I can't understand why everybody's lovin' Tate's part, in this song his voice is terrible (even if he has done great things). You can't compare his voice here with Dio's one or Halford's one... Anyway, a fucking good song, it's sad to see that nowadays, songs like this one have disappeared.. (And I ain't talking about nowadays singers...)
@sobeto28 No no I ain't deaf^^ But his voice does not suit for this song I think , it is better in QR. His tone is not Dio's one. But, Dio couln't sing QR's stuff. keep on rockin'
@briantheblade44 Oh,yeah, his voice definitively doesn't fit the song, but hey, there are some horrible, and when i say horrible i really mean HORRIBLE singers in this song,so all coll.
@sobeto28 Who is horrible for you? Because I didn't hear so horrible singers^^, just special voices (or very special for Paul Shortino for my opinion)
why da fyck do you think dio did that?Raise money for ok...ok...but the main thing was,to see who would be the guy to pass the torch, and geoff tate got the title
*excluding halford, because he was already a star since the 70´s
6:40 - Geez! Lynch with his belly shirt. It embarrassed me THEN and it embarrasses me NOW. All those guys from DOE-Ken are such numbnuts, including Donathan.
Did anybody notice that at of all the crazy ass guitarists Neil Schon played the best solo LOL Neil Schon blew all of them away thats like getting beat up by a girl but in all seriousness Neil Schon can shred when he wants to
@PijnigeR I love Geoff´s voice but this song is not sitting in a perfect range for him. He´s voice is lower then Dio´s so Geoff has to sing let´s say a G4 or A4 in a headier cordination which make´s the voice sound less full then Ronnie´s , but instead he has an easier access to notes around and above C5. You can listen to Bruce Dickinson and Michael Kiske and hear that kiske sings all notes above F#4 headier then Bruce but also has a much easier time around and above C5.
@Bjoerrelli Perhaps, perhaps. But everybody in the comments is loving the crap out of him in this song. But I don't. Maybe it's because I hate the music his own band makes normally. I don't know:)
@PijnigeR I like their early stuff up until Empire. But I can understand that if you like a less complex kind of music and perhaps a more straight a head rock´n roll approach to playing and singing then Queensryche simply ain´t your cup of tea.
@Bjoerrelli That's not entirely the case. I"m a big fan of Judas priest and W.A.S.P. for example. Their music is more rock 'n roll. That's true but it isn't less complex IMO.
@Bjoerrelli Jesus, that's called hitting the nail on the head. This song, IMO, isn't best suited for Tate's voice. Neue Regel (Queensryche) is the best vocal performance in the history of metal, and I would challenge anyone in this collection of artists to match it.
This thing is awsome. I have it in VHS :D BTW, on my forthcoming album I composed one song which is kind of wink to this. Man I love the freaky hilarious 80's clothes and huge hair. Dio and Tate. GREAT vocals. Hey, the Quiet Riot dude did a great job! I hated that band but he rocked this song! Rob Halford... I could listen to him all day. This was really really fun to watch. Thanks!

Hey, you've listed some very good performances here. I agree with most except the inclusion of Blackie and Bach. Dio, Tate and Coverdale are my favorite rock singers.
Neue Regel is indeed thee best metal vocal performance of all time. The note he hits at the end is enough to kill the entire list. Resurrection is good singing by Halford, but not exactly his best. Give me Blood Red Skies by Halford anyday. I listened to "kill your pretty face" by WASP, and have to agree, it's awesome. His voice is an acquired taste, but that song is good. I hate to admit Skid Row's "I'll remember you" belongs there, but it does. Back is a shithead but great singer.
Maniketti got it right the first time, wow. The guy's got a woman's voice. He hits those notes and only those notes, his entire career. Tate has deep, powerful range beyond most of the singers in this roster. It may not be a competition, but it's cool to hear them side by side. The song was geared for voices just like Maniketti's. Tate was out of his element, is all.
Wrong, that's because Ronnie James didn't think Geoff's first takes were good enough. The only 2 who got it right the first time were Dave Meniketti, and Kevin Dubrow...

"You Don't Remember, I'll Never Forget" was sung by Mark Boals, not JSS.
I would pick "Eyes of a Stranger" for Tate.
Good list though!

Great musicians but Tate is the best. ;)

Sorry Tate isn't the best, Meniketti is :D

Well, you have your opinion and I have mine. ;)
Sayonara69 2 years ago
True but Geoff needed more than one take to get his parts right.. Dave got em right the first time :)
samhain1967 2 years ago
That's because Geoff believe in perfection. LOL!
Sayonara69 2 years ago
Wrong, that's because Ronnie James didn't think Geoff's first takes were good enough. The only 2 who got it right the first time were Dave Meniketti, and Kevin Dubrow...

How do you know? Did you talk to Dio personally?

And Halford!

I'm sorry, how can one name all the songs when it's only one song? Are you confused?
Sayonara69 2 years ago
