just listen to the commentators.....and i never saw anyone who goes on a duck and wave his bat or halmet to crowed good video and thumbs up for batsman for his efforts....
@lookwhoshere1000 Geoff Allott batted for 101 minutes (faced 77 balls) in the first innings v South Africa at Auckland, March 1999, Peter Such lasted 72 minutes (faced 51 balls) in this innings which is the same as Manjural Islam who did the same feat for Bangladesh v Sri Lanka in Colombo, March 2002 but only faced 41 balls.
For all his crazy tactics for the initial bit(that of taking a single on the third ball),Mark Ramprakash very well made up for that.An important p'ship in the end.
Peter Such's patience and grit deserves much applause.
What's funny is seeing how NZ didn't attack on Such much, and offered him easy singles.Holding sounded so annoyed as if he was ready to kick Fleming's butt :)
Such a pleasantly charming piece of cricket this is!
Some people would classify this as boring, and this is exactly what's so difficult to explain to such people.Cricket's not just about runs, boundaries and wickets.Much of it is played in the mind and it's things like this which makes cricket so funnily interesting!
Rob, if you ever need proof as to how much people love you, consider that most of your fans would quite happily watch this video, which is 12 minutes of a bloke scoring 0 runs.

One of the best examples of how a batsman can contribute with the bat without actually scoring.

@Stephen1965 lookup Richard Ellison i think he once scored a duck of 52 balls ..India vs England
lookwhoshere1000 1 month ago
@lookwhoshere1000 That's correct as it was v India in the 1984/85 tour, he faced 52 balls and batted for 50 minutes so is definately worth a mention.

Such a changed England side. Imagine Graeme Swann doing this for half an hour? He'd have had a double hundred by now. More than Ramprakash anyway...

Pah. Such's efforts were impressive. But I want to see a man who could go days without scoring a run. Chris Tavare.
