Well, Russ Ballard is in fact one of the greatest composers of rock classics! Sorry for all Americans: New York Groove was a smash hit in all Europe at the end of 1975 by Hello - especially in Germany where Hello toured together with Smokie. Ace's version absolutely failed in Europe.
well he wrote all those songs Alan, includiing "So You Win Again"...did you ever hear "New Yourk Groove"? I haven't heard anyone else except Russ's but I now think I would like to hear Hello's version:)
@BeauTokyo erm... How come me and all my friends knew the song way back in 1974 if it wasn't famous already? Okay, it may not have been famous in the USA, but it most certainly was in the UK and Europe. America isn't the whole world you know. Get your head out of your arse.
@Dyynamo Unbelievable.......why do you make up stuff and then drag all your innocent friends into it too? In Ace Frehleys archives, (look it up) the author tells the story of how Ace got the song from Russ at a party on a cassette tape. I'd tell you how those times were in the business back then but....... you'll make up something....totally believe it.....claim it was yours and all your friends will back you up. My head is out of my arse......put yours back
@BeauTokyo Check out New York Groove on Wikipedia and then tell me I'm wrong. Either that or tell them that they are wrong. You could also inform the Guinness book of British hit singles that they are wrong as well. Also, inform Youtube that the video's entitled New York Groove - Hello - 1975 can't exist seeing as the song wasn't introduced to the world until 1978 by Ace Frehley.
If your going to argue about stuff like this, at least attempt to get your facts right in the first place.
