I'm sorry that you don't appreciate historic folk dancing. I am guessing that this is not a part of your culture. Open your mind to other cultures. This is beautiful stuff.

  • @kardboardkid I mean, i like the songs, but the danding is gayy as shit

  • @kardboardkid I mean, i enjoy the songs, but the dancin is gay as shit

  • Nice to have this historic footage preserved for all to see, well done.

'Glorishears' (a.k.a. Leapfrog) was a firm fixture in the side's repertoire during my time with the Rumford MM

  • Very accomplished dancing, like to see some of that today.

  • Thanks for posting this vintage film. It's wonderful to look at.

  • Great to see this - thank you. Dartington Morris Men are practising this at the moment!

  • The fiddler has been identified as Elsie Avril. She made many of the 78 recordings put out by EFDSS in the 30's, 40's and 50's. Douglas Kennedy has been identified as the tall guy in the set. Milton Smith and his brother Everett, are also likely dancers.

  • I digitized the videos after being shown them at Pinewoods Camp this summer because I saw that the tape was beginning to deteriorate.

  • This footage comes from reels that were made by the Storrow and/or the Conant family in Massachusetts. Helen Storrow and the Conant family had owned Pinewoods Camp where the Country Dance and Song Society have put on programs for many decades and have championed folk dance in the US. These were located by Rick Conant in the 1990's. Brad Sayler, who I believe was then president of CDSS had them transferred to video tape in 1992. One more reel was just found and has yet to be transferred.

  • Where did you get this footage buddy?
