i've lusted after the vmax for 20 yrs. finally got 1 bout a month ago. does it disappiont? let me put it this way. wanted to show my jap crap hateing harley rideing girlfriend the power. got it to 3000 rpm in 1st then showered down on it. HUGE mistake! saw her feet fly past the handle bars as she did a back flip off the bike over the sissy bar. she use to hate the fact that i insisted on helmets. not anymore. shes germain so i'll end this with mien gott this s.o.b. is bad. LOVE IT!!!

Vmax is definitely one of the best bikes ever produced. Two decades later, it still look like newly developed performance bike! (I said 'performance bike', so Harleys do not count). Whoever designed this bike back in 1985 should've been paid w/o any work for life.

Love the Pipes I have the same ones on my 89 max sounds GREAT extra Hp.....Got to love it. I see your rear tire looks like mine....LOL....Sucks had to rig bike jack to remove it due to center stand being removed to take these pipes.

Did you know the cobra slipons (pipes on my bike in this video) are actually restrictive and rob horsepower? They steal about 10hp over the factory silenced pipes.

Get a good full exhaust with headers and all and your gonna gain up to 20 or so over the stock setup. The cobra pipes SUCK. Not only do they steal horsepower but they cause a lot of carbon buildup in your top end and sometimes you can even get too much gas in your oil. I took them off my bike and im running open headers for now. Spark plugs check out a little lean in the midrange so when i get some extra money im gonna splurge on a set of UFO's.

For "chargerman06" The 1985 was the 1st year the vmax came out.also the fastest 1st gen,due to having the least emissions restrictions.making it the most desired year for collectors and fighters alike...get an 85 and update the rims/shocks/brakes/ect and you have one bad bike..though if I had one I would 'street fighter' it.All the compeating with sportbikes of 2day is done on the stat sheets few people even have skillz to reach,so I say buy a bike YOU like..So for me,I like V-max and old Z1's

I know a vmax is fast I have drove one and I own A V65 Honda Sabre just as fast as a max Check out my video of my bike 10.6 1/4 mile time I have out ran a max. But A stock Max will never beat a stock Busa Like is said already unless the busa runs like crap or driver can not drive.

Look it up.... Pee Wee Gleason ran a 10.65 on the V65 sabre!!!! But I would not expect a vmax fan to realize that considering they think the vmax was the only Power cruiser from the 80's when in fact the v65 was first and the vmax was slightly faster but nothing a good rider could not making up.

the v65 magna and sabre was the first and fastest production bike ever to do a 10+ second quarter mile. yamaha vmax came out second to the v65s debut. i owned an 85 v65 magna and now a 07 vmax. i like both bikes; the v65's handling and acceleration, and the vmax vboost. both are superior bikes in their own way; depends on the person. pity honda discontinued producing the v65. put a super/turbo charger and it will do what the vmax does; maybe better.

You got to love the vmax, but the best bike is the original v4. The Honda V65 Sabre! It is the only reason Yamaha made the vmax! The sabre can run 0-60 in 3 seconds flat and a Quarter mile in 10.6 and has 6 gears I get 45mpg. It handles better because two cylinders are laid down to bring the center of gravity low. I have rode both, and the V65 Sabre is faster low-end and real strong top end. Feels like the vboost all the way to the redline. I like both just the sabre better! Nice bike!!

those electric motor sounds are from the carbs v-max's have a dual butterfly's in the carbs. one inside another. the throttle cable runs the inner butterfly an a motor runs the outer butterfly giving it a 4 barrel effect. when you near full throttle those sounds are from the carb calibrating its position of the outer butterfly

thats not aftermarket paint, thats stock paint. they only did this color in 1997, took me forever to find a low milage mint condition 97 for the right price, paid 5800 for it a year ago with 8,000 miles on it, it was all mint condition besides the normal fading of the paint on the heads and the radiator side covers were cracked, replaced that with an aftermarket tho
