  • I love all these lush orchestrations/arrangements which are so rare today because nearly everythings knocked out by synths in a laboratory - giving it none of that depth and texture - now it seems.

  • SHEER PARTY JOINT!

  • to listen to the end is a privalage. listen up folks.

  • Man... I never knew until today that there's a 12" disco single of this song. Back in the 70's, long versions are found in LP's and no need to look for separate 12-inch mixes. How come Chic didn't put this long version in their 'Risque' album and instead put the short/edit version? (2/14/12)

  • i love that bassline and the song

  • Now I know where Luther Vandross' Shine song came from. I love the tune it has some nice vibe to it.

  • chic was so...CHIC! so ultra cool...too bad they put a dif'rent mix on the LP! thanx 4 the post!

  • So Kool

  • Chic was my No1 group back in the day. Good times was my fave song. I can't figure out why today's music lacks the essence/groove/feelgoodfactor of that era. Maybe those were our young carefree days and so was the music...shame we can't go back....if for nothing else but the music.

  • @MusicalSista I don't think modern music lacks the feelgoodfactor but then I guess you have to search for feel good songs cause it's true some modern songs lack the feel good factor.

  • Boss as helll

  • As strange as this might seem both Chic and Roxy Music used the same studio at different times but Nile Rodgers and Bryan Ferry managed to connect, share some ideas and influences. This was around 1979..In the mid 80's Rodgers and Ferry teamed up for 'Help Me' used in the movie "The Fly".. During this period both men were great friends and it showed in their music..

  • actually I prefer Fashion beats (the black eyed peas song)

  • I like Fergie but the Black Eyed Peas & Will I Am have no soul whatsoever. They have no business sampling this song!

  • Esse som é sensacional!!!! Ela tem um alto astral muito grande!!!!sem precendentes!!!!!

  • you listen to this, and you understand that todays' music is SERIOUSLY lacking in everything from talent, to pure musicianship. Its EXTREMELY rare that you would even hear rhythm sections or any sort of orchestration in ANY popular music, today. And it annoys me when groups like Chic, are knocked for making what we call 'disco music'..that label ended a lot of careers, that didnt deserve the demise that they met. If this is 'disco music' then Im proud to say that I LOVE IT!

  • @MisterCrazyLegs Bravo! That bass is hypnotizing.

  • different class, they dont make tunes like this now!

  • Hey Slayd5000,

How ya been my friend? As usual, you bring the heat. This Chic track is nice.

I would be honored if I may go Vinyl-Hunting with you one day. Peace.

  • My Favourite Chic track....the bass line, vocals, disco beats, and makes u nodd ur head continously!.... ;o))

  • MY MAN, this is just a good thing, no matter how you put it, im ROLLER SKATER,

and you give me all the joints i SKATED to back in the 80's in then some, its good seening that waxs spinning, wow, we had it good back then no money. but lots of good music, im a 60' baby, so i know good music, keep up the good work DJ CURT MOE

  • Everything about this song, the bass, guitar, the tight drums, the piano is just PERFECT

  • Muito interessante a apresentação do LP, boas lembranças para aqueles que algum dia já foram DJ's e fizeram muitas festas. Gostei muito !!!

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS?

  • @provisionscatering yep we are.. the best bassist ever...

  • An European act called Alcazar sampled this song under the title"Satisfaction Guarantee". Search for it here.

  • @CapricornMartinez: "Alcazar - Sexual Guarantee". Sweden. Thanks for sharing. ;-)

  • @MeMooSYTUK Thanks for the correction. I should smack myself.

  • Fantastic track this 1.

  • Listen to this bass player. He's partying over there-yet-he always comes back home. (that's musician talk ya'll). God Bless Tha Bass Man!!! and rest in peace....

  • @MrKenndawg It's surely Nile Rogers on bass? It usually was with Chic.

  • @Erbgrinder Thanks for the mini history fact! So many of the bands of that era (or any era for that matter) were usually lead by one in particular; Maurice White, for example, and I had forgotten that Niles Rodgers was one of them. I knew that he waled on the guitar and did keys but that bass , I thought, was played by another brother who'd passed away. Oh well, it's diffinitely C L A S S I C / N O W ! !

  • @MrKenndawg You were right. Bernard Edwards was the bass player on this track, may he rest in peace. Not only a fantastic bass player, but a brilliant song writer as part of the collaboration with Nile Rodgers. This link might be of interest to you though:

Incidentally, just found out Nile Rodgers is going to be about 300 yards from me in November to be interviewed!! I'll be taking a few of my Chic vinyls down there for him to sign. :D

  • @Erbgrinder Thanks. Word to the wise...try and pick up a cd or two of their classics, especially the cd that this cut comes off of. Artist love to sign their new sh*t. And unless the vinyls are in great shape, you'll sought've look like a '70's baby in an 21st century world (if you get the drift?!?). PEACE and enjoy!!

  • @Erbgrinder Bernard Edwards did bass. Nile Rogers does the tasty guitar riffs that we all have recognized as his signature on singles not only by Chic, but Sister Sledge and Diana Ross that he wrote and produced.

  • BONNE DISCO FUNK COOL, UN TRES BON GOUPE DES ANNEES 70 - 80

  • What has happened to all this black funk/disco music? It must be the best era for black music, it's funky, good beat, full of instruments, dancable and brilliant music. Why has black music dissolved into rap and hip hop which is just horrible horrible music. What has happened to all the soul/funk/disco?

  • If there's a track that deserves a 12" it's this.

  • HOLY FREAKIN CRAP!!!! I didn't know there was an extended version of this beautiful, timeless and unforgettable dance classic!!!! Still my favorite song in the world!!!! (the radio edit doesn't do any justice at all). I also remember this song being sampled in Luther Vandross' "Shine," but the sampling of this tune that was used by Black Eyed Peas is the worst (talk about a total fail!). Thank you so much for uploading and sharing the extended version!!!! YOU'RE DA MAN!!!! Playlisted :-)

  • The best sample of this song was done by the legandary Luther Vandross "Shine" and it was amazing.

  • @Panaroyal1 : Agreed!

  • Dude I stumbled across your uploads and this is the greatest!!! I did not even realize that there isn't any videos !! Damn this music sounds so good !! I am a member and a fan now ..... Vinyl all day . It sounds beautiful.

  • The Bass Stars!! The rest is beautiful too, but the Bass Stars!

  • Aaaaaaaah Yeaaaaaaaah!!!!!!

  • the bep do have a purpose - sometimes, when i feel sick and i need to throw up, all i have to do is put on one of their musical ass- rapes. seriously ... while my bass gear rots away in the garage, i fondly remember the days of great live music, people dancing without texting, and social interaction that went beyond holding a beer, while mindlessly staring. hilarious.

BTW, Nile rodgers is one of the all time most successful musicians on the planet, and a legend when it comes to his guitar playi

  • Bernie Edwards was just an insanely good bass player... if you listen closely he almost never plays his line the same way -he continuously adds subtle variations

  • @TheViralSBK

most people here wont understand, but yes, biggest bass complication to go !

  • If Black Eyed Peas sampled this record, then more money for Chic...

  • This song was sampled on Luther Vandross' song "Shine" :) That is a great sampled take on a song.

  • @Fieldsfangirl28 : Yes indeedy! Excellent sampling!

  • Alcazar's version is a good modern try on this classic tune but the original CHIC 12" rules in my opinion :¬) !

  • Alcazar with Sexual Guarantee done a better job then the Black Eyed Peas but you can never beat the original.

  • Three decades have passed, and this 70's music from the "CHIC Organization", still creates magic, whatta' group, and groove...

  • I love this song....but the Black Eyed Cow Eyes....they cant sing if their lives depended on it....I have heard them live....what a mistake.

  • in terms of sampling this song; Darryl Pandy meets Nerio's Dubwork - Sunshine & Happiness >>>>>>>> Black Eyed Peas - Fashion Beats

  • Good times, these are the good times. Good times, leave your cares behind.

The campaign has begun for the revival of disco music. Will you join?

  • dunno why everyones talking about the black eyed peas but while we are, yea the fucking suck balls hard

  • @hucklebuckle1990 LISTEN THE MUSIC OF BALCK EYED PEAS ( FASHION BEATS) -the music in sample of chic !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Awesome song. If you take that 12" and wipe your ass with it, you'll get "Fashion Beats"

  • @biffyslags358 hahahaa =D dude you're totally right!

  • /watch?v=_Mt21D66Coo

  • Great song!!!! Now with Black Eyed Peas!!! Yeaaaah!

  • @hucklebuckle1990 dude i ive always been diskusted by them, fucking dispise that shit

  • Slayed5000 you are so awsome with all these hot jams from the 70 and 80s . Im glad we kept these 12inch records, and how much thes mean to us DJs from the past. I have mine in the same condition as if they was just bought from the record store.. Kepp them playing, man

  • The insanely and always brilliant CHIC. One of their best tracks.

  • THANKS FOR THAT AWESOME!!!!!!!!! JK

  • Was listening to "Fashion Beats" (new song) by Black Eyed Peas. They totally sample this awesome track!

    Rodgers and Edwards rule!

  • @beegbolt Yeh, but Black Eyed Peas are without doubt, the worst musical act in the industry...

So they have automatically failed with sampling this song.

  • @colin4393 Justice did a good job with picking this song.

  • @colin4393 yeah they kinda fucked up with this one lol The END and the Beginning were not that good...no moderate replay value what so ever. Now Elephunk and Monkey Business are classics in my opinion. They're not "the" worst act in the industry but i just think they need to keep it soulful and funky and leave that hyperactive shit to lady gaga or whoever else...thats my opinion.

  • @colin4393 , Mindless Behavior is worse than Black Eyed Peas!

  • @colin4393

Black Eyed Peas were on point when they first dropped. check out 'joints and jams' a banger before furgie. But after that 1st album... nosedive.

  • @colin4393 i think black eyed peas were good their first two albums

  • Awesome

  • oh yeah, the known unknown from edwards & rodgers... sorted

  • huge bass line and terrific guitar riff!! Music was much better yesterday!

  • skill cut!

  • Buying the Box set to get this mix!!! Cheers!!!

  • Love this song!!! Killler remix!! Thanks for posting!!
