  • A simply fun little song, sung so endearing sweet, just delightful! Tom could sing a song about doing the laundry and I'd love it, too!

  • I hear ya!

  • Thanks, he keeps me smiling!

  • Sweet. Petty is just cool.

    Nice Hummingbird

  • he is just sooo beyond awesome

  • Thanks for all those other songs by Tom Petty, I never would have found them otherwise

  • Exile, You seem to be a fountain of information. Good information. Love Nick Lowe, but never heard of the song. "I'm searchin' for a song, maybe under this rock. Searchin' for a song, ain't never gonna stop. Maybe the song, will find me one day, but 'til that happens, all you rocks, stay outta my way! Just something me and a bass player did, while waitng for the rest of the guys, "A long, long time ago." Thanks for the info.
  • I'd buy a CD full of short songs like this, if Petty would put it out.

Some of the best "Dumbass Songs," as he might title it, are written off the cuff so to speak.

    Thanks for your time.

  • Rockit, Petty has done a number of great "throw away" songs. He used to release them as a B sides back in the days of 45s.

    It's Raining Again

Crackin Up ( a nick lowe song)

    Gator on my Lawn

    Heartbreaker's Beach Party

There's a bunch of them on Playback too.

One B side that was definately NOT a throw away was Casa Dega, which is the best song Petty has done.

  • AGREED !!!!!! my favorite song is shadow of a doupt ( a complex kid) and its tied for MY first with CASA DEGA!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great, great song. Torpedos should have had Casa Dega in place of What Are You Doing in My Life or even Century City or even . . . Lousiana Rain. Casa Dega is the best ballad, and maybe even the best song he's done. Not only a great song, but they really nailed the production on it, too. Very cleanly recorded, great mix. It just goes to show that sometimes artists aren't the best judges of their own work.

  • Yeah it has KILLER bass...gawd....beautiful it could have repaced century city but i really like what r lu doing in my life it was written about a crazed groupie in new york lol

  • @Exilemainstreet i think in addition to those three songs, maaaaaaaaaaybe in place of What Are You Doing in My Life. Either way, its great to see another TPATH enthusiast

  • @Tpathpslm557 Yeah, I've been making people listen to Casa Dega since college. "Forget about Refugee, forget about Complex Kid, Don' Come Around Here, forget about Stop Dragging My Heart, Casa Dega is THE best song he's done, but NO ONE'S HEARD IT!"

  • @Exilemainstreet exactly!! as i am the only TPATH enthusiast in my high school, it's up to me to show everyone alllll the unheard gold!

  • @Tpathpslm557 I'm the only TPATH enthusiast at my middle school....we should go bowling sometime!

  • @deflepphartme hahaha heck yeah! wanna come down here to florida?(:

  • @Tpathpslm557 OF COURSE!!!! :D

  • The best song ever. Awesome.

  • What's with all the people in the background? It looks like they're at a get rich quick seminar

  • Exilemainstreet,

Uh, from what I could see, I think they call the place you see in the background, a "Recording studio."

Looks like an orchestral arrangement. You may not believe me, but I figured that out by the way they were sitting (semi circled) with sheet music on stands in front of them.

Sorry man, but you left yourself wide open for that one.

Plus, the username shows you're still stuck in the "Stone's," age.

I guess, "Get rich quick seminar," people still attend their concerts.

  • You're right, Rockit! Those are studio musicians in the background. The music stands, sheet music, and instruments should have been a tip off for me! In my defense, I have absolutely no recollection of making that post, and I have no idea why I would write something like that. In fact, I used to be a big TP fan (until the ELO guy exerted his evil MOR influence on him and TP decided he wanted to be a Beatle). Anyway, my post is a testiment as why one should never post while high.

  • Exilemainstreet,

    We have something in common.

We all may forget things we say, especially while under the influence. In my case, my age is beginning to have an effect on my memory.

I was at a recent gathering of many "Old," friends, and as they seem to remember it, I was the, "Class clown."

I remember myself as quiet, and that's because I was high during most of my high school years,

Still, I recall laughing in classrooms, but not having anything to do with it.

    Thanks for the memories.

  • haha funny, love this!!! i fucken love this guy!!!

  • Thats classic.. That cat rocks.. Peace!!

  • I love this. I have a Iguana. And that's always the question...."Why did you get that damn thing?" Wouldn't trade him for the world, but not a pet for everyone. Takes a lot of time and devotion to be able to handle them. He goes everywhere with me. Lizards rock. Thanks for posting this dealy.

  • I love his little songs like this!

  • I love this song!

  • Hahaha,always funny.
