  • Can anyone tell me which album this is from?

  • wow what a kiss.

  • Love this song, one of their best!

  • coooowal

  • looks like sarah walker at 1:28

  • This song is freaking amazing. It's just... the best. I loved the video too.

  • really beautiful

  • daniel brou?

  • Does video this remind anyone else of the page master?

  • Heard it on Chuck - Episode 2 of 1st season!

  • @159Diablo chucks awesome so is this song

  • fucking love this song

  • Yeah, it DOES sound like a Target commercial. =-(

  • 2:05 when they are doing that nanana its like a orgasm

  • i love this vid ><

    -paige <3

  • This is so touching! I am going to go make friends with the weird guy down at the mini-mart!

  • i guess i don't get the music scene anymore... i don't understand all the acclaim for this genre. sounds like a target commercial.

  • I don't want to guess what genre you prefer, yesjakeyes.

Is it the banjo or the multisyllabic lyrics that you don't like?

  • @yesjakeyes FYI Not all music is appealing at first. You may not yet understand the music because it is unusual to you. I hold The New Pornographers in high regard because their songs make me feel happier and they reduce stress, Something that lacks in many bands today. Also, I find they have higher replayability than any other band I've heard. No matter how much I get tired of their music I can come back a week later and hear magic all over again, It has never failed!

  • great song

  • hardly heard the song because of the wierd paint surrealism.

  • Neko Case is really pretty in this video

  • They got slimed...Ha ha

  • Muy buena cancion. Very good song. Parece que dice "hola, hola, hola, hola"

  • :) hola hola hola Es preciosa, qué ganas de verlos en el PS!

  • I absolutely think that this is one of the best music videos ever made!

  • uh okay this is basically a fucking gorgeous video.

  • What's weird is the way how you're thinking "OK, so there's only three of the band appearing in this video, I can deal with that" and then it looks like one of the girls turns into a guy.

  • I heard this song in a dream...it was..weird.

  • it happened to me 2, in the night i had this music in my head, yes it is weird...i even remember the name of the band, even thou i listen it for the 2nd time.

  • lol

    banjo

  • Neco case is my heroin

  • i love this.

    it make my soul sing

  • This is such a beautiful song....

It makes my heart ache, like Elliot Smith's "Twilight".....

  • that guy has extremely kissable lips!

  • yeah

  • yeah i guess it would be odd saying that if i was a guy then... haha

  • My favorites? Well I like all four albums but some of my favorites are All the Things That Go to Make Heaven And Earth, Failsafe (The live version from the Challengers Executive Edition in particular) The Electric Version, The End of Medicine, Testament to Youth In Verse, Letter From An Occupant, The Bleeding Heart Show and Sing Me Spanish Techno. I like all of their albums, I haven't listened to the B sides disc of the Executive Edition much yet, though. And I don't have all of their songs yet.

  • "wander the West Village in flames" great lyric.

  • Man, this video's beautiful

  • Best song ever...leave it there :)

  • Great song, great video. One of my favorites. =)

  • ditto

  • When I first heard this song it made me think of comic books characters. Turns out "Challengers of the Unknown" is a group of comic book characters created by Jack Kirby. I doubt that's what the lyrics refer to, but I guess my mind made a subconscious connection. :P Haha, just thought I'd share.

    Great and original video, btw.

  • Beautiful O+

  • Wow. This song is what an Enya/Fleetwood Mac crossover would sound like, if it worked like this song does.

  • I have just discovered these guys. I am addicted to this song for some reason!

  • this video is really really cool!! the song is pretty good too

  • the video is awesome!

    definitely no 1!!!

  • What is the deal with this person? Out of boredom/curiosity I googled those names she keeps spewing nonsensically, and couldn't figure a damn thing out!

To be fair though, she had a surprisingly decent analysis of the song/video.

  • Sorry, that was supposed to be under the comments of the wacky spammer Oracle12340 who was writing about Joanna and Daniel and all that stuff...

  • No sweat....you're entitled to your opinion.....even if it's wrong. :)

  • You didn't have to say it in the first place. And why saying it here...

  • I've never heard the New Pornographers before now. I love them! What's your favorite song by them? If it is this song, what is your 2nd fav?

  • Letter from an Occupant

  • "Sing Me Spanish Techno". Great tune.

  • Favorite: a tie between The Bleeding Heart Show and These Are The Fables (also sung by Neko), both on the CD Twin Cinema (which is the CD I play the most often).

  • Chuck!!

  • This song is absolutely stunning...one of my favorites. So I'm disappointed to find this video so distracting. I don't even hear the music. All I see is the director's gratuitous attempt at showcasing his obsession with "digital color technology."

Neko drinking the bright pink icee is the dead give away for his lameness.

  • Fair Enough. I appreciate that break down. But I still dont like the video. Maybe you should have directed it instead. :)

    Just my own opinion...

  • me sa che questi so dei porco di matuenna

  • Seven out of eight members of The New Pornographers all have even more discography tied to their names. Danny Bejar alone has appeared on 14 albums not counting anything by The New Pornographers, And he is in two other bands - Destroyer and Swan Lake, The latter has members from another band with yet another six albums... I think my wallet is REALLY going to be hurting this year!

  • Fantastic song. I love Neko's voice. I could listen to her sing a car commercial and still drift away in bliss.

  • Hey! Dis was on Chuck too.

  • I've got chills!

  • The section from 2:26 on is so beautiful. Musically and visually.

  • what a lovely video to accompany a lovely song

  • Nice song but I don't see what's so lovely about the video though.

  • Who is the guy in the video? He is inordinately sexy - the look he gives the woman is lovely.

  • great song, she has such a good voice

  • Very Good!!!!!

    :D

  • you mean the greatest song u ever heard?

  • Comment removed

  • BRAVO!!!!!

  • I've been see it one hundred times... Neko looks gorgeous with that nice hairstyle...whatever... Neko is always Neko. simply great.

  • wait.....what just happned??

Thats a pretty cool video but when they're lips start dripping stuff thats kinda scary....

  • ..i saw her standing there :)

  • wow. that was intensely wierd. cant decide if i love it or hate it....

  • don't usually like this band but this songs not bad. but the dark haired girl in the middle is in a band called immaculate machine, for me at least they're better.

  • @zeromine123 Eh. "High on Jackson Hill" was disapointing. I found out about New POrnographers via Immac Machine too, and It took about a year to really get into them. Since then though, I do think NP is a better band, and Immac Machine's best feature, Kathryn, is kind of put, unjustly, into the backseat of both groups. (although to be fair, I suppose, she is a junior member of NP...)

  • me too

  • Me too :-)

  • Great song, love her voice, neat concept for a video, the images are amazing, awesome kiss. 5 stars

  • love this video

  • I agree with you Richard.

  • Is that Sam Tyndall from The Kiss Off? I listen to this song almost everyday.

  • the guy looks strangely alienated at the end of the kiss. :S

  • I thought she looked familiar too!

  • looks like kathryn calder(the keyboardist) with a wig

  • Beautiful song, strange video. I love Neko's voice, and the banjo is so nice, and the harmonies are exquisite. Why can't all their songs be this good?

  • yeah it stinks that this is the only one thats good

strange is god (y) nekos voice is beautifullll

  • You're a moron

  • O.K. Mr. Pantyhose.

  • You got me, dildo. I guess that makes it okay for you to keep going on youtube and offering up peurile judgments and asinine stereotypes. What kind of shitty music do you listen to, and what "demographic" is it made for? Apparently you're the one to ask about what's cool and what's lame. Teach me, you fucking halfwit.

  • Very beautiful singing.

  • I heard the song at the tv show "Chuck" for the first time and fell in love with it.

  • I brought the album about a week before it was shown on chuck and i just had a mental block for hours trying to figure who sung it, then listening to it in maths it hit me and i yelled out, teacher was not too impressed

  • This is an awesome video. What an excellent sounding band, the vocals are rich, sweet! The images in this video, blow me away. 5 stars and a fav.

  • i really like this video

  • it pisses me off how closed minded the top 20 people are to not even look at stuff like this. i guarentee if the top 20 people put this song on there it'll be an instant hit

  • what the fuck is this video about though?

  • I believe it's about how two peoples lives are like, black and white, very simple, and kind of meaningless until they meet each other. And then when they do, everything becomes more vibrant, has colors... kind of like how some people would describe love, in a relatively cheesy way. I don't understand the gooey paint splatters, however.

  • also, it's about an affair

  • great video, though the only thing I can think of for the bleeding colors is that

    A) love is messy (metaphorically and physically)

    B) it is to represent Neko Case's tears about how she feels for the guy and wishes she was there(which could also explain why her drink was originally the only thing that had color)

  • love this song been stuck in my head for about a week since I first heard it but Im still in love with it

  • Oh, that red hair!!! Neko, you are my dream girl!

Red hair, Progressive politics, angel's voice, talent galore, and an "indie heart"!

Tell me, what more could you want?

  • Most productive and consistently great "indie supergroup" since Broken Social Scene. Love these guys.

  • I heart Neko!

In other news, banjos are awesome!

  • i know this song well great song anyone watch chuck its from one of the spisodes

  • what an aesthetically pleasing video. Go Niko!

  • awesome! nice song!

  • need some new songs to jam to? come check out my channel for some musical variation thats sure to compliment your likes =)

  • Holy hell, this is easily the most beautifully melancholy song Ive heard in a long time. It's great, so much passion!

  • I definitely have a crush on the guy on the couch ^_^ haha. Love this song

  • The Album is of the same title - Challengers. The CD also has Myriad Harbor on it which is also a great song!

  • Awesome song. One of my favorite videos of theirs too.

  • Don't know if I like the message, but it's a pretty song

  • so addicting..........

  • agreed

  • Neko looks like Sarah Michelle Gellar on Scooby Doo, in this video

  • Neko is without question the Queen of the Geeks. Gotta love her!

  • I do like her

  • If you check out more music videos by The New Pornographers, You'll find they all have something in common. Something beautiful, something you may not recognize at first. The word to describe it has only three letters in it and starts with the first letter in the alphabet.

  • the word's probably "art", isn't it?

  • Yes, It is Art.

  • Or awe!

  • geez, people take themselves so seriously 'round these musical parts. =p

  • love this band! i have 2 of their CD's

    Challengers and Mass Romantic

  • "Twin Cinema" is a great, great album. Get it! :)

  • So NERD STYLE

    I LOVE IT!

  • Damn I love the tune of this song

  • The pink goo coming out of their hands was perfect.

  • This was one of the songs that I didn't like upon first listening to the album...can't say that now...everything about this song is awesome!

  • beautiful voice. great band. great song. silly video

  • neko case has such a pretty voice

  • I love Neko, this is great.

  • This song gets me choked up. I wanted to buy this CD on Sunday but I was a dollar short. So I got Mass Romantic instead.

  • That's unfortunate. But talk about making the best of a situation. You trade one superb album for another superb album.

  • I love the nostalgic feeling of this video. Of course the best part is the song. This is one of my favorites from them.

  • Yeah, I really like this tune and this video. I also enjoyed reading everyone's comments too!

  • Love the song. The video's pretty keen, too, even if I feel like I need a shower after watching it.

  • Beautiful.

  • still the best song ever.

  • great song, great video...five stars

  • she reminds me of ann margret

  • This video reminds me of the feelings I had for a girl in high school. At one point, I felt as though we were so close we could have been together forever. Then there was nothing. She was gone forever.

  • I feel that. I think youtube is at its best when people who know nothing else about eachother can share things. Thanks.

  • There's been a lot of great music coming out of Canada recently.

  • My favorite Neko song! Best song of the year!

  • i love how she is drinking a drink on set.

    it seems so last minute.

neko: im not done with this, so.

    everyone else: whatever.

    haha.

  • yeah Neko is like "i'm thirsty, so let's make it part of the video".

  • hells yeah! neko is playing downtown slc tonight!

  • One of the better songs i've heard latley

  • did this video kind of gross anyone else out? i love this song.
