOT sell policies to anybody who has access to insurance through his employer. Sorry, but I have a problem with that!
I was in the hall last night. I support most of Congress's proposals for health care reform, including the public option. Im not in a union.
Private insurers need competition. My motivation is that a few years ago, my son, who was working at a part-time job, was under-insured by his employer wasn't able to buy insurance privately. Reason: insurance companies refused to sell him a policy!
Many opponents of "Gov't Reform" agree reform is needed with respect to the "cost". I and many of my like-minded friends do not feel the government should be running the reform. They are truely a "not-for-profit" organization. There is a reason UPS and FEDEX charge $15 to deliver a piece of paper across the country...... THAT's HOW MUCH IT COSTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Gov't only charges $.47 to deliver the same piece of paper because IT IS STEALING THE DIFFERENCE FROM YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY "SAVINGS"!

No pics of the three busses? Why am I not surprised?
This guy makes the specious claim, Gateway repeats it, and we're off to the races, with wingnut blog after wingnut blog quoting Gateway (sorry, mouse) as proof that there were three busses full of union folks from outside the district.
Rumor-mongering at it's finest.
(But after "death panels," the American people are reading for themselves... It ain't gonna work.)
Anyone can say they used three busses to bring people in, but without anything in the way of proof, it's just words. Mouse obviously has a video camera (& I'm sure he wasn't the only one), but there's no photographic evidence... And yet, 4-5 blogs (so far) are repeating the "3 busload" claim as gospel truth (all crediting Gateway, rather than Mouse, but so it goes...)
All I'm sayin' is, don't make the claim... Prove it.
ACORN and the left has a history of bussing folks in, and paying them to be there. Thats the only way they can get them away from dancing with the retards.
Union folks were there... ...and I'm sure many of 'em were from out of the district, just like many of the tea partiers were from out of the district. I even agree with those who say that only district residents should be allowed into/to speak at the town hall meetings. As to whether they were coordinated by Bishop/the dems though, or whether there were "three busses" full of them (as alleged by mouse), is a whole other story, though. And that was my point...
I spoke my own mind, and nothing more. I'm not the one suggesting that friend or foe was there under false pretenses, or was "bussed in." Far as I'm concerned, union folks can get together and speak out just like folks from Dick Armey's crew, FreedomWorks. There's nothing wrong with getting up and speaking out. But--like some on the right--I think the reps ought to be checking residency at the door & only letting one's own constituents speak.
Nice. So a bunch of union people who aren't even this congressman's constituents get bused in and then the leader of the merry gang gets up there and lets all the people in the district know he doesn't even live there.
This is OFA's gameplan.... enter and fillibuster. I respect their right to show up and protest or support their message "outside", but the Q&A should have been reserved for constituents... and constituents only. Any rational person would agree with that. The irrational... enter and fillibuster.
Private insurers already have to compete: with one another! The Obama admin. is not so dumb as not to understand that, but they /are/ dishonest enough to ignore it.
Justinhoffma, responding to I'm sorry, public option to compete with private insurance?, Obamas NOT proposing a single payer system. Or, as Ive heard from some slippery slope mentality simpletons, a government takeover of health care.
Hes proposing a government sanctioned OPTION for health insurance. NOT a single payer, and NOT government control of health care. The providers doctors, hospitals, pharmaceutical and device manufacturers, will remain PRIVATE, just as they are today.
TruthSage1, You are lying and trying to misinform people with your posts. Obama and numerous associates of his have said on numerous occasions that he and they prefer a single payer (Government option). The misinformation and possible back doors to Socialized Medicine are obvious and TOO numerous to mention. You should know this, I'm sure you do know this, but you have the same agenda as Obama. THAT IS SOCIALIZED MEDICINE. A humongous disaster for this country.
cstcomputers, Obama's said if we're starting from scratch, he'd prefer single payer.
So what's your point? We're not starting from scratch, and Dennis Kucinich isn't president. Moreover, single payer is NOT on the table in any of the seriously considered proposals in either house.
My goal is NOT socialized medicine, but a hybrid system with public and private choices. Public and private colleges co-exist, so can options for health
insurance! Slippery slope theories are for simpletons.

Nobody should have been angered by not getting inside. I was told to get there by 4:30 if I wanted to get in, and I got there at 5:40, and I was pretty close to the door before they said it was too full inside. If you wanted to get in, you should have gotten the info and been there early.
Yeah, I actually called up and asked what time I should get there. Did you? Did anybody else who is complaining of not getting in actually call up the office and ask? Did all the people who downvoted my comment into oblivion because it doesn't fit in with their perception of reality actually call ahead?
I was waiting outside with people in union shirts and tea partiers alike. From the videos, it's obvious that many people on both sides didn't get in.
The unions bussed in early and spread out in the center seats with printed signs. They took position near the doors and most of the limited government protesters did not get in. We were told that constituents would have questions asked first. That is most of this vid.

How in the world can anything get done when we can't have civilized discussions? People shouting over one another, it's despicable. We need health care reform one way or another. Hopefully people will quiet down and actually think, discuss, and decide. People are allowing raw emotions take over instead of reasoned thought. Makes me wonder if there's any hope for this country. People shouting don't want to hear the answers. Pure greed.
When medicare doesn't have 40 trillion in unfunded liabilities we can talk about health care.
That might require Obama to actually do something other that give blank checks to the most insane and corrupt congress in history, so I won't hold my breath.
I went out yesterday and voted for Bishop to send you screaming idiots a message. Behaving like middle-aged babies is a disgrace. You're a disgrace and you lost any chance your candidate had by making people like me angry at your disgraceful behavior.

Zoklor 2 years ago
Zoklor, even with the public option, most people (except the very poor) will still be paying premiums.
There will still be competition -- the public option vs all the private insurance policies.
Also, the CBO estimates that only about 10 million people will be on the public option. That's a far cry from single payer. And, if the public option doesn't do such a great job, most people will stay with private insurance.
TruthSage1 2 years ago 2
Anticommunism is Unamericanism
daveyork0 2 years ago
allamericandude15, you have a point.
TruthSage1 2 years ago
Are you kidding me Truthsage? What do you think all the taxes in the bill are for? To pay for it. Why would they want to take a % of medicare to pay for it? ALL tax dollars. Which we do pay. The best thing the govt could do is allow for insurance policies across state lines. That way they dont have to raise taxes, and purchasing power would be in the hands of the people. When we have the purchasing power, companies HAVE to compete, lowering prices.
Zoklor 2 years ago 2
Zoklor, taxes to provide subsidies to insure lower income people. These policies can be purchased from either private companies OR the public option.
This is a TRANSITION cost. Near-term, this will allow more people to get check-ups and stay healthy. Longer term, this will prevent them from walking into emergency rooms when they're very sick, which costs big bucks in private insurance premiums & taxpayer dollars.
Also, the public option's economy of scale will eventually save money.
TruthSage1 2 years ago
Everything you are saying to support this public option was said when the government created and formed HMOs. The Same Exact Things.
What is did was drive out other insurance options and force people into HMOs.
HMOs rewarded doctors for withholding care.
Obama mentioned withholding care in his speech.
It is all the Same Words Again and it ended with People Dying because of Waits and Withheld Care!!

TruthSage1 2 years ago
yzazz, the Democrats not only caused the sub-prime mortgage meltdown (YouTube shows Republicans BEGGING for more Fannie/Freddie oversight), but they caused it ON PURPOSE.

Further, if Democrats hadn't forced banks to make bad loans, we wouldn't have had a crash.
caraclaudel 2 years ago 2
So you're balming the sub-prime mortgage debacle on the Dems? Talk about revisionist history? I haven't met a senior complaining that their S.S. checks have stopped coming, so your comment that SS is broke is a bit hyperbolic. And if you think you have a CHOICE with your current insurance, try to go outside of your paln for specialized care that costs more than what is considered "reasonable and customary" and see what happens.
yzazz 2 years ago
TruthSage1, Health care reform would be great.
Let's start by reconsidering all federal laws that limit health care choices and removing most of them from the books. There should be as few federal restrictions and regulations as possible, as politicians tend to pass laws that favor their big contributors.
In a free country, WE the citizens - not the government - should make the choices that affect our lives, and providers shouldn't be bogged down with stifling government restrictions.
caraclaudel 2 years ago 2
caraclaudel, I agree that certain regulations on health insurers should be eliminated.
TruthSage1 2 years ago
Personally, I'm against Obama's health-care plan. I have relatives in England, and they've told me about how terrible the health care system is (long lines to see a doctor, waiting months to get treatment, etc.) And Obama wants to make America's health care system just like England's, which is stupid.
But the point I want to make is that even if I were totally unbiased, it would still be easy for me to see that there is no way this health care bill will pass. There's just too much opposition.
allamericandude15 2 years ago 3
allamericandude15,
Obama's plan is NOT the same as what's in England.
This is a BIG difference.
TruthSage1 2 years ago
Yes, I know that. But even though the health plan isn't for the whole nation, it's still "socialized" just like England's. And the part that I really don't like is that it's going to cost a LOT, coming right out of our pockets.
Here's my solution (which you may find simplistic): Don't give us a whole new system, just patch up the system we already have. It'll be easier and cheaper and it won't cause so much outrage. That's just my opinion, of course.
allamericandude15 2 years ago
Once the Government is an OPTION, all others will drop there employees, and all will be with the Government, Single Payer just like Obama said a few years ago to a "Friendly" Audience
drone3333 2 years ago
drone3333, I don't believe ALL employers will drop private insurance.
TruthSage1 2 years ago
Thank You TRUTH,
You have made our point.
Healthcare is NOT a RIGHT,
Healthcare is NOT a PRIVLEDGE,
Healthcare IS A BENEFIT not to be demanded, but to be offered.
Healthcare is a product of Government interference back when Price & Wage Freezes were enacted as a way for companies to attract talented labor!!!

Only the blind can't see that he's going after health care.
caraclaudel 2 years ago 2
TruthSage1 wrote, "Obamas NOT proposing a single payer system....Hes proposing a government sanctioned OPTION for health insurance."
Obama is on the record saying he's going for single-payer: a government takeover. Our health care decisions will be taken out of our hands and put into the hands of far Left-appointed government bureaucrats.
Other Democrats have gleefully announced to their supporters that the public option is a Trojan horse that will drive private insurance out of business.
caraclaudel 2 years ago
Obama's not on record saying he's "going for" a sing. payer system Obama:'If you're starting from scratch, then a single-payer system which disconnects health insurance from employmentwould probably make sense. But we've systems in place, and managing the transition, as well as adjusting the culture to a different system, would be difficult to pull off. We need a system that's not so disruptive that people feel like suddenly what they've known for most of their lives is thrown by the wayside."

The characterization of pro-healthcare reformers as "unamerican" is ridiculous and dangerous. Our federal gov't was elected and healthcare was part of their platform. You are confusing our economic syst. with our system of gov't - the constitution mentions nothing about capitalism

TruthSage1 2 years ago 2
I also have big problems with some of the red herring arguments against reform. Like "death panels" (HR3200 provides an OPTION for end of life counseling, NOT mandatory death panels); government funded abortions, beyond the standard exceptions; coverage for illegal immigrants, which is EXPLICITLY PROHIBITED; and "a government takeover of health care". THAT (meaning doctors and hospitals) is NOT being proposed, only an OPTION for government INSURANCE. That's not the same thing!
TruthSage1 2 years ago

I can't believe the language of capitalism is being used to sell a trojan horse for the single payer plan.
These people have no shame, and deserve no respect. It's too bad Orwell wasn't around to see this.

@justinhoffma

You were TOLD, huh?
People get in to all of these townhalls if they have union shirts or the right signs. No matter how early or late they show up.
That's pretty plain by all these videos.

@tadsgirl
