I was lot more influenced by The Last Am. Virgins storyline than American Pie's. Like you said, yeah there was sex, but the storyline - 2 best friends, both fighting for a girl one who's a virgin and who would do anything for her and the other who tosses her out when she gets pregnant and she goes back to him after the nice guy nurses her back to health. It was an ending that many movies wouldn't dare to have, imagine seeing it at the cinema in its day! It would've been a stir. It was a classic.
I just saw The Last American Virgin for the first time which is unusual because i grew up during the 80's. I found out about it because i was looking to see what other movies Diane Franklin was in and that movie popped up. Anyways, i thought the movie was very cool, especially hearing bands like The Cars in there. Very funny and good teen drama, my only complaint being the ending which was such a let down, but i guess not every ending can be a happy one. I give it 4 out of 5.

Dude THREE O'CLOCK HIGH should have been known. Its Freaking Stupid that this movie rarely gives it in Tv stations. I couldnt find the movie anywere. I had to order it. People Please make your money's worth and Order it PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
the movie could have and should have ended at the end of the vacation - not really sure what the director was trying to say or prove other than making the character of Karen shallow & dim-witted, as if it were to reflect on all women. It was an uncomfortable gotcha that leaves you feeling like you got sucker punched - anyone else get that from this ending?
LAV is a great movie, simplistic but real. I can offer no explanation for the ending however. Not to ruin it all I will saw for those that have seen it is that Karen should NOT have kissed Gary if she wasn't interested in him - a lot of criticism has gone against the guy in this film for "buying" her affections - I didnt see it that way at all - when Gary professes his feelings - she should have set him straight immediately NOT lead him on like that - other than the ending - a 5 star film.
