Great song mate. And you play the guitar and sing very nice. But there's only one version i love most and i've heard it only one time in tv show. Seems like that's the only version i'll ever love and sing.
Loved your version of Early One Morning; best one yet! One of my all-time favourite songs from my childhood. Was the opening song on a children's television show called "The Friendly Giant" with Bob Homme. Your version sounds just like the one from the show, only with a guitar instead of harp and flute. Now I have the words to the song as well so I can sing along; weren't any lyrics with the original tv show. Thanks for this beautifull gift of music, you've really made my day! Lorna Stubbs.
Early one morning was the opening song for a childhood show The Friendly Giant. It was played on recorder and harp (look up The Friendly Giant on youtube and give it a listen) Every Canadian born between 1958-1984 holds this song in some dear part of thier heart. I very much appreciate the lyrics and chords in the inset. Very well done...
Ah that was NICE!! man!! Ive been looking for a good version of this song and here i finally found one i wasnt cringing at! And its on guitar!! Nice work man!
@wightroutemaster Thank you Dave, I tend to be a bit self critical and refer to the final chorus where I nearly slipped up using the word you before decieve.
my name is jonathan smith i think that you are very talented Its a really sad song everytime i hear it it brings a tear to my eye VERY GOOD INDEED COMMENT BACK????
@candymonsterist Thank you Jonathan for your kind comment. I am particularly pleased to get such a comment from one of a younger generation than myself.
This song for personal reasons I hold very dear to my heart (brought back memories from at least 25 yrs ago).............you have a lovely souful voice that does this song true justice. Everything about it touched my heart . Thank you for letting me listen and keep sharing your talents................
@ems2225 Thank you for your kind comment Ems. It always makes me particularly happy to know that I have been able to bring fond memories to someone. I hope to do so for as long as I am able.
I love British Isles folk music from the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries. Thanks for posting your very nice performance of "Early One Morning", one of the most beautiful of the English folk songs.l
Dear Sir: Terrific!...I have had that melody playing in my head now since about 1974 ;and It never really occured to me that the melody had words. The Friendly Giant introduced me to this tune when I was very young. The rooster puppet played the harp (Rusty)...and the Giraffe (Gerome) had his head in the window....
That really takes me back to an innocent age for me ;so thank you ,and God bless.
@MrPhrixus Having had heart bypass surgery nearly 18 years ago, every day is a bonus and having some small talent I try to share happiness with all who wish to listen to me. Thanks for your message.
As the saying goes: 'no pain, no gain'. I gave up playing for a few years some time ago and lost the calluses so had to reacquire them. It is worth it.

Tony. Really nice! Played just as I imagine it was originally sung when first composed. What slight mistake near the end? Doesn't detract one bit.

That was sweet, Tony. The little instrumental breaks between verses were nice., too. ...Bill

I quite often include such breaks to allow me to get my breath ready for the next verse. lol

I am afraid it might take some time of continuous exercise until my finger use the strings properly again...
But you are a fine example. Thank you.
