There are a lot of jobs women can do in the Marine Corps. I am a proud Marine, and a female. And I fix satalite equipment.  Also later on in my enlistment after some OJT I plan on joining the lioness program which will give me the oppurtunity to go on patrols just like the grunts and search the Iraqi and Afgani women so we can respect the culture they have over there.

there are many different jobs women can have while serving in the marines or any other military branch. Most of the time it depends on what you scores on your asvab test(Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery) for a list of jobs that women can have visit Military.com there you can find most to all the questions you need. @Jazzibabe22 It's great that you want to join the military. I enlisted a year and a half ago and so far it's okay. If you know that joining is really what you want and you can give things up for it then go to your local recruiters office and ask about that military servece. there are many VALID reasons why females are not allowed in a combat mos. Not just being physically able to do the job, but other reasons too. Conflict of interests arise. Plus can females handle there female needs outside the wire for months at a time? Are their enough females out there that can humb mountains with 100+ pounds of gear on and still not be tired enough to engage in a firefight. Are there enough females out there that can fireman carry a 220 pound man with full gear?

Not officially, due to the D.O.D. and Congress. However in these wars the qualified ones are in infantry units and elsewhere. There are assigned to combat support units and then attached to combat units, it's a loophole.

Hopefully one day soon the old farts on the hill will finally acknowledge their service, dedication and abilites.

being "attached" to an infantry unit does not mean you will see "action" or clear buildings and do actual fire and movement. My unit is about to deploy and we have zero females in the battalion attached to us. The only females we will see are the females that we call in country to help us grunts search female Afghan citizens since males are not allowed to touch them.

@GRUNT0410 ...not trying to be offensive here, but there's no way I'd have a female working as part of my section/platoon, out on patrol. For one thing she wouldn't be able to handle it and another, it'd be too much of a distraction.

Yes there is a place for women in the Armed Forces but it's not at the sharp end!

@bulldogwon girls do well at most things but not combat and fighting, hence, they arn't competing against men in sports eg ufc football. royal marines allow women to try out but none have ever made it. They don't soften up the physical portion to let them slide in, or take it easy on them, so there are none.

marine women are so amazing. who cares if they are tomboy & ripped? i know a few marine women who are next to being barbie, once the uniform goes on they're a soldier. on there days off it's back to being barbie again. then again once i think about it.. i'd rather be ripped/masculine and in shape then small, flabby and unable to protect myself.
