  • Won't squatting like that ruin your knees?

  • @johngiglia123

Do you see them ruined? Then, evidently not.

  • no, you cooled down with snow!

  • You're not human! How old are you? You put my 20 year old butt to shame!

  • Dear Mr.Kurz

in your articles you say it is impossible to do the same exercise months on end because of plateau. Yet you also say it is possible to get to 500 situps. Explain.

    Temba Simba

ps if Kurz doesnt say it i dont do it

  • @MrTembaS

See the Science of Sports Training (available from stadion.com)

  • what an incredible body. this is what I wanna reach when I'm at his age. well...attempt to reach.

  • "soon-to-be senior" citizen my ass, that was 100+ pushups and damn near 200+ squats

i lol'd when he actually said "pushups are tough for me"

  • The Great Gama LEGEND*

was probably the greatest wrestler EVER to grace this world..

He would do sets of 100 squats often for 100 sets.. WOW

Push ups (hindu style of course) 50 sets.. never found out how many reps he did.

  • Check out IZZYBARISH on his channel as he has great exercises. He's 62. Also, Roby Mitchell, M.D. is 55 & his channel is DrFittt

He had advanced prostrate cancer & treated himself. Very interesting man.

  • I've hear you comment on this problem with your shoulders on other videos aswell, what happened to them? Was it an accident, or something related to your stretching routine? I have your book stretching scientifically, and I really like it. However, much of the research you cite in it is starting to get very old, do you still endorse everything written in that book? Do you have any plans on writing a new book or making a dvd? Many questions all at once, i'm sorry, but I really like your work :)

  • “However, much of the research you cite in [your book Stretching Scientifically] is starting to get very old.”

    @Cornyabada

And what if the book cited no research? Would the method presented in it be any less effective?

On my shoulder injury read my answer to comments for "No-Sweat Workout" (October 22, 2009) at tomkurz.com.

On the research cited read "An Accurate Observation Is Never Wrong, or What a Coach Needs to Know" (September 22, 2010) at tomkurz.com.

  • He did One Hundred and Six Without Stoping What The Fuck...I cant Even Do That Maney Standard Push ups Without Stoping He Like A Fitness Guru I Would Buy His Dvd's

  • You say that because of your shoulders, pushups are hard for you. What has happened to your shoulders? An accident, or something you would contribute to your stretching regimen?

I've got a copy of your book Stretching Scientifically, and I use it and like it alot. However, it was first written in the 90s, and references physiological data and experiments from as long ago as the 70s... Do you still consider your opinions in that book correct? Do you have any plans on writing a new book?

  • “What has happened to your shoulders? An accident, or something you would contribute to your stretching regimen?”

    @TheYtcomments

No, my shoulder problems were not caused by stretching. For details read my answer to comments for No-Sweat Workout (October 22, 2009) at tomkurz.com.

On the references: Actually, in the book I listed even older references--from 1950s. Do you think that human physiology has changed since the 1950s (or 1050s)?

No plans for a new book.

  • I Cant believe he did that without shoes, after lifting weights, on top of the cold snow.

  • doess the snow help?

  • doess the snow help?

    @Salocin27

Tremendously. It keeps you cool and clean.

  • A hindu push-up doesn't repeat the same movement in "reverse", dive bombers do. But it doesn't really matter what they are...HE'S doing more of them than you, lol.

  • this dude's an animal!

  • Damn! You make it look so easy! Lol

  • look at that guys body, thats amazing for his age ect

    great job

  • This guy must be Russian

  • This guy must be Russian

    @rellik1945

Why? Are Russians the only ones to enjoy the sun?

  • Definitely adding this to my workouts! Thanks Tom!

  • @LMNOvids3

You are welcome. You can come and get free snow anytime between November and April.

  • Those are divebombers, not hindu pushups. A hindu pushup is the same movement down as it is up.

  • @hollabackitsobi

    /watch?v=9B_OHm4COlE&NR=1

at around 1:35 he explains it, unless hes wrong, kurz is wrong and ur right

  • Thomas Kurz, men like you are the ONLY reason I look forward to the next 50 years of my life and work so hard to keep my 46 year old self looking as young and fit as humanly possible! Without men like you to look forward to, there's just no point in exchanging ice cream and wine for gym time. :-) I wish you had a single twin brother!

  • @Herwickedness

Wow. I bet you are better than wine too....

  • He's from Poland. Nice. ;)

  • his hair is 50, his face is 40 and his body is 30

    deep respect for this guy

  • Nice!

    -ManTis

  • i was introduced to hindu pushups from a trainer from my gym , hes indian, been doing them for about 5 months now, , as well as those squats, you are very strong , i know how hard that is ,your technique is great, i did thai boxing for years, wish id learnt this years ago, greetings from new zealand

  • dude is a beast. i hope that i'm this strong and discipline in my later years...

  • Dude That's Not Called Hindu Push ups?? Those Are "Vin-yassas Or Chatta-rongas"(Spelled Wrong) They Have These On The P90x Work Out Plan!! Those Require Alot Of Endurance, So Hats Off Too You For Displaying What Strength&Endurance Could Lead 2....

  • The best part of the exercise is that its need you, your discipline and space enough to accomodate you, doing away with the fancy workout merchandise.

  • anyone else relieze hes doing this in snow?? talk about numb nuts...

  • Nice place, looks like Canada.

  • Once again, Thomas Kurz outdoes people half his age. And to think, he had already finished lifting weights and this was his cool down period. Most people, even very fit men in their 20's, would drop just 2 minutes into the cool down period Thomas does here. Thomas Kurz is a martial arts phenomenon!

  • @GLASSGHOSTHUNTERS i wouldnt call him a great martial artist at all, good conditioning coach though.

  • hahaha. i didnt see him do a singe hindu push up. what a clown.

  • @Melocizza That is aHindu push-up. I have been to India, and don'e them ther.e thanks. OF course, there are variations.

  • This guy is the ultimate man. Bow down fools.

  • I am a fat ass, I want to be like this...PROPS TO THE OLD MAN

  • What a gorgeous looking older man! Fantastic body! More older men should look after themselves more... and in the snow too with bare feet! Frightening! Well done!

  • whats your diet

  • Tom Kurz, thanks so much for all your hard work in providing information on workouts and fitness in general.

It's hard for me to find your books, but I have read many of your articles, and I just felt I had to thank you somehow.

    So, thanks.

  • @DaBhaalspawn

    You are very welcome.

My books and videos are available at STADIONdotCOM.

  • @ThomasKurz You had me at going outside into the snow for over five minutes to do anything that is not shoveling it, and in only shorts too!! I live in Winnipeg, Canada and find this to be incredible.

  • I bet he's incredibly strong. It's to bad mainstream push's bulky muscles over strong, flexible ones. i bet he could go a few rounds with bruce ;)

  • @JoshuaCaine77 true, people place way to much importance on visual effects, the more flexible your muscles are the more power you can draw from them, physicians and doctors that examined Muhammad Ali said he was as flexible as Marilyn Monroe.

  • It is not like your typical Hindu Pushups even though it has been classified as one. It resembles very closely to the typical half push ups.

  • That's the type of man I want to be : Fit and Filled with energy and endurance.

People don't realize the importance of breathing deeply. For one, cancer can't survive in a oxygenated environment.

For another reason, the vital force that comes with the air is very important to health.

    Great quad and deltoid endurance.

On a totally unrelated note, I bet the view from there must be frickin awesome. There's something very EMPOWERING about working out in nature, don't you agree?

    Keep training:)

  • @Puck72003

    Don't dream it--be it.

  • While it's true that this and that is important, cancer most certainly can survive in an oxygenated environment. Cancer undergoes standard aerobic respiration and therefore REQUIRES oxygen for growth.

And I have no idea what vital force means.

  • @Puck72003 hes in great shape and is fairly knowledgeable about exercise and sports training but has some ridiculous unsubstantiated ideas on nutrition, applied kinesiology and i wouldnt be taking his advice on martial arts either, but the good outweighs the bad by far.Breathing has zero to do with cancer or vital force(doesnt exist).

  • @billysue2 Rude and ignorant comment. Kurz practices what he preaches. His advice on nutrition works as can be seen from the condition of his 54 year old body. Learning about applied kinesiology from him has literally saved my health. As a martial artist he can kick better and more accurately than any other man I have seen his age. If you are in better physical shape than Kurz is when you are in your 50's post up your video here as proof that your methods work better than his.

  • in the snow

  • this guy is nuts!

    too cold

  • this is good for your girl...if you know what i mean ;)

  • you'd wanna do this many just to keep warm, hard man.

  • I hope to have a decent body like his when I'll hit his age.

OTOH, I can do a bit more hindu push-ups if I spread my legs a bit wider than shoulder-width... Hmmm...

  • go there and make a steady shot, man... he gonna kick your ass if you don't

  • This is the first time I have tried doing these and man, they are not as easy as this man makes it look, solid as f**k. Respect.

  • This guy must solid as f**k. First time doing these and man, they are not as easy as he makes it look. Respect.

  • This man is a badass, I'm sure he built that house by himself....

  • he aint even doing them properly....not at all....

  • Yes the hindu squats and pushups were developed thousands of centuries ago by the hindu sages and yogis and were part of exercise routines of indian wrestlers of yesteryears as they became famous, people from our parts learnt them and so did the poles.Originally this not a polish excercise.

  • Nothing special. It`s just polish style ;o)

  • IS THAT FKN SNOW!?!? HARDCORE!!!

  • This is something that chuck norris does.

  • @topsy420 i dont know if chuck norris does but its a pretty close aproximation

  • I'm tired and cold...after just watching those push-ups. Really impressive.

  • he didn't even seem that tired after them push ups

  • He has great muscle-endurance!

  • @bigboyburnsy Yes you are right ,these pushups are mainly done to increase endurance. The indian wrestlers of yesteryears did 1000's in one go to increase endurance, as bouts in those days would go on for days if two equal guys faced each other

  • damn thats hardcore. much respect.

  • Tom got your book you are diesel keep it up Jm

  • oh its not the real speed i see now

  • do he realy do the first exercise in this high speed?

i am beginner with this exercise i am doing 7 of it ultra slowly

  • Slow is good. Keep it up!

  • The Great Gama used to do these while wearing a 209 lb. stone ring around his neck. It's no wonder he crushed every opponent they put in front of him!

  • he was also a fatass

  • this is fake ?

  • Dzień dobry, chciałem napisać że jestem pod wrażeniem Pańskiej formy, mnóstwo osób dwudziesto kilku letnich z pewnością mogłoby Panu jej pozazdrościć :).

  • Does it look it?

And besides, what can one do about the weather?

  • Why do them in the snow?

  • To get the sunshine and the fresh air.

  • Good point. But isn't it a little cold?

  • damn, u are so fit even at this age !!

Nice inspirational !! thanks alot for all your great no-nonsense books/videos/articles :)

  • Amazing! I got tired just watching--makes me want to eat a box of chocolate donuts and lay on the couch ;)

Interesting scenary. Can you tell us where that is? Sort of looks like eastern Canada, to me.

  • Vermont, specifically the Northeast Kingdom.

  • You are again, Mr "Soon to be Senior Citizen" (LOL) Kurz, INSPIRATIONAL! Onward! And may God Bless you and your Loved Ones ALL-ways! - DrC (Knoxville, TN)

PS - Yes, he is btw, "THE Splits Guy" ;-)

  • you're absolutely crazy facka! :)

I really enjoy your no BS approach to exercise, which you've presented in other materials I watched/bought in the past!

    Really quality!

    Powodzenia,

  • Dziekuje, i nawzajem ...

  • Hey are you the splits guy? The guy who wrote that book the science of stretching?

  • Awesome work man. Whats wrong with your shoulders?

  • My right shoulder has some parts missing because of an old injury.

  • Szejtan a nie Lach :)

  • Wow, this would be a workout in itself for me. (and I'm 29!).

I will be putting some of these at the end of my strength workout today - maybe not 100/200 though.

  • Man, right out in the snow... watching your videos is going to make a lot of people feel guilty about their complaining!

    Great stuff, as always.
