@restorethat454 cause i have a 454 big block its in my mud truck it's got comp 650 lift cam worked 70 corvette heads and fully forged bottom end edelbrock single plane and a holley 750 double pumper just looking for some tuning tips to get the peak power all the way through
@03sto Dyno is usually $100/hr with no professional help. I don't recommend it to be honest. It looks cool and all but I had much better luck just learning it myself. The internet is wonderful in that regard. I used an AEM wide-band o2 sensor (comes with a digital gauge) to monitor fuel:air ratio, its way more accurate than the old guy who just listens to it run and turns screws. It's basically as good as a dyno except for you have to test it on a road or in a field.
@03sto But most of all, the dyno can't tune for driveability. This is off the line response and high load situations like starting in the mud or sand with big tires. You can't set the timing curve without being under load. For example, we tuned the whole carb and got our peek numbers that day and we couldn't drive the truck up on the trailer because the low-end power was so far off the timing curve that it would back fire on a lean condition. $250 later I did it myself, ended up with 40hp more.
@supercarbuilder Thanks alot for the input. Im all for doing stuff on my own but after building the motor, i just got lazy haha. Yes their is alot of good info and i think i know a decent amount about how to do the tuning i just wanted to pay someone to take it off my hands. My c10 is gonna be a street/strip truck and as you said, a dyno tune doesnt take into account real world driving. Just high numbers on a dyno. Very good info and im glad you shared it with me. Thanks alot
Ahhh That dyno looks all to Familiar. Had Baker Tune my 1978 GMC on 40's and 3.73's. Did 550 rwhp and 540 rwtq. I'll post up the video of that today

Damn nice chevy. What gearing do u put in it with those tires. 44s?
mikezanellato 9 months ago
@mikezanellato The tires are 39.5's and I still have 4:11 gears, I'd like to go with 5:13. I just do everything in low range and it does great.

Then about 425-450bhp, now with further tuning and a new carb about 450-475bhp.
