Brian, super video. Question? Is Pro Tools 7 software as good as PT 9 when it comes to voice quality? Restated, can I get the same quality sound out of v7 as v9, with all internal settings being equal?
@revealer007 Brian, specifically, The M-Audio Pro Tools M-Powered 7.1. Does v9 have the ability to create even better voice quality, or does it just have more features, bells and whistles for mixing multiple tracks?
Thank you for this video,it is very informative and I hope I can use it to my advantage when I am able to buy the equipment for the fact that I'm aiming for a job as an anime voice actor [:
Hey Apoktite, that question can be answered with a question, how does it sound? I encourage students to really have a mic "shoot out" before they buy, especially when it comes to USB mics. Because you are no longer dealing with an actual audio signal, you can't even run it through a god pre-amp to warm it up. But on the flip side, it all depends on the sound source (your voice), the environment and it's applications. Again, at the end of the day... how does it sound? Hope this helps!
@Apoktite USB mics are fine, but they tend to lag a bit. The Samson CO1U is a good choice, and Blue makes a couple of great ones (I recommend the Snowball). I haven't tried the MXL 990, but the reviews seem rather favorable.

thanks for the tutorial. My laptop has Realtek sound card that came with it. Do I need an external sound card along the Mbox or the sound card in the laptop would do it? I need to create a decent quality voiceover.
Thank you so much for posting this valuable information. I have taken notes and I feel confident that I will be earning good money performing voice overs from my home. Again, thank you. I'm very excited.
what about preamps? What do you use with something like a Neumann TLM-103?

Hi sir, first of all thanks for putting this info out there. Why is a dynamic microphone not adequate for home recording? Thank you.
