I missed the film in the cinema when it came out, but got it on DVD and watched it last night. To be honest, I was a bit let down by it. It had FAR too much human involvement in the first half and FAR too much Transformer involvement in the second. After Ironhide's death, it was nothing but all out action and fight scenes. I did enjoy it, but as you said, it was a film with a lot of flaws.
This movie pissed me off in so many ways. Autobots dying, decepticons too, SHTILOADS of decepticons, and what seems like fewer autobots then the previous films. And Sentiel Prime..oh boy..don't get me started.
They should just revert back to where the TRANSFORMERS were just fighting on Cybertron. In the beginning of DOTM where the ship was just flying around, that shit was fucking nuts.
the thing that i think ruins the film for me is the lack of any real character in the transformers, i didnt care when ironhide died or even notice when none of them mention it after. I wouldnt have cared if bumblebee died or even optimus died again either. I kinda feel the same way as simon though, i did enjoy it in a bad movie kind of way. Also did anyone else think that it was miles too long, like an 30-45 mins could have been cut out and not lose anything?
You know, what was TRULY annoying about Bumblebee being captured in like 25 seconds is that he ends up effectively killing off the entire team that captured him....why didn't he do that in the first place?
why the hell did soundwave sound like The Claw from inspector gadget....I know its the same voice actor but still it wasnt soundwave to me it was the claw....next time bumblebee next time!!

I thought Brains redeemed himself by the end of the film. I am still kinda confused as to where he showed up from, though. I enjoyed how the smallest characters you expect the least from actually did the most. Carly and the minibots did more than Optimus did, really.

I was disappointed that shockwave was all built up being on posters and all that then not really being mentioned in the book more than 2 or 3 times. I though the book was awesome and can't wait to see the movie. Haven't seen it yet because I'm broke till Friday. Will see it ASAP :)

Errr, no; Bay's attempts to draw those parallels are fairly blatant. It doesn't exactly require a great deal of critical analysis to percieve them, since Bay has all the visual and symbolic subtlety of a sledgehammer to the face. And it's not a matter of including the imagery or the allusions that's offensive; it's the fact that Bay does so not for the purpose of commentary or deeper analysis, but purely for the sake of evoking synthetic emotion in a plot utterly devoid of it...

I had almost the same exact feelings you had about the movie. I enjoyed it but had some problems with some parts of the movie. I think Ironhide and the ending or lack of ending/ closure of the movie was probably the most I had problems with. The visuals were amazing though and I loved the CGI special effects and animation.
You slipped into Irish at 16:30, lol. And referencing Mortal Kombat......Yes.....Yes....That is EXACTLY how I feel about this film. I am going to convince somone to buy me Sentinal for my Birthday :D, So I will let you know what he is like come AA :D

Loved it.
Thought there was a bit of a plot hole in the film though, but it was better than RotF.

i agree with the human involvement, there was way to much, but i did enjoy it, but i would have liked shockwave, soundwave and megatron to have had more involvment.

I also did not see Sentinel turning on the Autobots and I was Like Ironhide nooooooooooooo but when he died he rusted what did Sentinel shhot him with. Also They didn't give a crap about Ironhides death but when Que died Bumblbee did try and grab him when Soudwave was taking him to be executed. You should of talked about Shockwave see you at AA
