Actually he roughly said "you dont teach me how to play my piano" and tina said "ok, sorry, i'm sorry" there is an interview where she sais that... they are still good friends
The song was inspired not by John or Taupin directly, but rather by Bernie Taupin's wife of the time. When discussing the Caribou album, Elton John threw one of his legendary tantrums. This led to Taupin's wife to claim "the bitch is back". Taupin then wrote the lyrics.
if im not mistaken they had gotten into a disagreement or arguement on rehearsing proud mary and elton called tina a b**ch which made tina run off stage and few days later she cancelled a tour they were both to be a part of
@mattydave1268 I love Tina and im actually happy this happend! Im upset that Elton would do say that to her. But if it wasnt for that, we wouldnt have the other AMAZING songs TINA came out with and the 24/7. She will ALWAYS be amazing. and to all the new singers out today, they dont even hold a candle to her.
@mattydave1268 actually he ran off the stage and she came charging behind him...he ran into his dressing room and she went in there and they argued it out but later made up but not all the way because she was like it was the past slapping her back in the face. nd she had all right to feel that way...i mean it is her song she knows what sounds best since she has to sing it.
@mattydave1268 It was Elton John who stormed off to his trailer and Tina ran after him to confront him. Apparently they were having a shouting match and later, Elton John came back onto the stage and apologised to Tina. There's a video of it on YouTube.

For the Elton / Tina fiasco. I don't care how much fame a person has. No one deserves to be treated that way. Aretha Franklin sings a song about it.
