I just discovered you while searching for the Song of the Mira. You are fantastic, I have seen Rita in concert and it gives me chills, this song , My Mom who passed away in 2003 July 18 was born and raised in Nova Scotia. She was big hearted like the east coasters all are.
Well sung Matt...thank you for singing Rita's good song for working people. Miners suffer the most devasting of all workplace accidents, but other workers too can be in danger without safety measures in place. Please work safe and remember all workers can leave work alive. elkoecho.blogspot.com/
of course, being a working man, this song give a lot of resonance in my life. Who wouldn't do their job well and in the end retire knowing thats what we did. But the WORKING MAN says so much more, that we sacrificed beyond the call of our duty to work. Wow, thank you Rita for recognizing this, and Matt, for singing it like Rita would luv to hear. You are both great, and all the working people are so generous in sharing their lives with the work that they do so very well.
dad used to talk bout the misty moon n halifax.. bout the big brawl he had.. with some bouncers i think maybe... and i think mat was with sam moon then
An aboulte anthem sung by the greatest of them all in tribute to the greatest of them all.God bless them, see you at the Musiplex to celebrate Mqatts 61st!!! Nasis once Nasis twice, holey jumpin Jesus Christ...
Thanks for the videos. Brings back alot of good memories.Went to my first show in the early 80's. Saw you last in Port Hawkesbury with my son on a solo gig and it was awesome. We are both big fans and hope to get to another show somewhere.
One night in Berwick Nova Scotia late 80's Matt Minglewood and his band were to play in a smallish Bar in Berwick. They showed up with a semi filled with all their equipment and almost left after seeing how small the place was. No, they set up what they could and the small community of Berwick rocked for years!!!!!

Every time I hear this song and the Miners of the Deep walk in it sends shivers down my spine. Maybe someday people will not need to do that job.

Smallish? If it's in Berwick, it's small.
Good thing Matt was a good sport.
