  • 1:12 HOLY giant bells what are those? like c to g 1s??

  • this is the best version of The Flight of the Bumblebee that I have ever heard! Great job!

  • @lovebrenda75 not flight of bumble bee

  • @createsjg actually on my screen there is one by the raleigh ringers

  • The name of the piece is Sabre Dance for those who are interested in the name..

  • I invite you to discover The Raleigh Ringers (I think one of the world's premier bell choirs). Google away!!!

  • That was outta sight! Excellent...I expected to see someone spinning plates on tall poles in time to the music!

  • I played handbells in elementary and jr high school back in the late eighties and early 90's. We went on to playing at State in Jacksonville,Florida. We won first place!!!! I remember the songs very well that we played.....Martellato Madness and Spectrum!! Look them up on youtube. I remember every not I played still til this day. I've never seen those big huge bells before. Didn't know they existed. I miss playing so bad!!!

  • and 10 years later they finally start.

  • They should be on Americas got Talent or something. Ive seen tons of handbell choirs and Ive enjoyed this one the most. They have a bit more character than most other bell choirs

  • whao... never seen those big of bells before, and ive seen a lot of handbells

  • LOVE THIS! its great, i might actually join a bell choir here soon, probably will not sound anything like this though.

  • Sound like "Breakfast Machine" by Danny Elfman. It's from Pee Wee's Big Adventure :)

  • That was AWESOME!

  • fun. i would see this group anyday

  • i would love to see these guys do Carol of the Bells, they are AWESOME!

  • I wish my bell choir was like this.

It kind of sounds like The Simpsons

  • Are those oil drums? I've never seen those before and I'm no stranger to musical instruments! PDQ Bach, Blue Man Group, etc.

  • almost makes me wish i wasn't in a bell choir that is made up of 9 old women and only 2 of them can read music.

    oh wait...

  • Mallmarks, i believe.

  • What kind of bells are those? They're definitely not White Chapels, I know that. Are they Mallmark? Shulmerich? I've played all three types and I've played the big bells down to a G3, I believe, and I don't recall seeing any bells that large. Also the tone sounds slightly different (weird) to what I'm used to playing, especially the high bells sound different. I usually play a 4-in-hand with G6-C7 plus accidentals.

  • @chrissyjoy08 A2-A#2-B2-A3-A#3 for me and i had to carry them we didnt have tables to play on WHAT NOW! lol jk After G2 they make the bell out of Aluminum i belive instead of brass for weight purposes.

  • @chrissyjoy08

    Whitechapel, not White Chapel....

  • WOW This Was AMAZING !!! I Wanna Be This Good When Im Older ! Hopefully Highschool Has Handbells :) I've Been Taking Handbells For 3 Yrs :D And Im Lovin It <3

  • What fun this must have been in person!

  • I can never understand bell choirs that use the aluminum bass bells. the regulars sounds better and aren't that hard to play even though they have a bit of weight to them

  • We tried this and didn't sound nearly as good...it was difficult.Great job

    here.

  • The Wesley bell choir slays these guys!!!! those big bells are pretty much cheating and they sound horrible!!!!

  • i bet with practice the lindsey bell choir at my church could do this

  • Landon Bells runs train on this handbell choir.

  • Wow they are great, very good technics... but I absolutely don´t like the song itself,

  • pretty cool but girard bell choir is better

  • wow yoo are so good! i played handbells for years but the group got disbanded as ppl left skool and not enogh of the younger ones took an interest *cries* its noce to see that it is clearly very popular in places :D

  • professional? does that mean they got paid? they are pretty good though :)

  • That is as cool as hell. Talk about big balls...er...bells! I played bells, xylo, glockenspiel in HS band...LOVE handbells. They look like they were having MUCH fun. It's also the Areo, the Acrobat game theme on the old sega 32 bit game system back in the day...

  • sabre dance. i played this in orchestra once. this video's great!

  • This is the Sabre Dance by Katchaturian.

  • @dafoosballer I remember this being played on the pee-wee herman movie. creepy childhood memories.

  • Sorry...not flight of the bumblebee. Flight of the bumble bee is more of a badaladaladaladala badaladaladaladala badaladala badaladala badaladaladaladala.

This fits the badaladadadadadalada badaladadadadadalada badaladada badaladada badabadaba...BAAAAAAAAHHhhhhhhh pattern. This onw is commonly refered to as "that circus song"

  • @DylanTheDespot

I never did understand why someone would try to write "humming" out on this. All we see are words. With no sounds, or rhythm, it's a lot of nonsense words.

  • @DylanTheDespot 'The Circus Song', 'The Flight of the Bumble Bee'? Melody recognition FAIL.

  • @DylanTheDespot hahaha i completely understood the difference between badalaladladlaaladada and badaldadladadada hahahaha :)

  • flight of the bumble bee...NICE!

  • what's the name of the song?

    ANd Very Good Job Folks!!!

  • Its 'Sabre Dance' sort of.

  • i cant imagine how expensive those large bells are

  • So fun and fanciful! LOVE IT!

  • amazing!!!!! wow..

  • the Biggest silver one for JUST ONE of cost FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS

  • damn. my bass clarinet cost that much and i can play a whole range of note on it, not just one

  • This is the Bells of the Sound newest encore piece. it has something about Cowboys in the title. they are really fun. i heard them play on May 2, 2009 at my church First United Methodist of Tacoma Washington

  • I just went to she this group Bells Of the Sound in concert at my church and i am in a bell choir at my church. we had so much fun talking to them after the show.

  • Looks like they're having a lot of fun.!

  • That was awesome.

  • Very impressive, Where are the handbells from? I make them at the whitechapel bell foundry. Im glad they are being used for things like this.

  • They are Malmark bells, which are made in Pennsylvania, USA. The big ones are aluminum (with the fuzzy white clapper heads.), that's why they're so big. The bronze equivalents are not that large. The rest of set have black or white handles, which is Malmark's way. There is another company in the USA (Schulmerich) which are actually made not far from Malmark. Both companies have websites.

  • lol, whitechapel.

  • We played this song!

  • great music! great animation! well done!!

  • cool! i never saw bells that big before... i play handbells and they arent that big! lol

    wow! love all the energy!

  • me too! lol! they're huge!

  • that looks like fun

  • Never seen bells that HUGE before!! :p

  • lol that was sooooo awesome!!!! at band camp, i was in the handbell choir and we goofed around, but not THIS much! that was awesome - you guys rock!

  • Obviously you have absolutely NO sense of humor and NO sense of music.

    Bravo to this bell choir!

  • Wow...! I'm impressed!

  • yeah that's easy they are allllll malmarks including the aluminum....this group looks like they go down to a c2!

  • The lowest bell is a G1.

  • Sabre Dance Level 5.

  • awesome

  • I play in a hand bell choir. This version made me laugh and cry with joy!! THANKYOU!!

  • me 2 i was in a handbell choir in 7th and 8th grade and i would be in it now but the high school doesnt offer it but anyway ive neve seen bells this big or a handbell choir this funny lololololololololol

  • Well. That was. Epic, to say the least.

  • MOST TRIUMPHANT

  • i am in utter jaw dropping awe of htis kind of musical talent.

  • ditto... wow...

  • What kind of bells are you ringing? I've never played handbells before, but I have a lot of experience repairing and refurbishing them. This sounds great, btw!

  • I saw a few White handles in there, the only brand to use those is Malmark.

  • Good point! I was pretty confident that they were American bells because of the shape of the casting. I wasn't 100% sure until you pointed out the white handles. Good call.

  • oh my goodness.

i absolutely love handbells and this is an amazing performance! and having so much fun too!

  • i love handbell choirs and miss being in one! this was outstanding I have never seen anything like this. I had to watch twice! talented and funny!

  • wow!!!! they took what was probably a very challenging song and had a lot fun with it. i was impressed they were able to look away from their music and yet stay on the beat together. it shows they know the music very well. just.. wow! it was really good!

  • To 'TheNameIsAxxeline" - Yes! Animation! Too many times we ringers get stuck staring and frowning at the printed page and forget we are performers. This one was nothing short of superb!

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG!

This is awesome! How do they do it sooo fast!

    WOW!

  • Very fun! Now I want my group to play that song since it's stuck in my head!

  • we really suck compared to them

  • FANTASTIC! Being a hand bell player myself, I know how much work went into making this the fun video it is. Such talent! I love how much fun they had. This is one of my favorites!

  • wow!!

    this performance was great!!

and it's also my first time to see the HUGE bells~ nice that I could have a peek into the huge bells in the video~ hope I could have the chance to see the real bells~ haha

  • Anyone who hasnt played handbells before needs to try it sometime. It truely is a blast. I've been playing for just over four years now, and I dont every want to quit!

  • Awesome.

  • I really want the full second and first octave! Now I don't know, but it seems that the aluminum bells are only the second octave. Still, I'm taking this to my director. This is outstanding! lol

  • This made me want to ring again...

It's unfortunate that most choirs aren't as fun or animated as this. (:

  • omgz!

  • Wow! Talk about getting into the music! That was great, they looked like they were really enjoying it! I like the guy at 2:55...cracks me up every time!

  • That is so cool!

  • that is AMAZING....look at them dance hahAHAHAHAH OMG those bells are HUGE.i just came back from a concert we do every year and we play bells

  • I LOVE BELL CHOIRS!!! I'm in a youth choir in Idaho, and well, these people don't look goofy, they look like we do! The youth in our group are anywhere from 8 to 15.....

are they doing the shelly ring?

  • yeah, they're doing shelly and 4-in-hand too. it's so awesome to see people joining choirs at a young age. Keep up the good work...hopefully we'll have more videos posted in the future. Since you're in ID, you may be able to come to the Area X Festival in 2008 in Yakima. That would be cool :-)

  • Yeah! four in hand? What's that?

  • you rotate the bells so the clappers face different directions so that you can ring them each independently or ring them together.

  • Cool~I'll have to try that sometime.

haha, I went to a methodist bell choir recently, and they were great! They had these HUGE chimes, and they were really funny! haha

I just mentioned that because you guys look like you're having fun.

  • WONDERFUL to see this. I was involved in the national bell chior convention (in Florida) WAY back in 1984 and this was one of the selections that the advanced choirs (which we were) got to play as a group...keep up the good work, and keep it fun. p.s. I think it is interesting that so many people think that handbells are just for church...:)

  • sabre dance!!! i love this song!!!

  • yeah, we get pretty involved in that song. It's both a pleasure to play and watch whenever someone video tapes up incognito like this.

  • wow

  • oh um wow, a couple of those guys pretty involved, like that tall skinny guy in the back. Also the guy in the front with the glasses. And the guy next to him, too.

  • @lickmyhives i think everyone playing got pretty involved, lol.

  • Nice Job! That's a tough song. I played it with New England Ringers a few years back.

  • Were u guys performing Sabre dance

  • and I thought I looked goofy! guess I fit in just fine... ;-)

  • OK - it's probably not kosher to comment on a video you are in, but dang! We are a bunch of goofballs! Imagine what we could do if we ever break out of our shells...

  • I WISH we had "goofballs" like y'all in our group! It's all I can do to convince them to try to smile once in a while. You all have seriously raised the bar on the art of bell playing. We want more videos from you! :-)
