Question time Why are prescription charges not Free across the UK

This is supposed to be a UK. What is good for Wales, Scotland and N. Ireland is good for England. It doesn`t just stop at free px`s. Free roads and education and Nursing care in Scotland. Either we are a UK or we are not.

The only reason the celtic nations can afford this is because it is subsidised by English taxpayers, the over generous block grant Scotland recieves means they are awash with public money.This is a bigger argument than merely the English voting for people who would give them free prescriptions!

Any independence vote has to be approved or not by the Westminster parliament. Before that, it has to gain acceptance from Conservative, Labour and Liberals in our own parliament - it has no chance unless SNP has a clear majority, which it does not. So, the only thing stopping the referendum is legislation and red tape, else we'd be having it now.

The so called National Health Service in England has sunk money into private health providers. These providers need to make a profit, which is where the difference is not as Baroness Williams claims. Scotland, under the SNP, has not gone down the road to privatise the NHS and can spend some of the saved money on prescription charges!

And if the people of England wanted free prescriptions for all or similar policies they could vote for the lib dems, but we dont.

Whilst the UK has its problems, the differences between the 4 parts of the UK on these policies is not a major problem, as i said simply look at how different the American states are.

Waste of money bringing in free prescriptions for everyone. Its right that only those on benefits, over 60, under 18 or with long term illnesses get free prescriptions.

Others can afford to pay under £10 when they get sick, its very small compared to the huge prices in places like the USA where drugs cost alot more money.

The United Kingdom now has devolved administrations, the USA has very different states, hell some execute people and others dont.. (England and Scotland aint that different)
